Lighthearted post.

Just that really 🤣 I’m very new to vinted. So let’s hear your Vinted horror stories!

Another one really pissed .e off, a seller I'd bought new shoes from which were perfect was selling more shoes, new without tags. I bought them too and they arrived and when I put them on the leather was so old and dry they literally crumbled to smitherines

You wouldn't haggle in a charity shop would you?

But Vinted isn’t a charity shop, is it? What the hell have charity shops got to do with it?

I wouldn’t walk around M&S in a bikini either. Does that mean it’s not permissible on the beach?

But it's not a charity shop
It's a market place
Haggling is built in. Hence the offer system.

Some people are taking your post a little too personally. Maybe they know they are the pain in the arse buyers 🙃

Anyway, I agree. People posting the wrong stuff is sooooo annoying. I had one this week where it took me ages to collect it because the barcode for the shop to scan wasn’t coming through then I got it home and opened it to find one half of the bundle was the wrong stuff. The main reason I ordered it was for a set of 3 t-shirts and she’d sent me an entirely different set so then I’ve got to fuck around to return it and still don’t have the item I wanted.

I also ordered a denim jacket for my son that always listed as nearly new. It may have been but when it arrived it absolutely stunk of cigarettes. Even after washing I don’t want to put it on him so will probably just give it away now.

I think so too. 🫣

That’s such a shame and also annoying. I’ve seen this on a few occasions where an item says new without tags but then in the description the seller has put that it’s only been worn a few times. So which is it ?

Some sellers are entirely delusional. I recently pointed out to a seller who was asking £85 for a used item that it could be bought brand new for £90 (free postage so cheaper than Vinted) and I offered £60. She then proceeded to offer it for £80 and said she wouldn't go any lower. Some sellers don't seem to understand the point of Vinted is to get a bargain.

Yep!

I generally find most sellers fall into 4 categories

The clearing stuff out want it gone but reasonable nick/new seller

The I want pretty much what I paid for it crew sellers

The I'm going to make this into my business/sideline sellers

The absolute take the piss sellers who put weird prices for very worn out stuff but will have a name on it sellers

I tend to only buy from the first type!

Lighthearted post!

I’m new to selling on vinted but have heard lots from friends and seen online about very cheeky buyers.

I’ve had some very ridiculous offers for brand new items with tags and generally messed about. Of course you haggle and offer what you want to pay for items. Instances of being offered 79p on a £75 dress 🤣

Did anyone see the TikTok where a seller said they weren’t able to complete the order because they were distressed by the Molly Mae/ Tommy Fury break up 🙈

It's not possible to offer so little on such am expensive dress. Vinted only allows you to offer so low a percentage

I sold a wedding outfit that I hadn't worn and was new with tags. Parcelled it up and it was delivered, but the buyer wanted a refunded because the dress and jacket were creased. I'm not sure what she was expecting, it just needed a good steam.

xsquared · 07/09/2024 15:22

I've remembered another one. I had a brand new unused item that I had priced cheaper than any other online option, and it received lots of interest and offers within half a day.

One guy offered £10 which I declined and asked whether I would accept less because he could get it brand new for £19.99 on Amazon.

That's fine, but I'm selling at half that price unused and new, and others are offering me higher. Also, if I've already declined £10 then why does he think I'd accept a lower offer?

My daughter is selling on Vinted and she was almost scammed out of £250. It hasn't scared her off she has just sold a blazer.

NY152 · 07/09/2024 15:32

Lots of sellers playing fast and loose with the description ‘very good condition’!

BlackFriYay · 07/09/2024 15:32

Somebody bought an item from me and have left it sitting at the collection point for over a week. I reached out to see if there was a problem, they read and ignored my message.

They're clearly waiting for it to be cancelled and returned to me but why not just say you've changed your mind and arrange for it to be returned without all of this pissing about and delays.

BucketBouquet · 07/09/2024 15:32

4andup · 07/09/2024 15:15

I didn't know that.

Then why the stupid comment about charity shops?

CasaBianca · 07/09/2024 15:33

whotoldyouso · 07/09/2024 12:18

I have only had a problem once, with someone insisting there was a mark on a pair of maternity trousers. They were £2 🙄

I hate it when something is £3 and people offer £2.50. I find it really annoying.

See, if an item is advertised ‘as new’ or ‘very good’ it isn’t supposed to have a mark on, regardless of the price. Or at the very least the mark should be mentioned.

This.

I hate it when you buy something as 'very good' and then it turns up with a stain or tiny hole or whatever that wasn't mentioned.

It doesn't matter what price it was, that's not the point - I wouldn't have paid even a quid for it had I known it was there.

stripybobblehat · 07/09/2024 15:38

Though actually it seems a lot of sellers seem to think they are doing the buyer a favour? And that's why they get annoyed by lower offers? I suggest they reframe their expectations of vinted.

RedRobyn2021 · 07/09/2024 15:43

Buyer have been fine for me and most sellers. The only bad experience I've had is where someone sold me some jeans which had a manufacturer fault, which meant I couldn't wear them, none of this was mentioned in the advert. I hadn't realised so washed the jeans and it was only when o tried them on that it became apparent. So I'd essentially wasted £10.

Vinted itself say Very Good can have slight imperfections though
They just should be listed and visible in photos

A vinted seller isn't a charity shop

I volunteered in a charity shop a few years ago and the manager did advertised items on eBay. I wouldn't be surprised if she used vinted.

BucketBouquet · 07/09/2024 15:32

You don't know who's selling it could be a charity shop selling an item especially if they know they could get more for the shop. I didn't know there was a haggle button in the app.

Filterphobia · 07/09/2024 15:49

🙋🏼‍♀️ I’ve been known to haggle over 50p or £1 so I’m a pain in the arse buyer. I buy mainly kids books cos DS goes through them so quickly. The thing is people sell second hand kids books for £2 or £3 but with the fees and postage it’s often cheaper to buy brand new on Amazon as I have free delivery on there, so I haggle. I would prefer to buy second hand, but don’t want to pay more for it than a new one!

BucketBouquet · 07/09/2024 15:51

Well if I don’t know who’s selling it, I can’t make a call over whether to haggle, can I? Are you suggesting buyers never haggle just in case the seller might be a charity?
