Lighthearted post.

Just that really 🤣 I’m very new to vinted. So let’s hear your Vinted horror stories!

Oooh. MN is a bit nasty today. The OP posted a lighthearted thread and she's being attacked. I think she was hoping for some amusing anecdotes rather than a character assassination.
OP, I use Vinted and have bought and sold over 600 items. Most people are great, some not.

Thanks @Lookingforthecoffeerevels Exactly this. It was meant to be lighthearted 😅. Rather nasty indeed.

That’s brilliant. I think overall it’s a great platform, thats saves things with life left in them going on the bin.

Really? I thought there was a minimum offer you could make and the higher the price of the item the higher the minimum offer.

Buyers are able to privately message you and ask that way.

I hate buy and sell sites with a passion. Ive tried them several times and always find that when i want to sell anything, apparently it must be priced at a ridiculously low price (think £2 on a £40 top) despite being practically new, but when i want to buy something, apparently it being second hand is no reason to expect to pay less than 80% of the full RRP for the new version 🤨

I find that too. 'Suggested' price for a virtually new kids' Monsoon dress: £3. Selling price for a virtually new kids' Monsoon dress: £15.

Lighthearted post!

I’m new to selling on vinted but have heard lots from friends and seen online about very cheeky buyers.

I’ve had some very ridiculous offers for brand new items with tags and generally messed about. Of course you haggle and offer what you want to pay for items. Instances of being offered 79p on a £75 dress 🤣

Did anyone see the TikTok where a seller said they weren’t able to complete the order because they were distressed by the Molly Mae/ Tommy Fury break up 🙈

No they didn't. It's a percentage and I'm sure £1 is the minimum

People offer a small amount less if they have the amount in vinted funds. It's not ridiculous at all!

mondaytosunday · 07/09/2024 14:27

Why are they ridiculous? But I only know from buyers side.
My DD is an avid Vinted shopper. Most things have been great and posted promptly. One lovely dress had a very obvious stain from and back even though described as 'stain free'. She messaged the seller who said to keep the dress and have her full refund.
Her main complaints are: not showing the full garment in photos. Blurry pics. Not stating the correct size (saying it's a 12 and the label says 16 is quite common type of thing). Not stating length of skirts. Not responding to messages. Putting items in incorrect categories.

Of course there are lots great buyers on Vinted. I’m not tarring everyone with the same brush! This thread is specifically about less than ideal buyer interactions so you can all stop with being butt hurt.

Ok, you’re one of those that if people disagree with you, they’re butt hurt, or need to chill - you just sound very annoying and your thread/opinion makes no sense.

I’m chill and my ass is pain free

I buy most clothes and winter gear from vinted I have always just paid the price asked for the stuff I want as usually it's a bargain anyway!

Some sellers are a bit delusional on what the price they put especially if its above the item price new from the shop still in a sale but I just scroll past those ones.

I don't sell on vinted though usually our stuff does our 2 children then gets passed to a friend to do more so

Some sellers are entirely delusional. I recently pointed out to a seller who was asking £85 for a used item that it could be bought brand new for £90 (free postage so cheaper than Vinted) and I offered £60. She then proceeded to offer it for £80 and said she wouldn't go any lower. Some sellers don't seem to understand the point of Vinted is to get a bargain.

but this is their prerogative as the seller

I agree with you OP - many Vinted buyers are sooo cheeky with their offers! I have a pile of stuff to sell but honestly have to psyche myself up to deal with the hassle. It’s worse than FB marketplace 🤣

Dared to agree with me 🙈 I think it’s the really really cheeky offers that are the worst.

I got shitty feedback for allowing a sale to autocomplete last week. Sorry Seller, I didn’t realise you expected chat and cash in return for your jumper. 🙄

ThisFunHedgehog · 07/09/2024 14:40

Mynewnameis · 07/09/2024 14:12

Sellers on the other hand... got some trainers last week. Photos look good and worn twice apparently. I buy and she messages to say they are muddy shall she wash them..no longer worn twice then!

This isn’t okay. Buyers and sellers alike then can both be equally ridiculous! Just as there are heat buyers and sellers. The end.

I find buyers really cheeky on Vinted in a way I’ve never had with other selling platforms. Someone bought an item from me and then messaged to say they only wanted it posted in recycled packaging! I was like sorry you take the purple mailing bags I have or nothing 😂 I’ve also had super cheeky offers that just irritated me, it’s brand new clothes that are never worn for £5, if you can’t afford it don’t message me asking how low I will accept! I ended up taking most of it off and donating to charity because the messages were so annoying and not worth the hassle for the sake of £2/3!

Oh goodness 🫣 Yes I agree with you, it’s the super cheeky offers that are irritating.

I always list things at least 50p-£1 more than I really expect to sell for so that when buyers offer £2.50 instead of £3 I'm getting what I expected and if they just pay the full price I'm doing better...

You get 7 days to post. I can't always get to the drop box before then, and occasionally have to ask for an extension because the lockers are full or the shops are shut. I don't feel the need to rush out and post immediately

gamerchick · 07/09/2024 12:56

Some people are taking your post a little too personally. Maybe they know they are the pain in the arse buyer

Heh I thought the same Grin

It's true though. People treat these sites like a ruddy shop. These are the types of people who buy a load of clothes with the full intention to return most of it.

Yes I fear, oh dear.

WARNING ⚠️
be careful a fake buyer wanted to buy a suit from my daughter for £10. He even emailed informing her that he paid in advance. She received an email asking for payment details and the scammer wanted to take £250 from her account luckily she was broke. Anyway she spoke to a man on the online chat who she thought was from vinted and he told her he would report her to her bank for fraud if she didn't pay the £250 and she wouldn't be able to sell on Vinted. It was all a lie I sent him a few messages telling him what I thought of him. I sent the buyer an email after explaining the situation and I was happy to fulfill the order well he came back and explained to me that I would receive the £250 back??? I think online chat man and email man was the same person called Billy the thief.

Picoloangel · 07/09/2024 14:55

On the whole I have had good experiences. One top was disgustingly dirty when I received and certainly not in the advertised condition and the seller went ballistic when I gently pointed this out .

DS bought some sort of influencer brand hoodie recently. He was told it was genuine but it clearly wasn’t when he received it and Vinted were excellent and refunded the money.

BucketBouquet · 07/09/2024 14:57

Before that, I had someone offer 40% off the asking price, which is the lowest you can offer. I declined of course without further interaction.

Why “of course”? You could have suggested meeting halfway. Obviously it’s up to you if you want to hold out for the asking price, but I don’t see where the “of course” comes into it.

You wouldn't haggle in a charity shop would you?
