Lighthearted post.

Just that really 🤣 I’m very new to vinted. So let’s hear your Vinted horror stories!

I find some sellers awful liars. With eBay if you return an item the seller pays for the postage. I have had a few items that we stained and not as described. Yes ai can return but then lose money having to pay the postage. This means buyers can sell any old shit and someone gets a profit on the postage.

Lolaandbehold · 08/09/2024 18:13

I sell quite a bit of childrens clothes on it. Usually Zara and the like. I charge peanuts because I just want it out of the house. So something that originally cost £20 and is still in excellent condition, I'll put on for £3. And yet there is someone who will always offer £2.50. When I decline that, they will not pay the extra 50p. I don't reduce it on principle because it's dirt cheap anyway and £3 no where near covers my time devoted to P&P plus walking to the courier drop off vs say, what I'd earn per hour at work if it was calculated hourly. But still they want a "bargain" on what is already a bargain. That irks me.

I think so too. 🫣

That’s such a shame and also annoying. I’ve seen this on a few occasions where an item says new without tags but then in the description the seller has put that it’s only been worn a few times. So which is it ?

Report sellers that do this!

To them I guess its anything up to £7.00 they end up paying though with postage and Vinted's protection fee.

I prefer items to come to my home, but that 50p - £1.25 to go to the local shop or Locker instead isn't to be sneered at if you buy a lot of Vinted items.

Well, I'm a buyer and I always pay the asked price . But I agree, one buyers are unreasonable. I don't sell much, just had some new baby clothes which my DD had grown out. So this lady had a bargain of 4 new items for £6 (M&S and Next). I packed the clothes in the shopping bag and wrapped well with the brown tape. So she bombarded me with 4 messages. 1. One of the items label had the price tag removed and I didn't tell her about that. 2. The packaging was not acceptable. 3. She suggested I invested in packaging. 4. she won't leave me a bad review, just the neutral one. I didn't reply to any of the messages, but blocked her after the 4th.

I have, Vinted reviewed and didn’t see any violation despite it being incorrectly listed.

That's so unfair! Buyers should he protected too!

Mumoftwochildrenand6furkids · 08/09/2024 18:36

Only ever looked at Vinted site once and it was not for me, Im not into that rectro look.

HollyKnight · 08/09/2024 18:39

Im not into that rectro look.

🤔

Platypuslover · 08/09/2024 18:40

Some sellers even more so.

made a fair offer for a used pair of shoes going by others on for sale and seen sold recently and they said, they won’t accept offers they are on for a fair price. 🙄 good luck with that love, leave em sitting there. From pics I can’t be certain they are genuine or fakes tbh tho wouldn’t want to pay £15 for something potentially fake as I have not seen a brand collab for that pattern! Or they could be really old in which case may fall apart first time I wear them.

But those same kinda people will offer you the lowest Vinted allows when I send them a slightly lower price, clearly I offer that not 40% lower than my offer to you.

Platypuslover · 08/09/2024 18:43

whotoldyouso · 07/09/2024 12:18

I have only had a problem once, with someone insisting there was a mark on a pair of maternity trousers. They were £2 🙄

I hate it when something is £3 and people offer £2.50. I find it really annoying.

Or a well known high street brand on for £2 and they ask for all the measurements. It’s £2 and you know where it’s from look up their sizing.

Platypuslover · 08/09/2024 18:48

What is annoying is when they ask for a bundle and you accept their offer and they then don’t buy. Had some on single items too. 🙄

I mean why offer in the first place if you have no intention to buy?!

Whydontclothesfitanymore · 08/09/2024 18:51

Engage with those buyers. I will go to the 40% but happily engage in a bit of bartering with a genuine seller. The ones I roll my eyes at are the sellers who have had something on for months that won't engage with offers. It says scam, or greedy bastard to me.

DysonSphere · 08/09/2024 18:53

One other bugbear is when I leave a really great review for the seller...and I get nothing back for ages and then just the standard 'Great buyer'.

What's with that? **

LifesTooShortForYourNonsense · 08/09/2024 18:54

The Vinted sizing really annoys me, having 12 as Large. I’m a bog standard 12, and am medium in Gap, M and S, Uniqlo etc. so I have to look in both 12/L and 10/M for the right sizes.

The oddest thing that’s happened is ordering some trousers for my DD, got sent a pair of adult jeans - from the right seller to my correct address. Contacted seller who kicked right off saying she was going to get CCTV as proof she’d posted the trousers, then the correct item turned up a few days later 🤷‍♀️

Platypuslover · 08/09/2024 18:59

Also often offer a low price to see if seller is active and responsive.

Had one I paid and they just didn’t post it. Yes I was refunded automatically by Vinted but you have ages to post and Vinted reminds you to post, but you don’t? You don’t have a minute to contact me either to let me know? But when Vinted refunded the sale you tell me you will post soon? Not gonna buy it again from you for you to not post it again. And no, no reason was given why they didn’t post it.

AbraAbraCadabra · 08/09/2024 19:01

OneEightTwo · 07/09/2024 12:23

Yeah. I had a woman buy a £2 kids top a couple of weeks ago. The very next day she messaged me like “can you confirm when you’re going to post this, only I ordered it yesterday”.

I waited until the last day to be honest. Fanny.

Oh the really pisses me off. I’ve had this issue on eBay. I work and so can only get to the post office on certain days as there isn’t one near my workplace. So I set a 3 working day postage time scale on the eBay “buy it now” listing.

Someone bought my item and the day after was complaining that it hadn’t been posted yet!! I pointed out the 3 working day timescale on the listing, and explained the reason why I specified that and that I was actually going to send it the next day (so within 2 working days) as it was my WFH day but apparently that was not good enough customer service!!!! So I pointed out that I am just a random person selling secondhand stuff, this isn’t a business, she is not my “customer” and I am not fucking Amazon. Then I cancelled the sale because I do not have the headspace in my life to deal with unreasonable fuckers like that.

I did they litterlly kept low balling every offer in 50p increases. For a dress that is new over £200 and was listed for £12 and I offered £10!

Lolalady · 08/09/2024 19:03

I loved Vinted and bought some really amazing things. Ok, the odd thing didn’t fit but as it was only a few pounds I’d put it in a charity shop.

Then I purchased a lovely maxi dress for £10. Was told it had been delivered but couldn’t locate the parcel anywhere. Raised the issue with Vinted and asked if they could contact the courier and send me a copy of the photo as to where the parcel had been left. Also pointed out there was no card posted through my door to say if it had been left with a neighbour or anything like that. Vinted were not at all helpful and just said the courier had insisted the item had been delivered and they were shutting down my complaint. I had to pay for the item I never received! Seller was lovely and I believe her when she said the item had definitely been sent.

ThistleTits · 08/09/2024 19:04

@ThisFunHedgehog Only had one problem when a seller sold a pair of "TOMS" size6, they were an American 6 and British 4. She replied "they've never been worn though." Why not just put the correct size? Apart from that everything has been fine.

lovepotionnumbernine · 08/09/2024 19:14

@Pippifer ta very much! Off to check out Amazon now.

squidgybits · 08/09/2024 19:23

I am a buyer and seller, most people are lovely but you get the random crazy ones - Woman bought a jacket and it was washed - then steamed before sending. Feedback said it stunk of smoke, in and outside of the package and was filthy. It wasn't, nobody smokes here. If she had just said Its not what I thought and asked for a refund , I would have been ok with it. Left negative feedback then blocked me!

As a seasoned vinted buyer (one day will have to time to sort out and sell lol) and always polite. If I see a bargain I will buy it, if a bit of doubt will offer 10pc less or do a bundle. Like everywhere in society there are some who are just unreasonable. X
