Wedding guest dress - it’s cream

But it’s covered in polkadots, does this make it acceptable?

love this dress and the lady in the shop described it as the ‘perfect’ wedding guest dress but obviously she wants to sell it. I just keep thinking it’s a lot of cream.

Ooo I'm a cool girl too. Couldn't give a flying fuck.

Oh, and this refers to the part where the OP asks for opinions on what guests should wear.

You sound like an angry one, also. If you were as 'cool' as you think you are, you would recognise that not every bride on the surface of the earth will feel the same as you – and that doesn't make you better than them.

KimberleyClark · 06/09/2024 11:08

t's not about upstaging the Bride on the day, or being mistaken for the bride, it's sometimes about colour balance in photos and where the eye is drawn. And the photos will last forever.

They may well last for ever but I think you’ll find most people rarely look at them after the first few years of marriage!

HauntedbyMagpies · 06/09/2024 11:28

I think it looks cheap as the dots are too big. Definitely doesn't look classy and elegant, sorry. Maybe ask the dress shop if they've anything of the same sort of cut but in a different colour/print?

HauntedbyMagpies · 06/09/2024 11:29

Thehonestbadger · 05/09/2024 07:14

@Fairyliz 😂 it’s me wearing it but I’ve had two kids so I can promise you it do have wobbly bits it’s just a flattering cut.

So I’m gonna share my favourite dress of the day but neither DH nor the shop lady seemed to like it (it’s light blue)

This is stunning! 🤩

This is stunning! 🤩

The pale blue dress is anything but stunning. It does the OP no favours and is really frumpy.

Toastcrumbsinsofa · 06/09/2024 14:08

I like the polka dot dress and no way will anyone would mistake you for the bride in it. Do you have a jacket and/or handbag in a contrasting colour? I’m not so keen on the blue dress as the polka dot one suits you so well.

onfiree · 06/09/2024 14:09

I think you’ve gone from one extreme to the other. The colour of the 2nd dress is lovely but the dress itself isn’t. It’s the combination of the waistline, the buttons, the collar and the sleeves - I think the top half of the dress looks like a shirt for work. If you feel comfortable then great but I think you can do better

Maddy70 · 06/09/2024 14:10

Beautiful. Perfect for a wedding. Not bridal at all

Alittlebitfluffy · 06/09/2024 14:12

Nothanks17 · 05/09/2024 07:01

Please don't wear this to a wedding. Wear it for another occasion, but I wouldn't wear it to a wedding.

Side note - I wouldn't ever wear that myself but it does look fab on you! Get two dresses - why not

I think I agree, just a bit too close

Giving Mormon / Amish vibes to me, sorry!

Agree with others, you look great so could pull off something much nicer than this!

Imustgoforarun · 06/09/2024 14:35

The blue is very frumpy.

how old are you OP? You have a great figure and although the polka dot looks nice I think you could find something better. The white with the dits isn’t the problem is just dull.

IBlameTheDog · 06/09/2024 14:48

I think you look stunning in both. I'd probs go blue for a wedding.

Neither are frumpy or boring etc etc. they're both elegant and classy.

The blue is my favourite I think. And I think you'd be more comfortable in it.

Pistachiochiochio · 06/09/2024 15:36

The blue one is very Kate Middleton. (I'm not a fan of the buttons)

TealPoet · 06/09/2024 20:35

I love the cream/dotty one and I think it looks far better on you than the blue. Unless the wedding theme is cream with black dots I can’t see any problem with it personally.

KaneelStokjes · 06/09/2024 22:50

The polka dot dress would be a lovely races or picnic dress.
You have a lovely figure but the blue dress doesn't do you much good...
You do seem to have a similar style as the Duchess.
