Wedding guest dress - it’s cream

But it’s covered in polkadots, does this make it acceptable?

love this dress and the lady in the shop described it as the ‘perfect’ wedding guest dress but obviously she wants to sell it. I just keep thinking it’s a lot of cream.

It’s perfect and lovely!

NDmumoftwo · 05/09/2024 06:36

I can't help thinking you'd just look like a Dalmatian

But not like a bride. So it's fine.

LostittoBostik · 05/09/2024 06:38

That's lovely - and absolutely fine. Hardly going to be mistaken for a wedding gown!

Thehonestbadger · 05/09/2024 06:39

@DGPP thanks
@NDmumoftwo tbh I wouldn’t usually go polkadot but my husband spotted this and in fairness the cut and fit felt wonderful and really flattering irl. It’s a bit different to my usual

No, it’s definitely not the perfect wedding guest dress. Firstly it’s a bit boring. It’s giving workwear and it definitely looks too close to white. You need to remember that photos may be taken in different lighting that makes it look more white too.

I think there’s hundreds of dresses out there that would look better, and also not potentially cause annoyance

FinallyYouSaid · 05/09/2024 06:39

It's lovely and absolutely fine for a guest dress.

If it wasn't for the polkadots I'd say it was too much cream but the dots change the entire look of it.

SulkySeagull · 05/09/2024 06:39

You have a lovely figure but could do better with the dress. I don’t think you’ll be upstaging the bride in that.

2Old2Tango · 05/09/2024 06:39

Yeah, the large polka dots will make it evident you're not the bride. I love the cut of the dress.

Thehonestbadger · 05/09/2024 06:40

@LostittoBostik i thought the polkadots probably made it ok but I’ve not been to a wedding in years and years so wanted to check!

DGPP · 05/09/2024 06:41

Honestly, don’t ask a bunch of random people on the internet. It’s lovely and if you feel good in it and your husband likes it, it’s a winner. I think you look great

BarbaraHoward · 05/09/2024 06:42

If you like the fit and cut have you looked it up to see if it comes in any other colours?

I think it's fine but if you'll be worried or self conscious on the day then it's not worth it.

My husband spotted this 😂😂😂
pardon the pun 😂😂😂😂

Thehonestbadger · 05/09/2024 06:44

@DGPP
thank you! I think I’m questioning whether DH maybe liked it more than I do. It felt amazing on but I’m not usually a cream or polka dot person (I’m pale so cream usually washes me out) I did love it in the shop but it’s something very different to my usual and worry it’ll hang in my wardrobe unused for years

I see what you did there .

BusyMum47 · 05/09/2024 06:48

@Thehonestbadger

I think it's fine - with black shoes/sandals & maybe jacket or shawl etc, it'll look lovely! 👍

If it fits/suits you well & you feel comfy & confident, it's a winner!!

TENDTOprocrastinate · 05/09/2024 06:48

Nope. Find another colour. I’d be a bit annoyed if I was the bride.

Lovethat · 05/09/2024 06:49

It's gorgeous and not bridal at all.

Candleabra · 05/09/2024 06:49

I think it’s lovely

Pistachiochiochio · 05/09/2024 06:50

Are you wearing a jacket with it (not cream, ideally same colour as the dots)?

If so I think it's fine.

Fairyliz · 05/09/2024 06:50

Daft question but is that picture actually you wearing it, not one off a website?
If so you could wear a potato sack and look amazing; you have a lovely figure and posture.

urbanbuddha · 05/09/2024 06:50

I think it’s lovely but if you’re not sure about it can you find something else with the same cut and fit.

Youmwarayoum · 05/09/2024 06:57

It’s a beautiful dress but I still wouldn’t wear it to a wedding. Anyone who wears an overly white or cream dress to a wedding is very much a look at me person IMO. It’s only one colour to avoid so not hard to do.

You look lovely though, and I would scrap the black shoes for grey. Black is too harsh with the dress.

Thank of the wedding photos. It's going to look way too bright

MimiSunshine · 05/09/2024 07:00

I think it looks like a lovely races day dress but personally I wouldn’t wear it to a wedding.
no it’s definitely not going to upstage the bride but I’d just feel self conscious wearing a predominantly cream dress to a wedding so if you feel self conscious in it then don’t wear it.
