Feral children

Several children, have been arrested in connection with the death of an 80 year old dog walker.

What is wrong with children today? I remember the Bulger case and it sent shockwaves around the world, now people just accept that children kill.

I was reading about this earlier and it's so so awful.

What is happening to parenting in this country?

What kind of punishment are they going to get at their age? It won't be enough that's for sure. Makes me scared for my kids going out on their own.

Silviasilvertoes · 03/09/2024 19:40

And it happened at about 6:30pm, not even late at night. As a PP said, it’s like they’re not even afraid of the consequences for themselves.

Sick, vile .... I'm shocked beyond belief. They should be locked away and never released. I bet a few years down the line they'll be given new identities and new lives - and will probably commit similar atrocious crimes. I don't suppose many will agree with me, but I can't bear this sort of thing. That poor old man 😞

I agree with you!

Getonwitit · 03/09/2024 19:41

Vile evil little bastards, i hope to god they suffer every day of their lives. No doubt they have never been told no, no doubt they have never had a smack on the leg for being a naughty little shit, no doubt excuses have always been made for them. This is what you get when kids are allowed to do as they please. Our country is producing animals at a rate of noughts because parents make excuses. Parents need to bloody parent not try and be their childs friend.
Yesterday evening i was in town, 6pm and already kids are pissed out of their heads or smacked on drugs. One young lass ( about 13) dressed in a crop top and sports knickers rolling around on the road screaming that she wanted Spice. Where was it's parents? No doubt pissed, high and more interested on filming for their insta account.
Our country is done.

MissAmbrosia · 03/09/2024 19:41

Was discussing this with DH earlier. I grew up on a council estate where no-one had much money, but people were respectable! Kids misbehaving would get told off by any adult - everyone knew each other and where you lived and it just wasn't acceptable. How have we reached the point where parenting is so bloody awful?

Children have been murdering in the UK since the 1950s, it's really nothing new.

Yep a sixteen year old girl that I used to know was involved in the murder of a young lad very close to where this murder has taken place and that was well over 20 years ago now. She didn't stab him but kicked him as he lay dying and served time for her part in it.

I doubt very much that these children were ‘gently’ parented. I’d hazard a guess at left to their own devices on devices though.

Lifeomars · 03/09/2024 19:43

I found it so shocking that I had to read the article twice to make sure I was fully comprehending what has happened. That poor man went out to walk his dog and now his life is over. Of course at this stage we do not know all the details of this crime but but the simple outline of it is horrific.

Why is that relevant?

Because someone wondered if it was a racially motivated crime. It was a response to that.

CaptainMyCaptain · 03/09/2024 19:45

Karmakamelion · 03/09/2024 19:38

Why is that relevant?

The victim was Asian. It may or may not have been a racially motivated attack.

Because someone wondered if it was a racially motivated crime. It was a response to that.

Even if the perpetrators were white it doesn't necessarily mean the attack was racially motivated. It could have been. But its important not to conflate things.

RunningOutOfImaginitiveUsernames · 03/09/2024 19:46

Karmakamelion · 03/09/2024 19:38

Why is that relevant?

Because PP pondered on it being a racial attack, which I think many will wonder after the recent riots. If the children in question are also asian then it won't have been racially motivated.

It sounds as though he had reported issues, probably with these kids, to the police as they've reported themselves. The mother who failed to turn up to her 12 year old's sentencing in Manchester recently shows you what's wrong: lack of parenting.

And the ones who took their kids out rioting with them, I am sure I read about one mother who had her teenager with her when she joined in with trying to set fire to a mosque

No but the name and ethnicity of man has been released. Police have also referred themselves to ipcc as apparently there was previous reporters to police about the man’s home being targeted

shuggles · 03/09/2024 19:38

This isn't surprising at all. This is the consequence of a breakdown in traditional values and morality. What did everyone expect?

did I miss a breakdown in the value of not committing murder? Last time I checked that was still socially unacceptable

RunningOutOfImaginitiveUsernames · 03/09/2024 19:47

Oops, cross posted with others!

lightsandtunnels · 03/09/2024 19:48

Just the most horrific story and I can't stop thinking about this poor man and his family and friends.
I know this area well as I grew up there and my elderly Dad still lives there and enjoys going out for walks - so this has hit hard for us - it could have been him.

Apparently the kids have been reportedly throwing stones at this gentleman too. It beggars belief. Parent absolutely need to be prosecuted for their offspring who behave in this way. I do not accept the whole, 'well my kids don't listen to me and I don't know where they are' excuse. If parents do the right job and parent their children from a young age and bring them up to be respectful and kind then the vast majority of these incidents would never happen.

Makes me sick.

PrincessOlga · 03/09/2024 19:48

Beezknees · 03/09/2024 19:36

Just awful.

I do think we need to start prosecuting parents as well. You are responsible for your kids. So many of them just don't care.

I agree with this. Without exceptions, if your child under the age of 18 commits a serious crime, independent of whether you have not even seen them for 17 years, you get a month in prison and a life-long ban on any state benefits (includes confiscation of pension to be paid to a fund of victims of crime).

Might make people think.

Crime is all about the strong taking advantage of those weaker than them (bullying). Women almost always fall into the latter group. There must be tougher sentencing: let's face it, the current situation is not working. When are we going to have "policing by consent", i.e. policing that the 51% of the population need and want?

At an age before they can breed. The signs are there from a young age.

Children have been murdering in the UK since the 1950s, it's really nothing new.

Its since forever, not since the 50s, child murders didnt start in the 50s why on earth would you think that? But it has reduced over time, however knife crime has been increasing.

RickyGervaislovesdogs · 03/09/2024 19:52

Don’t worry, I’m sure once they get some counselling and a few free holidays courtesy of the tax payer, they’ll be fine.

Poor man must have been bloody terrified, along with his pet. His family must be devastated.
