To think my neighbours win a prize for being the first people to

Put up their CHRISTMAS TREE!

I heard them arguing last night when getting ready for bed and only half heartedly paid attention that it had something to do with a light being broken. We both had our windows open but the discussion was pretty loud and they only live across the road. However, at no point did I even remotely consider that they were talking about Christmas lights. I shut the curtains, went to bed and when I woke up this morning I'm met with a fully decorated Christmas tree standing full view in the front window!

So do they win some sort of prize it's still the bloody summer holidays or has someone else beaten them to it?

If you’ve got any Christmas cards left, write one quick and put it through their door. It’s baffling but fun baffling so join in a bit.

Could it be they have family visiting & want an early Christmas celebrating with them. If they only see Grandkids who live abroad they may do early Christmas to make memories.

I've found another one!

Bit of an austere outdoor example but it had multi coloured flashing lights and I've run or walked past the house many times and it's the first time I've seen it so I don't think it's a permanent fixture.

I'm loving all the posts and the tiny tree is adorable I am back with a rather dull update.

I bumped into one of them this morning on the dog walk and couldn't stop myself asking. We don't really chat much but I said to her I'd noticed the tree and was curious, did also add in that I hoped everyone was ok as it was very early.

She said there was no reason for it other than they had been putting stuff in the loft and decided to get it down now so they didn't have to go up again. HmmConfused

I wasn't expecting such a random reason and so stumbled the end of the conversation by saying something about it will be nice to have on as the nights get darker and then it started to rain more heavily so we both headed home.

So it looks like the tree will indeed be up until December and my neighbours are clearly just weird. Confused

Just bizarre. I can imagine it making sense to bring the box and decorations down from the loft, while you were up there - if you very rarely go up to the loft and it’s difficult to do so. But surely you’d put the boxes in a downstairs cupboard/garage/shed…… or just put the box in a corner somewhere….. rather than getting the tree out and actually setting up! 😂

Dd has a mid August birthday.
Summer party in the garden planned, water pistols, paddling pools, bbq, etc

Woke up to grey skies and torrential rain.
Quite the opposite of summer.

So, a rethink was needed

Quick text to guests parents, up into the loft and got the decs down, and it became a full on xmas party instead!

What??

Why would you bring down Christmas ornaments to a child's birthday party in August because it's raining? That's the most batshit thing I've ever read 🤣🤣

SugarHorseSpooks · 04/09/2024 14:56

straight after Halloween then id understand but not before Halloween

Honestly it was not at all the answer I was expecting and it kind of caught me off guard. I did that annoying thing where you walk away with 100 more questions than you had to start with. 😅

I don't think I can bring it up again though which is even more irritating as now I know why they have it up I want to know what on earth possessed them and why they couldn't like you said just leave the boxes somewhere more easily accessible.

Thought my daughter was nuts to put hers up on November 1st, she is a Christmas baby so it's always been special for her

LlamaNoDrama · 09/09/2024 18:29

We saw a house top to bottom in lights this week. We're assuming it's Christmas related but not really sure tbh!

notprincehamlet · 09/09/2024 18:51

It'll look like the Miss Havisham's wedding cake of trees by Boxing Day
