What threads have you seen on here that have lodged themselves into your brain?

For me it's the lady who was gifted a periscope by her dh which was completely random and hilarious.

Also the lady who upset a crow and never came back! Assumed she and her dog were eaten by the crows.

The one where a lady who was secretly planning her escape and had bought somewhere and it was nearly completing. I was really cheering her on. You could here the relief in her posts. Hope she found her happy freedom.

Was that the one who was supposed to complete the sale on Easter Monday... Hmm

Another one that remembers Pamela. Such a brave lady, heartbreaking to read her journey.

Likewise, and the particularly odd way it all ended with someone pretending to be her husband and announcing she had died (which sadly she had) but it wasn't him - he then had to come on and explain the other guy wasn't him - that was just bizarre and a very cruel thing of someone to do.

JurrassicSnark · 27/08/2024 23:06

Is someone able to provide a link to the Pamela thread?

LouLou198 · 27/08/2024 23:07

I can't remember the full story but the OP had bought this strange looking rook as a gift for a teacher! I hope it's in classics so I can try and find it.

OldCrocks · 27/08/2024 23:07

Oh yes, the foster mum's thread was heartbreaking.

But the poster who pops into my head every now and again was called something like GoJettersGirl, whose in-laws were completely awful while her very young son was dying. She posted so bravely and was generous enough to update the thread after he died. I've never forgotten her and hope so much that life has been kinder to her since.

soonandsoforth · 27/08/2024 23:07

Also the Savernake forest thread 😱

I was going to say this too. It was so creepy. It was well written though. That poster should write a book.

ReadingWorm · 27/08/2024 23:09

Snapped and farted.

I also think about the poor women who
endured a pile on when she asked an AIBU over what time she should have left her home on the day the new owners were moving in. It was up all weekend before MN finally took it down.

RabbitsRock · 27/08/2024 23:12

Another vote for Savernake Forest. Love a woo thread but always end up regretting reading them late at night!

dicdicnurse · 27/08/2024 23:12

I recently went to the Sistine Chapel and all I could think about was that post.
I was very disappointed to find my visit so underwhelming Grin

Louise303 · 27/08/2024 23:14

The thread from a lady who's hubby workmate took a photo of her while working nearby.

Mypuppyismad · 27/08/2024 22:38

Oh and also the spooky thread where the man was in the nightclub years later looking exactly the same.

Oooh what was this one?

RabbitsRock · 27/08/2024 23:15

Just searched for the Savernake Forest but it came back empty - how do I find the link?

SantasRubiksCube · 27/08/2024 22:35

I think it's probably still in classics somewhere but there was a thread of reasons people had broken up with girlfriends/boyfriends and it was so funny (things like the date showing up in a leather, fringed jacket or wearing ridiculously ugly shoes, or kissing like they were trying to eat the other person 😂). I try to only remember the funny threads I've come across as there can be some incredibly sad/upsetting ones too.

I think of Pamela too & Claire. Claire’s mum was accused of being a troll but then someone posted the death notice for her daughter. The thread & the way it was written with such regular updates was a little unusual & some posters noticed inconsistencies. The whole thing was a little odd but I do find myself thinking about it.

On a lighter note there have been some funny food threads, I liked the one where the OP was shocked her sons (I think) had eaten a lot of the mince she had cooked. Lots of competitive undereaters on that thread! And the thread about someone trying to take credit for a cream tea hamper & the OP wondering how to deal with it.

Crazycatlady79 · 27/08/2024 23:15

The Voldemutt one was MN gold!

Could you link it?
I remember years ago someone had their wood stolen, I think it was twicklebee or something and when it pops into my head I wonder if she got her wood back

I love the one where a lady had been driving and saw a weird animal She couldn't draw it but described it and another mumsnetter drew it. I think it turned out that they lived near to each other.

twohotwaterbottles · 27/08/2024 23:17

The one about the work colleague who was horrified when he had to pay his own food bill having been a proper glutton. Oh that was a good one! Very satisfying 😂

Gremle · 27/08/2024 23:18

Every time I see a black Ford Ranger I giggle to myself and wonder if it’s RangerMan !
A great thread that went on all weekend while there was a standoff over a pickup truck 😁

CharlotteLightandDark · 27/08/2024 23:19

savernake forest and nightclub man weren’t threads, they were posts on threads about spooky stuff, one of the annual Halloween ones maybe.

Delphiniumandlupins · 27/08/2024 23:20

Pamela - although I didn't read it at the time it was being posted. Read it more recently when a relative was going through something similar.

One thread I fondly remember which was MN at its finest, was a woman on a train journey to a work event and realised she didn't have the right clothing for a more formal function. She wasn't familiar with the town she was travelling to and wasn't going to have long to shop. Lots of good suggestions, info about local shops, offers to deliver dresses and shoes to her.

That was the 'Goatman'. Sent shivers across my spine because both posters described the area graphically and corroborated each other. It got into the Fortean Times or similar I remember.

And her brother was visiting! He was very funny. And in the end the total wanker sent his wife to collect it.

Penguin Bollard was good too. I do love a parking thread.
