What threads have you seen on here that have lodged themselves into your brain?

For me it's the lady who was gifted a periscope by her dh which was completely random and hilarious.

Also the lady who upset a crow and never came back! Assumed she and her dog were eaten by the crows.

The bloke that clapped his hands and skipped about in an elephantine manner as he was going to be a grandad. The kids had absolutely nothing but to say he was pleased and couldn't wait was an understatement. The thread still gets updated.

Ahhh I need to read this, it sounds excellent!

Another one - the lady who got dumped by text with a "don't reply to this" - so she didn't. A long while later the dickhead came crawling back while she continued to ignore him.
Edit - this was RunningInTheRain as per the previous post!

Edited

I came on the say about the ‘RunningInTheRain’ poster. I think about her whenever any of my friends get dumped - she behaved with so much dignity and her ex ended up kicking himself and trying to come crawling back. Ha! I hope she’s happy these days, what a star.

Blinkingbonkers · 27/08/2024 23:41

Pamela was relatively recent - I think of her too. TQ, for whom the mumsnet gin bottle emoji was created, is also missed…. Along with Cat Theif Keith and her most infamous of threads. I would like to know that Onnit is ok (& her dipshit ex got his comeuppance somehow🤞).

Lady who was fostering a preemie baby who was born addicted to drugs. Really humbling thread.

Oh that woman was outstanding. She passed away from cancer in the end. What a loss to the world.

SussexLass87 · 27/08/2024 23:44

A lady with Saz in her username...she thought that her husband was falling in love with his colleague. It was so sad and her dignity about it was just astounding.

I think it was a couple of years ago now, but I still think about her sometimes and hope she's found happiness.

ThisMammaCat · 27/08/2024 23:44

There was a lady in her early 40's who was pregnant with her first baby by a lover who was not committed and who didn't want the child. She was able to go it alone and really wanted the baby but complied with his wishes and terminated. She was so sad and was clinging to some hope that the termination had actually failed. It hadn't. The man was living his carefree life and she was dealing with that grief. I think about her often and hope she found some peace.

AMillionPeopleCheering · 27/08/2024 23:45

When Somerville found love again after her bereavement. That was a wonderful thread.

Bluebellsinthewind · 27/08/2024 23:45

I remember the crow one, I never trust crows now. The woo thread with the guy at the Disco still gives me the shivers years later.

Can't remember the thread, but someone had asked for ideas for things to do with kids. Mumsnetters gave great suggestions including museums etc. Someone replied saying something like kids shouldn't be taken to places like museums etc as they are boring and not for kids. I found that reply really sad and think of it often. Kids are missing out on education, culture and new experiences because a adult has deemed it boring for them.

TrickyTreeLou, chutney man.

Ichangedmynameonce · 27/08/2024 23:46

The one about what we did for our PFBs.....I still laugh remembering the woman who squirted Johnsons Baby Shampoo into her own eyes, to check it wouldn't sting her PFBs eyes 😄

Pamela, still think about that one especially when having a "bad day" which is never actually that bad in the grand scheme of things.

Unfortunately it nearly derailed towards the end but that aside it was heartbreaking.

I was going to say Pamela. She was unreal. I think if her husband and son. I hope they're ok.

Lndnmummy · 27/08/2024 23:48

Pamela
A few years ago a lady posted about her dp spending xmas with his ex rather than with her when she was 38wks pregnant. The thread continued, she had her baby and not long after it transpired her partner had slept with the ex and got her pregnant too. The OP got piled on no end and the usual keyboard warriors dug out some posts from years ago where the OP had had SS involvement. For some reason this thread stuck with me, perhaps as she lived around the corner so I could picture her with her baby in winter waiting for the bus etc. I still think of her now years later and hope she is ok.

My own thread from years ago when my ds had meningitis and night after night loyal mnrs held my hand virtually through the nights of dispair. I will never forget the kindness and compassion shown.

On the uglier side of MN there was a woman who was
so indignant that she had been called a Karen by some black teenagers in the park. It transpired that she had shouted at an autistic little black girl for jumping in a puddle next to her and had splashed the OP's dog. As she was berating the little girl, the girls dad had intervened (he was tending to his other you g child, who had fallen) hence he was a few minutes behind the puddle jumping girl. OP then goes on to have a shouting match at the dad who she felt was 'ever so intimidating'. It was so clear through her post, how entitled she felt and how indignant she was. She had no regard or remorse for making a disabled little girl scared and upset. And she had nothing but support from most posters. It showed a very ugly side to
MN. It broke my heart.

A lady posted about how ridiculous a school WhatsApp group had got and how OTT the other school Mums were, the other Mums happened upon the thread and there was a showdown. I was hooked. It got deleted.

salsamad · 27/08/2024 23:50

I too loved Somervilles threads. Sadly widowed with young children after being in a loving marriage. She was braving dating again and we all went along for the ride as she dated and fell in love again. I believe later threads updated that they went on to have a baby together.

Gutted to have missed it

GrumpyMiddleAgedCow · 27/08/2024 23:51

The lady who fostered the baby born addicted as the most devastating/inspirational

and Sistine Chapel as the most WTF

NoMoreFalafelForYou · 27/08/2024 23:52

The lady whose husband dried his entire body with a hairdryer every night after showering, which apparently took up to an hour. I remember reading that in bed and trying not to wake DH with my stifled laughter.

NeverMindTheBackProblems · 27/08/2024 23:53

There was one just after I joined MN about 15years ago about people farting unexpectedly. I know it sounds purile but I was on the bus home and literally crying laughing. And I am not one who laughs out loud or spits coffee on my keyboard. I knew MN was a place I wanted to stay.
I often think of Lobster boy and also the mum who's trans child has gone away to stay with their partner and mum. I hope they are doing ok. And bless her heart, EarthMotherIAmNot, she was a wonderful woman.
And one of my favourites was the adorable toddler who was staying with a friend while her mum was away who slept in the dog bed and got up to all sorts of mischief. She had a lovely time. If anyone can remember I'd love a link so I can read it all over again! Aunty Buttons maybe?

NoMoreFalafelForYou · 27/08/2024 23:54

Oh I remember this, I ever remember my own contribution to the thread which was that I took a wet cloth and a bottle of Milton to the playground to wipe the chain of the swing when my PFB had his first ever go! 🤦‍♀️

I too miss Somerville. She was very lovely to me when I was going through an horrific divorce and we chatted via PM a lot. I think she's name changed and I hope she's doing ok ❤️

I still re-read that if I’m feeling down 😅

Please share link

Oh my god thank you so much for this thread, I’m fairly new to mums net and didn’t know about the classics page. I’ve just been pissing myself laughing about a post called - to be embarrassed of my boyfriend- or something similar, but in it there’s a typo where she says she ‘snapped and farted’ the responses are hilarious!!

Bunbry · 27/08/2024 23:55

There was a thread about a time-slip in Liverpool (I think) and a suggestion that folks weren't trying hard enough or something if they didn't find themselves in the 1950s.

I don't think it was a typo! I remember reading that in real time and thinking I'd misread it 🤣🤣
