What threads have you seen on here that have lodged themselves into your brain?

For me it's the lady who was gifted a periscope by her dh which was completely random and hilarious.

Also the lady who upset a crow and never came back! Assumed she and her dog were eaten by the crows.

Mrs Devere and the neighbours shed in the garden. I was fairly new to mumsnet and it was the first really gripping long running saga that I remember. We are going back a few years now though.

Yes I have been thinking about the Turd Monster. We have one at work/or a regular visitor that blocks the loo with his monster turds, then puts lots of loo paper on top to 'hide' it. This happens weekly. I am always phoning maintenance and telling them that the usual toilet is blocked! Would love to know if Turd Monster number 1 is still doing this!

AllThatEverWas · 28/08/2024 09:00

Waves - I had hyperemesis too and I thought she was so strong. She was on the Isle of Wight I think with a horrible ex and a difficult pregnancy and other children.

MrsKoala - I was thinking of her last week. Definitely wonder how she's doing these days.

Can anyone link the Pamela thread please?

mexican house thief is a stand out for me and the Sistine Chapel thread.

Also one that I can’t remember all of but a mum lost her daughter. She had a few threads right up until she died. My memory is vague but when I travel through a certain part of Scotland, I always think of that mum and her little girl. It was extremely moving reading the threads.

I think the lady you're talking about is expatinscotland. Someone has mentioned her threads a few posts above yours.

I think about her too. Her daughter would be a young adult now. Her posts were utterly heartbreaking, and I was in awe of how strong she came across.
I hope she has found peace, whatever that looks like after the loss of a child

This. Is. AMAZING 🤩

Flibflobflibflob · 28/08/2024 09:05

The woman who’s husband had a garage/room? she wasn’t allowed to go into. The one where a Dh hadn’t sent off the forms for the 11+ entry exam and had lied about it (thats a LTB from me).

Never found out if that was true or not and if so what was in it. Sistine chapel (my all time favourite) , mexican house thief definitely.

whyw · 28/08/2024 09:09

I really remember the Holiday home one - was it in Mexico? The owner arrived to find a friend/ family member had been staying there without permission! Bonkers.

makingmakingbaconpancakes · 28/08/2024 09:12

I think I joined about 10 years ago, and at the time there was someone who posted who had stepchildren, possibly her own smaller children, and was heavily pregnant. The stepchildren had some quite severe behaviour issues (deliberately urinating on furniture is the one that sticks in my mind) and she was having a hell of a time with them, IIRC their mum used to dump them and go AWOL for weeks on end so the kids were mostly with her and her DP/DH.

She split up with their dad, (I think she may have thrown him out as he was useless) and their mother basically didn't want them so she decided to keep them with her despite everything. I often wonder how it all panned out, I thought she was incredibly strong.

pastapestoparmesan · 28/08/2024 08:00

This was years ago, a poster had two boys (and possibly a girl), the boys both had incredibly complicated eating issues and she seemed to struggle massively with them. She had a lot of other stuff going on too.

Mrskoalabear (I think that was her name)

PuzzledParrott · 27/08/2024 22:26

The Sistine Chapel screamer.

This one, and the one about someone's partner "T-Rexing" in Asda, made me howl.

AnnieMcFanny · 28/08/2024 09:16

always wonder what happened to Ophelia Rose, who had quite a few threads, pre-Covid, about her husband leaving her and their twins for the OW, a colleague with whom Ophelia Rose believed he had "trysts" in the stationery cupboard, if I recall correctly. (I may have made that up, I have an appalling memory.) Ophelia Rose was hearbroken and had terrible trouble coming to terms with the breakdown of her marriage and her husband's behaviour. I think a fair few people thought she was making it up, but MN gave her the benefit of the doubt. I often think of her and hope she managed to move on after the shock

I still think about Ophelia and you can be sure that everyone there is one of these threads she’ll be
mentioned.

lazymum99 · 28/08/2024 09:17

As soon as I read the title of this thread I thought of Pamela. I think it was last summer and has stayed with me.

Oh no. I ended up reading most of this thread last night and feel disturbed now.

Coinkydink · 28/08/2024 09:22

Little red toothbrush’s thread/s the courage it must have taken that day. I hope she is well and would love if some day she popped up to give us an update on how she is doing.

CoffeeLover90 · 28/08/2024 09:23

Pamela, I hope her son and husband are as well as can be.
The sistine chapel.
The woman who heard the eerie music in her garden (I believe)
There was another where rags had been tied to a tree on her neighbours land.

SantaToSSD · 28/08/2024 09:28

It's a long long time ago now but the one thread I still remember is ggglimpopo telling us her 2 year dd, Maude, had died suddenly. It was back in the days when it felt like we all knew each other and so it felt like I really knew ggglimpopo and her family.

SillyMooMoos · 28/08/2024 09:30

SkiingIsHeaven · 27/08/2024 23:16

I love the one where a lady had been driving and saw a weird animal She couldn't draw it but described it and another mumsnetter drew it. I think it turned out that they lived near to each other.

Wow! Has anyone got a link for this??

Polyethyl · 28/08/2024 09:32

Softzilla, where a mother A got mother B stalking her because mother B thought mother A ought to pay the entrance fee for child B at a soft play centre.

BuntyFayreweather · 28/08/2024 09:33

The shaggers in the hedge, the op was advised to turn the hose on them or clap.

The recent thread with the soon to be mature XW who couldn't see she was controlling and greedy.

Re the Savenake Forest posts. I lived near there. My family for hundreds of years. There are many people buried there. Very creepy when the light starts to fade.
There wete historic covens including the clergy. I'm blinking glad I don't live there anymore.

onwardandupwards · 28/08/2024 09:33

The lady who found her 2 year old had passed, Pamela and I think the lady's name was gojetter who lost her little boy utterly heartbreaking 💔

Emeraldiisland · 28/08/2024 09:34

Not that long ago there was a thread about noises in the kitchen and the poster thought it was a mouse. She did post a few updates but then stopped. So don't know if it was a mouse or what happened.

Namechangeforcheese · 28/08/2024 09:37

One that sticks with me was a thread from a mum complaining that her 8 year old was sneaking cheese from the fridge. Not just the odd slice, but eating entire blocks of cheddar on a daily basis. She said he had a good diet otherwise but a compulsion to eat huge quantities of cheese and then deny it.

One day she walked in while he was doing it and although he was standing in front of her with his cheeks bulging with cheese to the extent that it was oozing out through the gaps in his teeth he still insisted he hadn't eaten any.

The reason it sticks with me is that her final question was not 'why is he doing this?', but "should I put a lock on the fridge?'

BiscuityBoyle · 28/08/2024 09:37

I spent a long time exclusively in the TTC, IVF, and infertility boards and never came onto the regular boards until I found the thread where a woman wanted to extend her kitchen into a shared passage.
She was in a terrace house where you have a passage between the houses to access the garden. Her neighbour didn’t use the passage as he was the end off the terrace. She wanted to extend her kitchen into the passage and couldn’t understand why she couldn’t do that.

sashh · 28/08/2024 09:38

Just thought of another Tilly's thread about getting a golden retriever and every other post was along the lines of, "do you know about the hair?"

SussexLass87 · 28/08/2024 09:39

sillygoof · 28/08/2024 08:42

I remember one that ran to three or four threads but I either lost it or she left… I think she was Australian, and her teenaged son was being coerced by his girlfriend, not seeing his family or friends, not going to school. I wish I knew there was a happy ending there.

Yes - such a sad situation! I remember OP posting that they'd broken up and her son was doing much better.
