What threads have you seen on here that have lodged themselves into your brain?

For me it's the lady who was gifted a periscope by her dh which was completely random and hilarious.

Also the lady who upset a crow and never came back! Assumed she and her dog were eaten by the crows.

I remember a thread where (names made up) Annie and Bill were married. Bill previously married to Claire. Claire dying. Annie and Bill had agreed to care for Claire & her family in their home until she died, and then would continue to care for, not only Bill and Claire's shared children, but also Claire's child(ren) from a subsequent relationship

I remember thinking (1) sad story, (2) how impressive that Annie and Bill had offered to do this and (3) wondering what I would do in that situation

pastapestoparmesan · 28/08/2024 08:00

This was years ago, a poster had two boys (and possibly a girl), the boys both had incredibly complicated eating issues and she seemed to struggle massively with them. She had a lot of other stuff going on too.

MrsKoala? She was an infamous MNer…

MummyJ36 · 28/08/2024 08:08

Poor Pamela, I read her threads and felt such hope that she might get to the other side of it and was heartbroken when I read the update that she had passed away.

PulpFaction · 28/08/2024 08:09

Frogspit · 27/08/2024 22:52

This is the one I always think of too. I'm sure the thread was removed in the end. I really wanted an update on that one. It was getting so creepy.
Also the Savernake forest thread 😱

The Savernake Forest thread was actually about a house in one of the Manningfords (M Bruce or M Bohune etc) so although it was in the same county as SF, it's not near there at all.

SF is as creepy as hell though. I am from that area and it has a creepy rep.

I remember the thread where the wife found a skull in the garden and the husband put it in the dishwasher to clean it and it disintegrated completely and turned to sludge. I think it turned out that their newbuild was on top of an ancient graveyard and their neighbours garden has loads of burials in it while theirs just had the head of this body in it.

The one that haunts me & that I think about the most is the thread by Purple Lampshades - such an awful situation for her and her son and how manipulation can so easily affect any of us. I'm so hoping to read some good news ftom her soon. Thinking of Purple often.

i think of her often too. Such a heartbreaking and worrying situation.

Summervibes24 · 28/08/2024 08:12

I don't know if this has been mentioned but the thread one Christmas about M&S picky bits - it was hilarious as the OP just asked a simple question about what to get and got absolutely slated for calling it "picky bits"

pastapestoparmesan · 28/08/2024 08:12

MrsKoala? She was an infamous MNer…

Yes! Wow, you’ve got a good memory!

bobbythejobby · 28/08/2024 08:22

The one where the poster had a cactus with a Santa hat on and was asking for suggestions/trying all sorts of ways to get the hat off said cactus - the OP's updates and attached pictures of said 'Crimbo cactus', as another poster referred to it, had me absolutely in stitches. Still go look it up from time to time just to have a laugh.

Also the one with the lady whose auntie bought her a whole set of personalised items with OP's face on. I think there was a cushion, a full-size canvas, a mug and a whole bunch of other personalised gifts all with OP's photo on them. I think OP said her auntie had good intentions but when I think of that thread i think of walking into someone's house for the first time and seeing that they've kitted out their livingroom with their own face on every item in the room.

parkrun500club · 28/08/2024 08:24

This thread has sparked a few memories:

The mum with high needs kids who had frequent crises - did she also post as hedgehog something?

Jennywren

Not so memorable but one where a poster worked at a garage (reception) and everyone but her was invited to a colleague's wedding.

There was also one about a woman thinking her husband was having an affair with a work colleague (maybe they owned the business) and she was going to turn up at the office - I may be misremembering that one.

Any of the parking on my drive threads where the poster blocks the CF in and goes out for hours - that always makes me laugh :)

parkrun500club · 28/08/2024 08:25

Oh and there was one where someone wanted a particular (cuddly?) toy for their child for Christmas and an army of MNers got one and got it to her. I don't think it was available online so someone went to buy it from a shop near them, passed it onto another MNer etc.

I wish I paid more attention to usernames etc.

And the recent one about parkrun hogging local parks which got to 1000 posts really quickly!

hlc123 · 28/08/2024 08:31

The thread where a poster had lost a stone out of her ring and another mumsnetter retraced the OPs steps and found it!

whalesonthebus · 28/08/2024 08:33

The threads by babynamechange where her child was allegedly being sexually abused by XH but the courts had ruled the overnight visits were to continue. I’ve always hoped it wasn’t real

TheDutchHouse · 28/08/2024 08:35

Dreamingofthishouse · 27/08/2024 22:53

a thread about a lady who was leaving a DV situation in secret while the husband was out and they were fleeing to a far away location and had a very small window of time to leave - hope all worked out well then, I remember that day thinking are they ok, are they ok etc etc.

also lady who had random strange odd happening at her house in village, out on walks etc . Stalker vibes. Again awful.

sistine chapel gives me a chuckle every time I think of it!

That may of been me .. with the support and advice I received here nearly five years ago I fled in a hire car I had hidden from him and left while he was out. I purchased a red toothbrush on the way as it was symbolic to my dire situation.

SoInLuv · 28/08/2024 08:35

A lady who was pregnant with child number 4 or 5 and had a complicated family situation. There was an ex involved. The lady was so loving and she was going to give up the baby for adoption. She didn't in the end. It was a very emotional thread and everyone was cheering when she'd decided to keep her precious baby 👶 💗

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 28/08/2024 08:36

I always wonder what happened to Ophelia Rose, who had quite a few threads, pre-Covid, about her husband leaving her and their twins for the OW, a colleague with whom Ophelia Rose believed he had "trysts" in the stationery cupboard, if I recall correctly. (I may have made that up, I have an appalling memory.) Ophelia Rose was hearbroken and had terrible trouble coming to terms with the breakdown of her marriage and her husband's behaviour. I think a fair few people thought she was making it up, but MN gave her the benefit of the doubt. I often think of her and hope she managed to move on after the shock.
The one I absolutely loved was the Pelican bollards for parking spaces on the Isle of Wight.

SoInLuv · 28/08/2024 08:37

Also a thread "what's your stingiest experience as a guest??*

The stories that people told [whether true or not] were gobsmackingly shocking!

SnotbagAndTshirt · 28/08/2024 08:42

Anyone remember a young woman who used to post - she was really hard up and mumsnetters donated loads of stuff to her for her baby. She used to post regularly and always had some issue going on. One time she posted a photo of herself with her “baby” in a baby carrier from the back view and you could clearly see that the “baby” was actually a teddy bear?

it was years ago but if i remember rightly it turned out that she had some major mental health issues

sillygoof · 28/08/2024 08:42

I remember one that ran to three or four threads but I either lost it or she left… I think she was Australian, and her teenaged son was being coerced by his girlfriend, not seeing his family or friends, not going to school. I wish I knew there was a happy ending there.

Meem321 · 28/08/2024 08:42

DietCokeExtraIce · 27/08/2024 22:40

Pamela, still think about that one especially when having a "bad day" which is never actually that bad in the grand scheme of things.

Unfortunately it nearly derailed towards the end but that aside it was heartbreaking.

Yes, poor Pamela. My mum was dying with the same illness at the time and it was so close to home. Pamela had such hope, I really wished she could have got better but it was too late.

TheCadoganArms · 28/08/2024 08:43

There was a sad thread on here several years back where people were contemplating leaving their comfortable but not entirely satisfactory marriages. Often the DHs concerned were described as decent loving men but for whatever reason contributers were very jaded with life and felt that they had settled somewhat. It just made for sad reading.

The girl dumped him and all was well!

Idtotallybangdreamoftheendlessnotgonnalie · 28/08/2024 08:51

The one about center parcs and anal sex.

According to the husband, having anal sex at centre parcs was a Mumsnet thing and he had got himself a bit worked up on holy and then all sulky and disappointed when it didn't happen.

MelainesLaugh · 28/08/2024 08:54

There was one quite recently where a poster was away with her husband at a fancy dress party and had caught him back in their room having sex with another man. It got deleted and I kept wondering what happened. The last post she did was that she was wandering around the site wondering what to do.

jputthekettleon · 28/08/2024 08:56

Stingy hosts thread. It was so cringey, I couldn’t put it down!
