Going to bed at 8:30 on holiday

Sharingshared · 26/08/2024 20:49

On holiday with DH & kids.
I have turned in at 8:30 after a great day at the beach. DH was planning on going to the lounge area to seeing what's going on, with eldest DC, aged 10.
Ive asked him to stay in the hotel room because I don't see the point of going out at this time. DH has agreed, although it took some convincing. He said I was being strange. Am I?

Not unreasonable to go to bed at 8.30. Completely unreasonable to expect everyone else to stay in.

TheNoodlesIncident · 26/08/2024 20:59

You don't get to dictate what other adults can or can't do. There's no reason why he can't take a dc down to the lounge.

Flibflobflibflob · 26/08/2024 20:59

I’d happily get to bed and wave them off, nice and quiet for my early snooze. Definitely wouldn’t insist on anyone staying in just because I am because that would be mad.

Leafygreen84 · 26/08/2024 21:00

What a control freak. If the genders were reversed people would be telling you to divorce him…just sayin

Justmuddlingalong · 26/08/2024 21:00

Ive asked him to stay in the hotel room because I don't see the point of going out at this time.
Why?
If you want an early night, that's your choice, but to convince him to change their plans because of your opinion is weird and a bit controlling.
Why do your plans trump his?

moppety · 26/08/2024 21:00

If this is a reverse then why did you even agree to it? Just say you're going out and do so? What's he going to do? 🤷‍♀️

Simonjt · 26/08/2024 21:00

My husband is early to bed, including on holiday, I certainly don’t just sit there for hours until I’m ready for bed, I go out to bars, beach walks, see sights in the dark as they’re often lit up etc.

BodyKeepingScore · 26/08/2024 21:00

I would never ask someone else to stay in just because I fancied an early night. That's oddly controlling.

Wendysfriend · 26/08/2024 21:01

That is so weird. Going to bed at 8.30pm is strange itself but not allowing your DH or son to leave the room 😲😲 you are on holiday, the nights only beginning, why does everyone need to go bed so early ? If you are tired from laying on the beach then you go to bed and let the others enjoy their holiday.

Rewis · 26/08/2024 21:01

You don't see the point going out after 8.30 on holiday and make your family stay in the hotel room? That is very odd and controlling. 8.30 is the prime time to go out...and they weren't even going out. If you're tired stay in room and let others enjoy their holiday.

Oor · 26/08/2024 21:01

Surely this is a reverse.

2chocolateoranges · 26/08/2024 21:01

8.30pm and our night our night on holiday is just beginning!

never gone to bed that early on holiday ever, even when we had small children.

happygertie · 26/08/2024 21:01

Eh? You made your husband and kid stay in and you were going to sleep? It doesn't make sense! Why?

Vettrianofan · 26/08/2024 21:01

BCBird · 26/08/2024 20:51

The solution is u go to bed and they go down to the lounge

This

Thisoldheartofmine · 26/08/2024 21:01

Another saying reverse.

Sorenlorrenson · 26/08/2024 21:02

You don't see the point of it ?
God, you're a barrel of laughs to go on holiday with, how controlling.

Bellyblueboy · 26/08/2024 21:02

If this was a man posting he would sound incredibly controlling.

why won’t you let your husband out without you in the evening? Seems really strange

Smartiepants79 · 26/08/2024 21:03

Why have you insisted he stays in too?? It’s fine for you to want an early night nut why can’t they go out for an hour? I’d be pissed off with you if it was me.

It's been 14 mins!!

MrsKeats · 26/08/2024 21:04

Very odd and controlling.

Manyshelves · 26/08/2024 21:05

Why does he need to stay in the room?

soundsys · 26/08/2024 21:05

I was going to say YANBU but why stop them going out? Then you could have some peace/rest?

MassiveOvaryaction · 26/08/2024 21:06

Why does he need to stay in the room just because you want to go to bed?
