There is a boy of 8-9 years old in DS’ basketball class who has a very obvious mullet - I’ve overheard other parents commenting about how it looks and it’s not complimentary.

My judgement would be they probably have quite young ‘trendy’ parents.

I remember them first time round and at the time I thought they were great. It didn't take too long for everyone to realise that they were one of the biggest style mistakes of the 80s and they were the butt of jokes for years.

I genuinely thought someone was winding me up when I was told that they're making a come back.

Awful but they seem to be here. My friend's kids' in Aus have been sporting them for a couple of years.

I love them! I’ve been trying to persuade DS to get one, he’s going to the barbers tomorrow. It’s completely in fashion atm so why not, it’s only hair.

Mullets are an abomination.

Not necessarily young but definitely trendy. It is a thing in east London and I'm not sure how I feel about it because when I was growing up this look was worn non-ironically by the tougher kids, not little Caspian at fencing class.

A friend of mine has just moved to Aus with her three boys and is trying to hold out against the mullets... But loads of their classmates have them and the boys want to look like their friends!

Apparently there is the added practical element in Australia of keeping the sun off the back of the neck. Not an excuse, IMO.

No, it isn't. It's a hipster thing, a football thing, an ironic thing, an everywhere thing.

My son has a mullet, it's styled and looks good, he is 10. Similar to this

Happy for kids of any age to have whatever haircut they like. It’s only hair.

That says nothing about the child, and everything about a bunch of adults who gather round to bitch about an eight-year-old’s haircut.

I think they’re hideous and would far rather see a ‘tidy’ grade one all over 😂
However hair is hair and not something I’d be willing to go into battle over with my children - we’ve all had tragic hair styles in the past!
