Roxxie Tickle. Really? 🤨

His real name is Jason Tickle, apparently. He chose the name Roxanne when he decided he was really a laydee but someone on Twitter thought he should have chosen the name Tess.

That picture posted on the BBC article showing a grim looking bloke - RT - surrounded by what appear to be female acolytes is disturbing on a number of levels.

I hope it enlightens many people who may not have been aware of what a nonsense it all is.

SensibleSigma · 24/08/2024 07:57

Holding steady at 8% as the numbers go up- that’s 89 people .

Interesting that’s about 4 times the percentage of trans people, if remember correctly. So each trans person has about 3 cheerleaders backing them up.

RufustheFactualReindeer · 24/08/2024 08:26

I think their previous name was Tess

omg i just got this!

It's also worth remembering that MN is designated a "hotbed of transphobia" and the TRA's monitor threads here for evidence of our "hateful" attitude so it's quite reassuring that 8% is the best they can manage when they've no doubt issued a clarion call on SM.

It's Yogyakarta that Australia has imported wholesale.
Some good I can see coming out of all this is that the international community is forced to acknowledge that the Yogyakarta principles are thoroughly incompatible with CEDAW.
I hope Reem Asalem is given lots of air time.

I too hope that this will put the brakes on other countries adopting a similar style of law. And I think it will be used to apply pressure so that those who have made laws that would allow no single sex spaces will make changes.

I am increasingly wondering, what is it exactly about women getting together without any men around that is so very challenging for these men?

Now, I understand the need for AGP men like this man to transgress womens boundaries for his pleasure.

But he's being cheered on by so many men, he has such support. Those men do not seem to want women to be able to congregate together and speak together without the presence of any males. I think that they see it as potentially dangerous?

This is why I love MN so much. I love reading what you all have to say and I've found a great depth of intelligent analysis on current issues here. There are men here, but MNetters don't often let them derail conversations.

Here is one of the latest videos featuring Helen Joyce where she goes through the many arguments we see supporting the belief that male people can be women.

Such a great interview, thanks for sharing!

We have an AGP transwoman in this area who, as early as 15 years ago, insisted on joining every single women-only organisation in this area. WI, Women's Centre, Lesbian network, Older Feminist Network, women's counselling group, older women's exercise classes, women's park run, the women's branch of the two political parties, mum's group for new mothers, the women's committee of a couple of unions, lesbian walking group and camping group and every lesbian disco or club night... He was really aggressive and angry and managed to push his way in because no one really understood what was going on or how they could stop him. He was in AGP heaven: validated and with some women, at least, telling him how stunning and brave he was. Of course, the groups and organisations he'd barged his way into tended to fold and disappear not long after he arrived. One man managed to drive all the women-only or lesbian-only events underground — where unfortunately they are invisible and unknown to many women who might want to be involved.

"One man managed to drive all the women-only or lesbian-only events underground — where unfortunately they are invisible and unknown to many women who might want to be involved".

That's the tragedy. I recall a young woman university student posting on here many years ago talking about how all the lesbian groups at her university were disappearing due to men claiming to be women taking them over.

Women only spaces exist for good reasons. As I stated upthread, no women anywhere in the world have campaigned for men to be present when we're undressed, naked, vulnerable or sleeping. It's just another example of male dominance.

GustyFinknottle · 24/08/2024 17:35

Yes, someone was telling me the other day that barely any universities have Feminist Societies any more, and those that do admit men. There is nowhere, even the loos, in the nearest university to me, where a woman can go certain that she won't find a man.

Australia copied CEDAW pretty much in it’s entirety as the basis for their sex based rights legislation - CEDAW was drawn up internationally (in the 1970s I think?). Julia Guillard fucked it up in around 2012 or 2013 when she changed the word sex to gender in the legislation. Effectively making it like Yogyakarta I suppose. At least it will peak Australians - I know looks shouldn’t matter but Roxanne Tickle generates such disbelief cognitive dissonance when referred to as “woman” it’s sure to.

Even the way this court outcome is being reported makes me gnash my teeth - one Australian newscast referred to “transitioning to be female” however the reporter seemed outraged. There was also no mention of the lack of impartiality with the “friend of the court” (meaning advisor on the intricacy of sex discrimination law) funding and supporting one of the parties.

Sigh.

my god, that's horrific!

they may be few in number, but they are huge in damage they cause

I had heard about grass roots community women's sports groups folding and ceasing to exist after men barged in, but this, this is a whole new level of disgusting

I googled the 'Isla' mentioned upthread, and I have to say I'd fully support them receiving 'bottom surgery' to allow them to properly transition. Someone start a gofundme.

on twitter people are commenting on the lack of retweets and support from other TW and TRA for Tickle.

It's a mystery why that might be, I'd have thought they'd be all over this slap in the face to women.

EsmaCannonball · 25/08/2024 09:52

There are so many areas where female-only space is important, not just for safety but for solidarity, openness and being able to flourish. Ironically, female-only spaces are often the places where women and girls can act like full human beings and not second-class women and girls. It's about spaces where men don't have to be humoured, deferred to, centred and generally tiptoed-around.

At some point a woman is going to be harassed, stalked, raped or murdered when a website or app sends a heavily-filtered or AI image-generated man to meet her when she was expecting a woman to turn up for a date or to rent a room. These men are always angrier, more woman-hating and mentally unstable than other men. Will that woman or, if she has been killed, her relatives be able to sue the app or website in that scenario?

I'm not sure if I'm misunderstanding, but the current iteration of the transgender movement that specifically impedes on women's sex-based rights is neither scientific nor progressive if you actually think about it.

While that didn't stop said movement from proclaiming itself as such, institutions and governments accepting the movement without much forethought doesn't mean following the science in other areas unrelated to the movement is somehow wrong (e.g. paying attention to what scientists say about the danger of climate change).

@Helleofabore hits the nail on the head.
Language hasn’t changed per se, it’s language about women that has changed.

What I find incredible is the wanting to be where you are not wanted? It’s dare I say it extremely masculine behaviour. Pretty much every woman I know if she knew her presence would reasonably upset other existing users of the service would quietly recuse herself not shout and scream and go court to force admittance.
