By doing what?

I feel we may be waiting for some time for any actual examples of this supposed "Making a Horlicks of it" and "conduct in court" that this poster claims shows Sal was "aggressive". What did she do to mess up, what behaviours and actions made up this "conduct", what did she do or say that was "aggressive?"

SensibleSigma · 23/08/2024 20:00

they've made it to 96 voters now. It’s good to see how many people think women shouldn’t have their own space.

She probably looked at Roxie funny. I was out shopping just before Christmas last year, crowded high street with people milling about. Someone caught my eye as they walked past. Couldn't for the life of me have told you what it was about them, just something made me take a second glance. And the bloke in the wig and eyeshadow and pink padded jacket gave me a scowl and called me a cunt. Presumably because I was being aggressive...

Pretty sure the suffragettes did a lot of what your describing as "entitled" thinking around accessing male only spaces. I realise a dating ap is frivolous but how is humanity helped by exclusion?

The Suffragettes didn't say "we're men let us in" they said "we are citizens let us vote"

What in God’s name are you on about? There’s no comparison whatsoever.

It's an insane argument by that poster. Also historically illiterate, as others have pointed out. Women's separate spaces were fought for for safety, men's existed for power. There is literally no comparison. Excluding men from women's spaces in certain circumstances is safeguarding, not "apartheid" as some not very bright people like to claim.

I think some of them need to learn about Elizabeth Fry and prison reform. Or the Geneva Convention. Or most of the history of women's legal rights. And take a look at the statistics for male v female violence.

I honestly despair at the stupidity. Also the complacency.

Eleganz · 23/08/2024 20:47

Courts of law are not able and have never been able to rule on what is scientific fact. Judges' and lawyers' opinions mean nothing in terms of the scientific fact that a man in a dress is not a biological female and will never, ever be one. The highest judge in the land could rule that the sky is green, but it would not make it scientific fact.

All this judgement tells us is that the legal system in Australia is not able legally distinguish between a biological female and man claiming he is one.

What that tells you that the legal system in Australia is an ass.

It is not a dating app. It is a supportive space and networking site for women. So that women have a space away from men to discuss things of importance to them without men, who always change the tone and nature of interactions.

Trans women are not women, do not know have any understanding of what it is to be born female and socialised as female in a world made for men. Their only reason to join is to be validated as ‘women’.

I'm sick of hearing shite like this.

Where's all the butch women dressing up as men and trying to get into male places? Why is it always butch men dressing up as women and acting aggressively?

And what a ridiculous name too.

We only have to read MN for proof the worlds gone mad.

No women anywhere in the world have campaigned for men to share spaces where they undress, shower, sleep or use the toilet. This is a male imposed ideology that has determined that confused men will be allowed to use all these spaces and women will put up and shut up. All our male dominated institutions and some led by privileged women have colluded and agreed.

All these hard won rights that women before us fought so hard for, removed in an instant.

Add to this if you will the reality of trans males in senior roles in sexual assault/ coercive control refuges ….
Once I witnessed that I knew there w

I identify as a rich person. I've always known I was rich, ever since I realised I liked nice things rather than shit things.

Oh you poor love, were you APAB (assigned poor at birth). I'm sure money will shortly being pouring into your bank account to affirm your wealth. Stay strong. 🤣

Yes, OP, and it is the whole world, if we look at CEDAW and the potential implications.

Which is to say, this ruling threatens all protections women have ever won in law:

'Crucial to understanding this is the Convention on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW). This is an international treaty adopted in 1979 by the UN - effectively an international bill of rights for women.
Giggle’s defence argued that Australia’s ratification of CEDAW obliges the State to protect women’s rights, including single-sex spaces.
So today’s ruling in favour of Tickle will be significant for all the 189 countries where CEDAW has been ratified - from Brazil to India to South Africa.'

Roxanne Tickle (centre) looks on as she is surrounded by people while speaking to press outside the Federal Court of Australia in Sydney on 23 August.

Roxanne Tickle: Australian court rules in case that asked 'what is a woman?'

Roxanne Tickle has won a landmark case which questioned who can legally claim to be a woman.

This is yet another reiteration of the Cotton Ceiling - male perverts demanding lesbians have sex with them.

PresidentBarklett · 23/08/2024 23:07

Yeah cos 'Roxy Tickle' sounds like the name of the kind of person you'd feel completely comfortable having access to safe spaces for women and girls.

FranceIsWhereItsAt · 23/08/2024 23:22

An absolute outrage! Makes my blood boil! I really hope that they win this on appeal. What sort of judge doesn't know the difference between a male and female? This is one of the most ridiculous and dangerous rulings that I've ever heard!

Bit of a derail but at times like these I find solace in watching Magdalen Berns destroy Alex Drummond.

Sadly this was expected and is unsurprising, because of CEDAW, which Australia imported into law wholesale this is definitely important internationally.

Sal Grover has said all along she will appeal this to rhe higher court.

Unbelievably Roxane Tickle was funded and supported to the tune of AUS$50k by the Australian Human Rights Sex Discrimination Commissioner who also appointed themselves as a “friend of the court” meaning they advised court. Hardly unbiased.

Fucking unbelievable.

It's Yogyakarta that Australia has imported wholesale.
Some good I can see coming out of all this is that the international community is forced to acknowledge that the Yogyakarta principles are thoroughly incompatible with CEDAW.
I hope Reem Asalem is given lots of air time.
