How old is your dining chair and table?

We bought ours 13 years ago. Not cheap but not extortionate. Solid wood. But it’s not very modern.

I still love the table, luckily we picked just plain furniture but we have the money to replace but dh is refusing as they are still in very good knick so he sees no point. God knows what varnish they used but beyond wiping down with a wet microfibre we do nothing else to maintain.

Chairs look similar to first image but I reupholstered myself 7 or so years ago. Material in 2nd image is basically what we have.

Just got watching an interior design instagramer who was just mentioned swapping in and out “pieces” on a regular basis. And I realised beyond cushions, flowers, small decorative items I don’t really do that despite having an interest in interiors and having the money to buy things. Seems a bit wasteful though.

Just wondering if others are a bit more playful with changing interiors.

I might paint but scared to mess up

We had our first table and chairs (from Marks and Spencer of all places), metal and glass with metal and upholstered chairs for about 20 years, then sold them and got our current table and chairs (modern white gloss) about 3 years ago. Not happy with the chairs as they scratch the floor so looking to sell and replace.

We had our sofas and armchairs for over 20 years too still managed to sell them as they were good quality in the first place.

Ours are some old Habitat Van Gogh chairs from about 2000, the rush seats are going but I want to remake them into padded seats. We have gone through several shapes/sizes of table in that time to suit different rooms, but currently have one of Ikea's more solid Norden birch block tables, it was secondhand to us so probably 20 years old. By good luck they look like a set. The problem is anything we changed them for would probably be worse quality or less useful.

The table used to belong to my Gran
The chairs belonged to my parents
So both must be atleast over 50 years old & still going strong

Our dining table is 3 yrs old which we bought when we moved house.

However we now also have room for a table in the kitchen which is our old table. Acquired from my mother in 2007 which she purchased in 1999 from IKEA and still in excellent condition.
