If you are in the fortunate position of being able in terms of material things - ie, a comfortable home, laundry done from home, nice holidays abroad - if your child has already experienced those things, be VERY careful. Otherwise, they can, and will, make your life hell. PUT BOUNDARIES DOWN - deal with tantrums and rudeness, shoot those down, take no prisoners. You should have been doing this from the start, tbh.

OP posts:

Only motherflipper having tantrums over the washing in this house is me.

HelloMiss · 20/08/2024 23:03

@BrianBlessed01

Tell us what you've done!

Butwhybecause · 20/08/2024 23:04

Oh dear! Didn't see the update

I sympathise, OP, I once had to do without a washing machine for three months when we rented a house and all our stuff was in storage, with five of us it was a nightmare!!

If only you'd said in the first instance, it was all rather like the Enigma Code.

TheBeesKnee · 20/08/2024 23:05

Sorry to hear you're having a bad day Hun

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 20/08/2024 23:05

Well, I've got my boundaries in place. The child is scrubbing his socks against a washboard as I type. Holidays mean he curls up in the dog basket for a change.

Spoiling them is a dangerous game!!

What a bizarre thread.

The irony of this when you're literally going on like being able to afford a holiday means you stop parenting 🙄

MrsSkylerWhite · 20/08/2024 23:08

Am I the only person who’s actually quite worried about this post? Puts me in mind of the mother in Goodnight Mister Tom,

larkstar · 20/08/2024 23:09

@BrianBlessed01 still haven't got a clue what you are on about - have you not read your own post out and not realised you've missing some important words out perhaps? Cryptic does not equal clever. Keep it simple stupid.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/08/2024 22:13

I stamp on mine with my bare feet and beat it with stones in the river.
Do I get a prize

Your child or your washing?!

Treelichen · 20/08/2024 23:09

What a batshit post.

Longchampsachomp · 20/08/2024 23:14

Brian, I got mine a BEEF TOMATO on your advice several years ago and I have not heard the end of it since.

AskZoltar · 20/08/2024 23:14

How does the lack of washing machine relate to your kids being wankers though?

User623 · 20/08/2024 23:15

Wahine24 · 20/08/2024 23:09

Prize for the child wooden spoon for the washing.

Wahine24 · 20/08/2024 23:15

LibertyPrime · 20/08/2024 23:17

basically dont let them get spoilt

Newbie8918 · 20/08/2024 23:20

I have epilepsy. When I feel like I'm about to have a fit, I jump in the bath with last nights bedsheets. Does that count as laundry indoors, or am I safe if my bath is actually in a roofless conservatory in next doors garden?

WhereDoWeGoFromHereBill · 20/08/2024 23:25

don't spoil your kids because they will become wankers

No shit Sherlock.

If only someone had warned us with a memorable phrase many years ago.

Something like, oh, I dunno... "spare the rod (as in discipline) and spoil the child"?

Left · 20/08/2024 23:26

Didn’t you last chip in about ten years ago with advice on yoni massage… Or was that another Brian?

Sorry to hear you’re having issues with your kids.

JayJayEl · 20/08/2024 23:30

I'm not surprised your kids are "wankers"...
😂

Mirabai · 20/08/2024 23:36

Did anyone else read OP’s posts in Brian Blessed’s voice?

Edmund!

IncessantNameChanger · 20/08/2024 23:37

Well I think everyone can look back at their own parenting and think you have cooked up when they turn teens.

My eldest was a nightmare at home ( thankfully never out or in trouble - because he also refused school).

OP - your arsehole teen may yet turn into a butterfly. Mine did but he is still self absorbed, clever, charming. Leaves washin double folded on the line for days....

I had a choice of 5 million or going back in time 15 years I'd go back in time. But it's turned out fine. The second son is a delightful 16 year old boy so it's not just us, it's them too.

Has it already been 10 years since Yoni Brian? Is it weird to miss him?

Neveranynamesleft · 20/08/2024 23:48

Sharon ? Is that you ??

Delphiniumandlupins · 20/08/2024 23:52

My point is, don't spoil your kids because they will become wankers.

I think if you had used this as your OP things would have been clearer. Sorry you're having a tough time with your DC. Hopefully they're teenagers and you all emerge (relatively) unscathed
