SS visited today

I recently had a HV come round. She appeared a little rigid and looked like she was attending a wedding but she seemed chatty and reflected back lots of positive things she was seeing. Today I had a SW unexpectantly visit and after she read out everything that the HV had raised, to say I was shocked is an understatement. Both my DH were there and the HV literally fabricated and misrepresented things she saw. The SW was lovely and stated she had no concerns and let me know I could make a complaint (I have).

So WTF! I'm still in shock. The HV asked me at the time whether I wanted another visit and I said no, and then SS turn up!

I once knew a social worker who drove to visits in a jag provided by her husband's company. Visits to people living in one of the most deprived areas of the country. Not a good look.

When I was homeless and struggling to pay for food I was visited by a social worker wearing a LV bag. I felt sick as I could eat long time with the money that bag cost.
I do understand people enjoying luxuries but if you work with very poor and vulnerable clients/patients just leave the bag at home or in the office.

Things have gone a bit nuts in Wales intrusion wise. It's like we're the testing ground for what labour want to see in England. It's really concerning. Especially where children are concerned.

Nanny0gg · 20/08/2024 23:49

5iveleafclover · 20/08/2024 22:37

What a despicable thing to say about OPs husband. You're talking as if he's just a random 'adult male'.

And if the OP was 'stone cold asleep' it wouldn't matter what bed the child was in

Horrible thing to suggest on no evidence whatsoever

ThisOchreLemur · 20/08/2024 23:38

I thought they use an nhs uniform..

I've never seen a HV in a uniform

The ones who visited me and my daughter had uniform. We live in England (south) I don't know if it's different in other places..

It is a dog, right? I mean I know other posters have been derailing the thread going on and on about cats, but they aren't generally kept in cages.

So I presume you mean a dog crate? It is actually a safety issue to allow a child to enter a dog crate because it's the dog's safe space and leaves the child at risk of being attacked by the dog protecting it's territory.

Was that one of the concerns raised?

Are you a health visitor by any chance?
You seem to have the same lack of empathy / understanding and quite good at making nasty insinuations?

Goinggreymammy · 20/08/2024 23:52

Am I the only person who read the OP's first original post and took from it that they have an unusual or alternative family configuration, when they referred to "both my DH" being there. I took this to be the background issue in the SS referral. But maybe I réad that completely wrong.

Gagaandgag · 20/08/2024 23:53

sotiredandconfused · 20/08/2024 21:42

@takeyourluckwhereyoufindit

If you can find her from this then ill eat my hat!

Eat your hat?
No wonder she raised concerns if hat eating is common practice in your home

Qanat53 · 20/08/2024 23:58

HV got hero complex … wants to be the one who has all the excitement & discovers the problem parents (the SW version of Lucy Letby).

My Council doesn’t have performance reviews for SW, no poor performers, no good ones, no feedback mechanisms from “clients” …

dizzydizzydizzy · 20/08/2024 23:58

People are very strange.....

DD2 (now 20) went to 2 preschools. I took her to one and the childminder took her to another. For some reason, the one the childminder took her to had it in for me. They reported DD to social services twice - once for being inadequately dressed - she was wearing a pinafore dress and a cardigan but they thought she should have a top on as well. The other time, she wet herself and so they had to clean her up and they decided that she was covered in bruises, so again reported her to social services. They needed to go to Specsavers - she was not covered in bruises. It was extremely upsetting at the time.

Petitchat · 20/08/2024 23:59

takeyourluckwhereyoufindit · 20/08/2024 22:57

Because there's nothing remotely shocking about being smartly or prettily dressed at work.

So the OP's shock is inexplicable.

Are you a teenager?

Don't you understand OTT?
It means over the top and seeing as OP describes it as wedding attire, I would assume she means over the top.

Do acquire some help with your lack of understanding because it makes it difficult for other posters.

Not so you'd notice. I live in a very deprived area in Wales and there needs to be a lot more interventions.

BodyKeepingScore · 21/08/2024 00:01

Nadeed · 20/08/2024 22:12

I agree with you OP about the way the HV is dressed.

I too would raise concerns at a dad co sleeping with his 4 year old DD while the mum sleeps in a separate bed.

What? Why? So a dad who shares a bed with his child is guilty of what exactly?

HiHo2024 · 21/08/2024 00:01

sotiredandconfused · 20/08/2024 20:55

Yeah, I'm not going to detail the crap this HV reported.

Then why bother making your post.

Why does a person's bag have to have anything to do with patients, if people weren't so fixated on this endless warped jealousy thing and worked on their issues rather than put them onto others 'this can't happen as it will look bad and I will feel judged' maybe things would not be so complicated

twilightermummy · 21/08/2024 00:06

My 8 year old son still goes into full animal mode, sometimes for hours, before I finally snap and say enough is enough 😂
He is suspected to have autism though.

That was an awful suggestion for her to make about your DH. This health visitor sounds nuts.

@Goinggreymammy I think she missed out, "and me". The husband is referred to in the singular throughout the thread.

Ace56 · 21/08/2024 00:07

Sorry but no smoke without fire. If your family are involved with SS there’s a reason for that.

HiHo2024 · 21/08/2024 00:07

NoSquirrels · 20/08/2024 20:18

That is the weirdest explanation of what was misrepresented I’ve ever read on here.

@sotiredandconfused Totally agree with this. TBH If I was the HV and you behaved/spoke/demonstrated a lack of lucidity like this during a visit I would be concerned.

What OP considers OTT or "wedding attire" might be just well dressed to someone else.

There was no need to be rude to that poster.

sotiredandconfused · 20/08/2024 21:06

Another concern... Our daughter cosleeps with dad and I sometimes leave to sleep in the spare room. There was an insinuation because dad is a male and therefore a deviant. It was written and read in ‘that’ way. My DHs face fell, and all I could say to him was ‘im so sorry’.

Bloody hell.

My mum had a long hospital stay when I was 7. I stayed with an aunt and uncle during the week and Dad at the weekends. Sometimes I cuddled in with him. It was comforting, particularly since I was missing Mum.

WearyAuldWumman · 21/08/2024 00:10

sotiredandconfused · 20/08/2024 21:10

My daughters aninal behaviour was regarded as abnormal, including how she spoke (she’ll imitate animals sound). As the SW observed my daughter more she saw a decline in this otherwise innocent behaviour.behavioir that doesn't interfere with her everyday activities, sleep etc. SW stated she didn't have concerns about this behaviour. The HV should have known this, yet regarded it as abnormal (incorrect and used this as evidence?

The HV is crazy.

You don't need to mention every little detail to make a post.

mouseyowl · 21/08/2024 00:13

@Nadeed is Wales 'a poor area' bit of a sweeping statement!

Op you sound a little unhinged.

I'm very MC, the posh end, and I've been to weddings where people turn up liking like they've wandered in from the supermarket, so you are going to have to describe what 'posh' 'dressed up for a wedding' looks like.
I actually observed the posher you are the more disheveled you can look, so she doesn't sound posh to me.

As your DD is likely to be ND did you realise that trauma can manifest as ND, especially in young non-verbal children.
I have no idea if you were defensively spoiling for a fight with the HV or she genuinely has throw lots of complete false curve balls which would obviously would shock and hurt anyone in that situation.

Is the DP sleeping with your DD biologically her father? Because if not (and I know NAMALT) that would make me feel uncomfortable about the situation. I know that's bad, but stepfathers especially account for such a huge percentage of sexual abuse reported. I know loads won't like me saying that, I'm not trying to be inflammatory.
