AIBU to wear secondhand knickers?

Obviously only after washing them for a long time at a high temperature. They don't have any stains on them.

YABU - yes, that's disgusting, put them in textile recycling and go to M&S
YANBU - no, they're no different from any other secondhand clothes

Nope.

No, not in a million years. I draw the line at second hand underwear.

I'm not obsessed with germs or anything like that but the thought of it is just gross to me. You can get new underwear fairly cheaply online anyway.

You raise perfectly valid points, but it would still be a massive nope from me.

Plus a new multipack of 5 pairs is what? £6? You wouldn't get them much cheaper in a chazzer surely??
Also, who is donating worn knickers anyway?? I can just about understand if perhaps you were clearing out and found an unopened brand new packet in a style you no longer liked/fitted into. But WORN???

Mumsnet squeamishness is on another level!

What can possibly be so 'ick' about washed, dried, clean-smelling pants?

roses2 · 21/08/2024 10:44

I've bought many used matching bra and pant sets on ebay - good brands that are £20+ just for the knickers. Nothing wrong as long as they are washed.

It's a shame charities don't accept as I have so many my kids outgrow which go in the bin.

Underwear, socks and shoes are the three clothing items I would not buy second hand. And before people come at me about shoes, shoes mould to our feet. If you buy a worn pair of shoes, it’ll likely cause discomfort or gait issues due to it being moulded to the way another persons feet sit and the way they walk.

I have actually bought second hand shoes( Ecco) and boots but they were clearly only tried on and bought in error

Mandylovescandy · 21/08/2024 14:07

My DC do with stuff that is handed down to us and then between them. I always feel a bit weird when I offer to pass them on again in case people think second hand underwear is disgusting.

virgocatlover · 21/08/2024 19:58

Where would you even buy secondhand underwear, charity shops etc don't accept them do they?
