LaMarschallin · 19/08/2024 08:30

I am OBSESSED by this hack!!!

Mine is: when I put the heating on, I immediately turn it down by 5°. This saves my DH time later.

Is this a hack to get your cat to lick the sink? Because I think it's easier to just wipe it down with a damp sponge.

🤣

Found this top tip, sorry, life hack, on Instagram yesterday

I'm snorting at some of these, but this one's a killer!

BaddestChickenInTheCoop · 19/08/2024 08:35

ReadWithScepticism · 19/08/2024 07:31

Lol at "please no fucking boring tips" underneath one of the very least inspiring "life hacks" I have ever seen. (along with perhaps the world's dullest photo).
Is someone crowdsourcing MN life hacks for their own online content?

If using gravity to drain cans is so innovative for you, wait til you hear this: I use air and sunshine to dry clothes. It's easy! Just tie a bit of cord across your garden and attach the clothes to it with wooden paperclip-type things that you can buy anywhere. Bingo! A few hours later, dry clothes!! I know, INSANE, right???

Oh dear.

Maybe you need some get a life hacks

B1anche · 19/08/2024 08:38

I was TODAY years old when I discovered you don't need a sieve to drain tuna.

foodforclouds · 19/08/2024 08:39

OfficerChurlish · 19/08/2024 05:55

I don't have any insane life hacks that aren't boring, but I do know of several celebrities who were so hot in the '80s and if you remember them you should try not to scream when you see how they look now. Also several politicians whose partners you'll easily recognise, and everybody's talking about the size of their houses.

And all of that is taking (insert here where AI thinks you live) by storm

I deliberately seek out tuna in cans that need to be opened with a can opener because it's a lot easier to drain it properly by pressing down on the lid.

And I do know you can buy no drain tuna but it's more expensive so I'm not falling for that trick.

Just because it has a ring pull you don't need to use it, just open with a tin opener.

Insane life hack is an overused phrases these days.

Your phrase 'no fucking boring tips' is somewhat ironic in these circumstances

Get your cat to do the washing up by pouring tuna water over your used crockery. It won't be long before it's all spotless without you having to lift a finger.

Damnloginpopup · 19/08/2024 07:02

If you remove the contents and put them between two slices of bread you have an INSTANT tuna sandwich.

That's a good one!

Aww poor OP was only trying to share something they thought was cool - why bring them down so much ?? Mumsnet is supposed to be a supporting site -not one to burst another's bubble !

I’m scared by some of these responses

TBF this is a good tip for quick ice. Boiling water freezes quicker than cold water

It's also apparently the way to get clear ice cubes rather than cloudy ones.

doesn't work for me

RetroTotty · 19/08/2024 08:28

You're right. Tim is shit at draining tuna. Would like to know who DOES have Tim for this.

I have a Tim for this….he drains things, cuts grass and occasionally throws his clothes in the corner of the room. He’s my Tim though, not anyone else’s.

BitOutOfPractice · 19/08/2024 08:49

DreamW3aver · 19/08/2024 05:39

You've misunderstood, @Tunotips s hack is INSANE, not run of the mill insane

Was the user name Tunatips already taken?

“Was the name Tunatips already taken?”

oh lord that’s made me laugh @DreamW3aver thank you.

MintyNew · 19/08/2024 08:51

Op if you slightly open the lid and press down directly into the drain you not only drain it properly in a few seconds, but all the smelly liquid goes directly down the drain with no mess.

LaMarschallin · 19/08/2024 08:53

I'm remembering the old joke (while using the life hack "To reuse an old joke and bring it bang up-to-date simply change the subject of the joke to someone/something else!!". You're welcome):

How many times do some MNers laugh at a joke?

Three. Once when you tell it; once when you explain it to them and once when they eventually get it.

It's a bit non-inclusive of the ones who never get the joke though...

toastcrusts · 19/08/2024 08:53

I saw a woman spread squares of peanut butter onto cellophane and put them in the freezer for pre-spread peanut butter! Love a ragebait life-hack

ThisHangryPinkBalonz · 19/08/2024 08:54

Your sink looks like mine😁

Mine too until I painted it pink (left over paint, being tight). I’m concerned this may be outing too,

dijonketchup · 19/08/2024 08:15

I do actually have an insane life hack that will save your sanity.

When giving drinks in cartons to children, first peel up the little triangles on either side at the top so it looks like it has ‘ears’. Put straw in and tell child to hold it by the ‘ears’ as you give it to them to drink. Voila, no immediate squeezing the middle of the carton and getting the contents all over them and you.

Saw someone do this yesterday, life changed.

You win!

katepilar · 19/08/2024 08:58

Are you letting oil dripping into the sink? Damaging the pipes?
