I boil water and put it the freezer.

In the event of my boiler breaking I can defrost it and have boiling water.

😁😁😁

Another one from Viz:
”pop some teabags in your hot water tank and always have hot tea whenever you want it straight from the tap”

muddyford · 19/08/2024 06:30

YABU to call it a life hack. 'Not even very useful tip' would be more accurate.

Our local water company has sent leaflets round asking us all not to drain oils into the sink as they help the formation of fatbergs.

reallyworriedjobhunter · 19/08/2024 06:31

Hi Sheila.

I'd recognise that sink anywhere.

CheeseandOnionCrispFan · 19/08/2024 06:31

And it'll make your sink drain stink. My exDh used to drain fish (he liked it) down the sink & tge resulting smell of pur sink drain was revolting.

FinalInstructionstotheAudience · 19/08/2024 06:33

Another non- aibu in aibu
This is not a hack.
Will the holidays never end???

Not sure that anyone is going to be able to find anything more exciting than that so you might want to lower your expectations

😄 I love me some sardonic wit.

Dying! You guys are on fire in this thread.

XChrome · 19/08/2024 06:45

When somebody tells you it's chilly out, be sure to grab a bowl, a spoon and a handful of nacho chips before you leave the house.
It will change your life.

ImRonBurgandy · 19/08/2024 06:49

This is not as INSANE as my oxo cube hack

TheMarzipanDildo · 19/08/2024 06:57

I think you may have needed to put LIGHTHEARTED in the title OP.

Lentilweaver · 19/08/2024 06:57

Oh now we have moved on from incredibly outing hobbies to outing sinks 😂

zigzagzigzagz · 19/08/2024 06:57

If you’d posted on Tattle they’d have found the last sold price for your house by now.

My foster kitten would absolutely love that. A rolly thing with liquid pouring out of it that smelled of tuna.

Thanks to a tip from a colleague, I now drain the tuna water into an ice cube tray and freeze it. One can produces about 2-3 full cubes. I pop one out of the tray and put it in a bowl for my cat on a hot day. He loves licking it and I know he's getting some extra hydration.

To add, it's the tuna in spring water one, not brine!

Firenzeflower · 19/08/2024 06:59

Early morning Mumsnet is very grumpy.

SelMarin · 19/08/2024 07:00

Thanks OP, doing this just utterly ruined my tomato soup.

Damnloginpopup · 19/08/2024 07:02

If you remove the contents and put them between two slices of bread you have an INSTANT tuna sandwich.

That made me laugh far more than it should have

😂😂😂😂😂

You could use a sieve.

TheCadoganArms · 19/08/2024 07:08

Can we dispense with using the American term of 'life hack' and just revert back to good old fashioned 'useful tip' please.

KateDelRick · 19/08/2024 07:11

Useful tip: what we always referred to as "useful tips" are now known as "life hacks".

That's actually a good idea. You could also use those ice cubes in your gin, for a different flavour.
