to not want to hear this conversation whilst sitting out on my patio? (animal cruely triggering)

I live in a terraced house so obviously can hear everything that's being said in neighbouring gardens and a bit beyond.

My neighbours have gone on holiday and obviously sublet the house either to friends or an AirBnB type thing. The people subletting (from the sound of it) are two young couples, very posh - talking about the difficulties of getting a job in the City. Also shouting at Alexa (in the kitchen) from the garden.

They are eating dinner outside. There is one very loud young hooray, everything he's saying is with a mouth full of food. He's just been talking about websites he's been on where dogs are boiled alive for food and he's seen a whole deep-fried chihauaua, and says he'd love to try it, because obviously it's no different to eating pork. And it's racist to say otherwise.

AIBU to say he's a cunt of the highest order and I don't know why the 3 people eating with him aren't telling him to shut the fuck up. And how can he even have a partner, or friends?

And thanks for getting those images into my head you stupid, fucking, random stranger.

It’s grim, obviously. But you can’t control what people talk about in their own garden (or one they are paying to use). You’ll just have to hope they aren’t staying long.

Newsenmum · 09/08/2024 20:53

It’s absolutely horrible that he wants to try it.
I kind of get that it’s no different to any other animal - but I say that as a vegetarian who takes it as actually we shouldn’t eat any of them!

IHateWasps · 09/08/2024 20:53

What makes you think that we want to hear it too?

IHateWasps · 09/08/2024 20:54

And have those images in our head?

Saggytoot · 09/08/2024 20:54

What a wanker and now im googling boiling chiuauas.

LindorDoubleChoc · 09/08/2024 20:57

I put a trigger warning. I want to know if it's bad enough that I should let the neighbours know?

let them know what? They’re entitled to discuss anything in the garden. What’s your neighbour going to do? Contact them and say their conversation isn’t appropriate? Honestly op, there is nothing you can do about this. They aren’t doing anything illegal.

If it was my neighbours themselves, I would shout out over the fence "do you mind? I can hear everything!" Perhaps I should have done that, moment passed.

And they are entitled to ignore you. They are using their garden, you can’t police what they talk about!

I'm an ardent meat eater and I have absolutely zero desire to eat any animal that has been boiled alive.

LindorDoubleChoc · 09/08/2024 21:08

He's now moved onto his Dad and his Uncle smoking a spliff. "And he's 62!!" And a girl replying "THAT'S INSANE". Fgs.

After a thorough google i think he was trolling. Doesnt seem to be a thing. Perhaps he was just saying it cos he knew you were there to wind you up.

Chickens and pigs are often plunged into vats of boiling hot water whilst still conscious

Nope. There is a festival where they eat cats and dogs. These poor creatures are rounded up and boiled alive. Its barbaric. People are thankfully trying to stop it.
( i also believe the same with lobster, crab etc. nothing should be boiled to death nor eaten alive, it’s shameful.

High welfare doesn’t mean anything when they're being killed, I’m sure the animals would agree.

Honestly I don’t want to be “that vegan” and I rarely am, tbh, each to their own, but really if you’d eat bacon then you should be fine with eating a dog .

LindorDoubleChoc · 09/08/2024 21:33

I've put Radio 2 on as loud as I can stand in the hopes of scaring them inside. I want to scream over the fence "of course 62 year olds smoke spliff, are you actually stupid". As a 61 year old Grin.

I really don’t get why the part about the spliff is bothering you so much!

I also don’t get what on Earth you think you’ll achieve by telling your neighbours about this once they’re back, what do you expect them to do?
Crank radio 2 up even louder, drown them out and enjoy your night!

You are being "that" vegan though. Go tell someone they should be fine with eating pork or beef even if it's a religious or cultural taboo.

Time to put your hose pipe on..............

MyDogsPaws · 09/08/2024 22:02

Eating a dog is no different to eating any other mammal , they are all just as sentient. Cows bond strongly with each other, are highly intelligent and can be playful like dogs. I work next to an abattoir and see animals going inside every day and hear the noise coming from inside and I can tell you that they are just as distressed and in pain when they are slaughtered as any other animal would be😞

hoarahloux · 09/08/2024 22:16

The kid sounds like a twat trying to be edgy, but I don't hugely see why it's unforgivable to eat a dog but okay to eat a pig. Both intelligent animals. And I do eat pork. Each to their own as long as its humane in terms of the death.
