Mine is ‘buttery soft’…If you haven’t come across this phrase, it is mainly used when describing leggings or other clothes, but now I’ve even seen it being used to describe gold jewellery! Also butter isn't that soft…Margariney soft doesn’t have the same ring to it I suppose.. Anyone else?

She suffers from mental health. Having mental health is a good thing. What you presumably mean is that she suffers from poor mental health, or even mental illness.

BrioNotBiro · 05/08/2024 22:24

The patronising "No?", when ending a sentence.

Runn8ngOnEmpty · 05/08/2024 22:24

Surprised no one has nominated "use your words" yet. My eyes roll to the back of my head when I see that phrase.

Anonym00se · 05/08/2024 22:24

“Share children”. I remember when couples used to have children. Now they “share” them. Maybe they parent on alternate days, or one parent has the right side and the other one takes the left.

pictoosh · 05/08/2024 22:25

'give your head a wobble'

Posters who trot this one out think it's the last word in having the last word but it's a meaningless phrase only ever seen on here.

Prontehpronto · 05/08/2024 22:25

"At the end if the day" and "it's up to you"

Marseillaise · 05/08/2024 22:26

"Reach out" when you mean you are contacting or talking to someone. It just sounds utterly wanky and ridiculous.

Monkeysatonthewall · 05/08/2024 21:42

Mumsnet classic - 'give your head a wobble' 🤮😂

Yes!!! I absolutely hate this!

HipTightOnions · 05/08/2024 22:26

"To die for".

"Excited for" (as opposed to excited about).

OuchIsLife · 05/08/2024 22:26

I hate " watch this space"

I think it's because it's taking me to do something and assuming I'm interested

Jessbow · 05/08/2024 22:26

Can I get...........
No, I am here to serve you, YOU cant get it, I can, then give it to you

Whatever happened to be ''please can I have''

COPPER3 · 05/08/2024 22:26

Gobsmacked! - Can't you just say 'shocked'?
My bad. - Pardon? What a stupid comment.

So many more....

Overtheatlantic · 05/08/2024 22:27

Something about an An old fool. I hate that because it’s so naff and doesn’t rhyme.

Mansionscoldandgrey · 05/08/2024 22:27

UltramarineViolet · 05/08/2024 21:28

Reach out

Unless you are one of The Four Tops, then it's cool.

Katiepoes · 05/08/2024 22:27

Midaxi. Wtf is a midaxi length? Is it 1cm longer than a midi and 1cm shorter than a maxi?

Someone mentioned 'a bite to eat'. My mother makes that even worse with 'a bite to eat and a glass of beer'.

This is possibly very specific to Ireland but...Santy (as in Santa Claus)

Firebird83 · 05/08/2024 22:28

Boobing the baby, the baby wants boob etc
Saying something is “a bit off”
”Cherry toms” for tomatoes or “jack pots” for jacket potatoes

colouredpencils · 05/08/2024 22:28

I must be a curmudgeonly sod as I can't stand most of these.

Another is she's beautiful inside and out I don't get it - how can you see inside someone

ihatecoffee · 05/08/2024 22:28

Going to potty -USA speak for going to the loo 🤢🤢🤢

Ick

Awesome

I'm not gonna lie

Marseillaise · 05/08/2024 22:28

Couples who say "we" are pregnant. No, you bloody aren't. Only one person is pregnant, i.e. the person physically growing that baby. Ditto "We're breastfeeding".

CompleteOvaryAction · 05/08/2024 22:28

Not an annoying phrase as such, but the contraction of "a lot" to "alot" - predictive text even corrects it, but I still see it online. A lot.

WickieRoy · 05/08/2024 22:29

Jessbow · 05/08/2024 22:26

Can I get...........
No, I am here to serve you, YOU cant get it, I can, then give it to you

Whatever happened to be ''please can I have''

Get can mean to physically fetch something, it can also mean to receive something. "What did you get for Christmas?"

Also not an Americanism.

Marseillaise · 05/08/2024 22:29

Mac and cheese. Why not just macaroni cheese, it's not difficult to say.

RosaBaby2 · 05/08/2024 22:29

"You do you"

"Making memories"

sammylady37 · 05/08/2024 22:30

pintsizeprincess · 05/08/2024 21:46

When someone says " do you understand where I'm coming from? Or "am I making sense? " when they've just described something so simple that a toddler would understand. A colleauge does it all the time, drives me nuts!

A friend of mine has a habit of saying ‘basically’ before going on to explain something very simple and not in the slightest bit complicated… it is incredibly patronising and irritating.

ISawAMouse · 05/08/2024 22:30

‘My bad’
‘game changer’
