Farage inciting hate and division - Hos much longer do we have to endure this hideous individual?

Safi7 · 05/08/2024 00:31

So Farage now has a video statement on Twitter claiming that the current rioting is “nothing in comparison to what is to come.”

Anyone else hearing reverberations of Enoch Powell’s ‘rivers of blood’ speech back in the 70s?

He is also, ‘just putting it out there’ that the police and authorities are ‘withholding the truth’ - ie. insinuating that the murderer in the Southport tragedy was actually acting on behalf of a wider terrorist network and this is being hushed.

If this isn’t inciting fear, paranoia, violence and division, I don’t know what is!

I notice he’s gone very quiet about his pathetic accusation that Channel 4 tried to set-up Reform by somehow planting an ‘actor’ to trundle around Clacton spouting racist filth.

No Nigel, you know full well who that campaigner was - and the other Reform campaigners in Clacton caught on camera with their hate speech. These are your people.

I cannot abide this man. The damage he had caused to the U.K. I have been abroad this last month and don’t want to come back. Years and years he’s been provoking hate. He has ruined the country with Brexit - but he always has someone else to blame. I don’t think I’ve ever despised a U.K. politician so much. How much longer do we have to tolerate this?

Don't be silly. The day you tell rioters that you'll listen to them is the day that every aggrieved group in the uk starts rioting.

Agree. Remember when Thatcher listened to the IRA. Not.

Beth216 · 05/08/2024 08:09

Farage is a dangerous man and Kier is playing into his hands IMO.

IClaudine · 05/08/2024 08:09

But Farage is nearly 70

I know he looks older but he is 59, I think @MissScarletInTheBallroom . Maybe 60. So no chance of him retiring anytime soon, sadly.

Boomer55 · 05/08/2024 08:09

Like or loathe him, Farage is democratically elected. As is Anderson etc. As was Galloway - all extreme.

These rioters don’t seem to understand that they defeat their own arguments.

Yes, there are justifiable concerns about the Channel, but robbing, stealing, vandalism and violence just drag the arguments into another direction.🤷‍♀️

This.

Starmer's response has been completely appropriate in the circumstances.

Exactly. Appeasement is not the way.

Well said @Deardeidree

They were dragging taxi drivers out their taxis to beat them up because of the colour of their skin. They targeted the corner shops and cafes owned and run by brown people.
And this is people who were born in this country. There is no reasoning with this kind of stupid.

Agree. In many industries they literally cannot get the staff because Brits don’t want to or can’t do the job.
Saying that I think it’s very much a regional issue. My DS is trying to find a job, any job, just graduated from uni and every interview has 30 odd candidates (and probably many more initial applicants).

Who on earth would want to be an Asian doctor, dentist or teacher in Rotherham or Sunderland? Let alone trying to keep a small shop going. I suspect staff shortages won't be improved by these shameful images going global.

Ironic because the ‘we want ar country back’ crowd are usually the type supporting law and order, hanging, support the forces.

We are not 'bringing' immigrants. We are actually already doing a lot to stop and discourage them. But once they're here, we have to manage them humanely surely?

He is 60, easily young enough to be the next PM/Leader of the tory party

There aren’t staff shortages up here, that’s my point. Not in ordinary jobs. Hundreds of applicants for NMW jobs.

I find it galling that my dear niece is a doctor in a hospital in one of the areas affected. She is white British but in a minority since so many of her colleagues are different British and overseas ethnicities, all working hard for the people of this country.
yet the walking wounded and worse being brought in for treatment are as a result of the actions of people who seem to have an issue with any hue of brown face. I bet her colleagues treat them with compassion and professionalism just the same.

let's see what comes out of this Cobra meeting today.

Meanwhile my heart continues to break for the families of the little girls who this time last week were getting excited about their summer holiday activity.

Midnightalready · 05/08/2024 08:15

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 05/08/2024 01:15

You can keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better about yourself, but it won't make it true.

You are a tiny but vocal minority. You make a lot of noise but it won't come to much because there aren't enough of you to make a difference. Most people in this country are much better than what you stand for.

Would that be true of France? Of all the other countries across Europe who are inches away from electing in right wing parties? Are you willing to even acknowledge that people who are uncomfortable with mass migration have a right to their discomfort?

I think you're wrong about these views being in a minority. You think that because most people are scared to say what they think, just as they're scared to object to men in women's loos. People have seen their country radically change over the last ten years, and they're not happy about it.

If we carry on with net immigration levels of over 600k a year, and operating a two-tier approach to policing, and ignoring all the evidence of the rise in crime levels that mass immigration has brought to Europe, then you'll find Farage is right and what happened this weekend will repeat itself over and over again. And you'll get a truly far right government.

He should introduce a decent points system where we bring in the skills we need for any labour shortages and vastly reduce the number of unskilled workers, along with turning back illegals. They can stop in France which is a safe country or numerous others but don’t. That needs to stop.

We've already got that!

It doesn't stop people who don't qualify trying to cross the channel.

You know about the skilled worker visa system don't you?

The one that somehow or other has tripled migration from 200k p.a to over 700k p.a.

Again, how would get these agreements in place with France? let alone make them accept returnees?

Unbelievable posters still come out with such poorly thought out suggestions.

This - I have to concur but that is against the MN hive mindset and such heresy will soon be shouted down.

Mumsnet doesn’t represent what people in the real world think. It was hijacked by political agitators many years ago and is mainly used as a tool for propaganda to influence the gullible. That’s why so many comments are comprised of the same stupid language (‘dog whistle’ and ‘gaslighting’) and why so many posters allegedly have kids with autism and are ‘non contact’ with family.

The internet is a powerful weapon and it is being used to change society.

WormBum · 05/08/2024 08:16

This is not down to Farage - disgusting as he is - it’s down to the government over the last couple of decades allowing there to be a gap which he was able to fill. It’s been predictable that this would happen since before Brexit.

The left must take a look at their actions - shutting down discussion, calling those concerned about immigration racist (and there are valid concerns about it), as they have inadvertently created a breeding ground for those who really are racist to have the space to talk.

Look at the Rotherham scandal. Labour local government turning a blind eye to grooming gangs because they didn’t want to be seen as racist - honestly you couldn’t make it up. What do you think that does to locals?

If we had competent politicians who addressed these issues like adults there would be no room for Farage to break through.

Until the left and their superiority change their approach, until Starmer (as the PM, even though he’s only been in a month!) stands up and addresses the issues that have led to this, I tend to agree with Farage that this is only the start.
There’s too much polarity and divisive issues. We need to find a way to come together and actually sort things out rather than flinging insults.

What worries me about all this rhetoric around immigration is that it's pretty similar to what we heard prior to and during the Brexit referendum.

Remember Farage's famous "breaking point" poster? The people pictured in that poster were almost all dark skinned, and didn't resemble the kind of people who came to the UK from EU countries in any way.

Leaving the EU has obviously had zero impact on illegal immigration, because everyone who came to the UK from the EU was in the UK legally. Now free movement has ended, people from Germany and Spain and Romania are not getting on boats to travel to the UK illegally. Why would they? They already live in the EU, they have no need to. This was entirely foreseeable.

The only impact that leaving the EU could possibly have on stopping the kind of people Farage is now whipping up fear about is if we withdrew from the European Convention on Human Rights. Even the Tories made no serious move towards doing that in the 8 years since Brexit, and Labour certainly will not do it.

So what's the objective, for Farage? What's the ultimate goal here? Is it about money? It is about power? Is he just a troublemaker who wants to cause unrest? Is he doing all of this because he's on Putin's payroll? If he is, there will be no evidence of that which is accessible to the UK authorities. It'll all be funnelled through top secret bank accounts in Switzerland and shell companies in the Cayman Islands.

But Farage is nearly 70. If he's doing it for money then surely at some point he'll want to retire and spend the rest of his days eating caviar off a lap dancer's breasts for breakfast (or whatever floats his boat). He's too old to be the next Hitler.

I'm struggling to make sense of the end game.

Edited

Farage is 60 years old. Born the same year as Kamala Harris and Boris Johnson.

What area in the uk doesn't need immigration to fulfil jobs in nhs, care etc?

There was an Asian doctor on tv earlier - he treated someone and commented on their tattoos to make small talk, only to be told it was an edl tattoo. Who would want to work in any of these areas now?
