Very much looking forward to the court cases

Absolute sub-human scum rioting in the streets. Attacking hotels with humans inside. Burning down libraries and CABs. Pretending it’s about immigration when it’s just mindless animal violence.

I am very much looking forward to their days in court. Starting point for Violent Disorder - two years. Attempted Murder? Life sentence.

Not so hard now, are you lads? Fuck you all. I just sympathise with their wives and kids cos a sentence like that means saying goodbye to any social housing they might live in.

And they filmed themselves. I hope they live in fear of that knock on the door for years. Then when it comes, I hope they realise that they’ve ruined their lives.

Them, and the traitors who encouraged them.

Scumbags one and all.

And frankly I don’t care if anyone thinks I’m being unreasonable or not.

What are you talking about? People don’t get evicted from local authority or housing association property because their spouse goes to jail.

Why should they ? They are not responsible for what other people do and why should their kids be punished.

BobnLen · 05/08/2024 10:17

I don't think they particularly care if they go to jail anyway, it's quite soft in UK jail, it's not like other countries. People like that are probably in and out of jail anyway. The ones that won't want to go to jail will be the online keyboard warriors who are different types of people, often quite mild in real life

I quite enjoy seeing the rioters getting arrested.

I also enjoy the footage of their doors being kicked in at dawn, and rioters being frogmarched out of their houses in their pj's.

I think the news should be showing much, much more footage of the arrests rather than the vandals.

I have not seen this - where?

As if people have a choice. Ridiculous comment.

Of course they have a choice. They could stay in France.

This kind of nonsense talk is exactly the problem. After the Dublin riots a lot of those living along the canal were Pakistani and admitted they had been settled in other countries but they just wanted to come to Ireland. Their perception was streets paved with gold.

Britain has a lot of economic migrants alongside refugees. We need safe routes for both refugees and economic migrants with the skills we need. But we can't send a message "If you survive the boat journey welcome to Britain, land of milk and honey." The message needs to be "You will be repatriated and billed for it because you don't have the skills we need and we can't afford to give you a home and medical care because we're not even providing that for our own citizens."

Portakalkedi · 05/08/2024 10:28

I see your point, OP, but given our pathetic justice system I wouldn't expect too much.

Tumblingjungleofchaos · 05/08/2024 10:28

Sky news this weekend, can't remember exactly when, - a clip of door being kicked in and a woman being taken early morning handcuffed by police

WTF2024 · 05/08/2024 05:47

That article about the rioters stopping cars in Middlesbrough to check the drivers’ ethnicities has scared me (it is all frightening, not just that I know). And the fact that there are 5 Reform MPs - how many will there be after the next elections 😞?

To me that is probably the worst thing in all of this. I understand people's fear and I'm sorry for it. I hope the people doing it are arrested and punished. It's contemptible.

That lady runs several businesses in Sunderland. And allegedly previously convicted of fraud. She was filmed by several people taking part in the riots with no attempt to hide her identity.

I mean it’s way too early in the morning to deal with this stream of misinformation, anecdotes and tabloid informed opinion. I inagine most people on this thread will see it for the nonsense it is.

It is actually international law that refugees must seek help in the first country they come to.

I don't understand your post. What is misunderstanding? I am not against immigrants, but very concerned that this small country does not have the capacity to stay here. When they get here they are disillusioned. That is from the immigrants themselves who I have spoken to.

I live in an all white small town. I am white. I am disabled, and believe me I have to put up with the same stick as minorities. They dislike me because I have black carers, so I have that stick to put up with.

I spent from Christmas to June without central heating or hot water because my gas flue was blocked three times, and someone cut the electric wiring upstairs (I haven't lived upstairs since the disabled living extension was built in 2001) to the immersion heater. The police will not even talk to me about it, because these people are their friends.

I won't move, and I certainly will not be forced to move, because someone doesn't like my carers. My black carer (currently very ill indeed) doubles as a courier. My next door neighbour asked one day if they were still coming to me. Next thing he lost this road and another road where their relative lives. That is two roads, and if you are paid by the parcel, it is shocking.

On more than one occasion the police have followed them home and sat outside. This carer is a devout Christian, and is a good carer for five years.

Runs several businesses - not exactly struggling then.

Apparently over 400 arrests now - very satisfying to hear the figure is growing so rapidly

Crikeyalmighty · 05/08/2024 11:09

@BurnerName1 I'm centre left but I agree with you on your points - I also agree with Labour that we need to be getting to the gangs who as someone said above are spreading the idea to flog tickets that 'it's easy here' - and many have family too in the UK so think it's an easy option - we need to get the message out in the originating country's that these traffickers are feeding you bullshit. Many ( not all but many) of the traffickers are white British too . No different to drug dealers, feeding on others misery for a quick buck- we need to sort out closer cooperation with the EU particularly France- we were not having these large numbers of asylum seekers pre Brexit and far more were contained in France. We also in my opinion need to look at making it easier and more welcoming for workers from the EU again- we have ended up with the Torysallowing basses of 3rd world immigration purely because Europeans were no longer staying or coming for work as we no longer offered an open minded welcoming culture and have set limits on what they can work in and income levels- not all people coming from EU wanted to work in care or the few occupations they were allowing visas on - whereas plenty from overseas appear to have come on legal visas to work in care and evidence shows many skipped that quite quickly to work in other things and it hadn't been monitored/ followed through . The big difference is whole families were coming often with quite a lot of kids - and hence they were high up the list when it came to allocated housing- that isn't ok. They also need education, health etc- in recent times pre Brexit most people from EU had been single younger people not placing so much pressure or professional couples and families on company placements.

The Tory's and leave campaign were not honest with people in my opinion pre Brexit- yes it was a choice but they didn't hilight the fact that it was unlikely to stop immigration of some kind- it would just come more from outside the EU

THisbackwithavengeance · 05/08/2024 11:17

I hate to break it you, but people released from prison are eligible for housing and benefits.

Why are posters taking it so personally? No one gave a shit about the police when they were attacked in previous riots/ disturbances.

This happened in 2011 in Wandsworth (one of the centres of rioting was Clapham Junction). If a person on a tenancy was convicted of certain offences, the tenancy could be ended.

Caused much discussion on MN at the time (because homeowning rioters did not lose their homes), but much local support from damaged communities who did not want those who caused the damage to remain there.

(I was formerly fairly local)

It's due to the antisocial behaviour aspect.

Usually when looking at eviction under normal circumstances from social housing the crime has to be in some way related to the property but the crime and policing act changed this I believe.
One of the anti social Behaviour grounds for eviction are

Intimidating behaviour - threatening or unruly behaviour, drunkenness, harassment and loitering in public spaces

Funny how it doesnt cover harassing other tenants

It would be interesting to know how much this has been enacted (although of course we won't know). I feel very uncomfortable with vulnerable children and/or parents who aren't anything to do with it being made homeless because of the actions of a violent male relative.

I wonder whether one of the Broadsheets will have cause to look into the use of the legislation now.

It's making me very uncomfortable that it's even on the statute books.

Me too I have a downstairs neighbour who has been very abusive and there are other threads on here about the same. They are men And remain in situ.
Yet there is something in the statute books that says their female relatives could lose their SH because of what a male relative has done? Agree with the classism point but it also shows again that property is more important than people.

Feral's don’t think the same as normal people, if they do get a conviction they’ll probably just wear it as a badge of honour amongst like minded people in their community.

When I was watching the news I actually wondered how many of the men already have form for DV and SA I bet it’s a lot.

Here's one rioter wearing his electronic tag on his day out... 🙄https://x.com/jdpoc/status/1819759972776886564

If it was mostly women rioting you can be damn sure that this wouldnt even be on the cards because men arent held responsible for womens behaviour unlike vice versa.
