Very much looking forward to the court cases

Absolute sub-human scum rioting in the streets. Attacking hotels with humans inside. Burning down libraries and CABs. Pretending it’s about immigration when it’s just mindless animal violence.

I am very much looking forward to their days in court. Starting point for Violent Disorder - two years. Attempted Murder? Life sentence.

Not so hard now, are you lads? Fuck you all. I just sympathise with their wives and kids cos a sentence like that means saying goodbye to any social housing they might live in.

And they filmed themselves. I hope they live in fear of that knock on the door for years. Then when it comes, I hope they realise that they’ve ruined their lives.

Them, and the traitors who encouraged them.

Scumbags one and all.

And frankly I don’t care if anyone thinks I’m being unreasonable or not.

@marigoldandrose sounds like they need more staff and more buildings.

How can they make people “sit longer”. Surely people work full time and that’s that. If my boss told me I needed to work longer to get the work done I’d tell her we needed more staff. 😁

That was efficient. So we have a model for it then.

So the rioters were dealt with more harshly than they normally would ha e been? That is just going to support the narrative of 2-tier policing

CormorantStrikesBack · 05/08/2024 07:54

And yes for a one off type emergency I might be ok with working longer, but not for the routine workload.

I was just commenting on the speed.

A poster asked for a link to the legislation with regards to the social housing element.

New grounds were added for possession as part of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.

www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2014/12/section/99/enacted?view=plain

I have no data as to how many if any possessions have been made using these grounds, but do agree that again, as rioting is mainly, but not all men that their actions again are likely to negatively impact women and children.

I don't think there is similar legislation for those who own their home.

That was me, thank you for sharing.

It would be interesting to know how much this has been enacted (although of course we won't know). I feel very uncomfortable with vulnerable children and/or parents who aren't anything to do with it being made homeless because of the actions of a violent male relative.

I wonder whether one of the Broadsheets will have cause to look into the use of the legislation now.

It's making me very uncomfortable that it's even on the statute books.

MouseofCommons · 05/08/2024 07:59

I'm looking forward to how easy it will be to convict lots of them, mobile phone and cctv footage alone with mobile phone location data.

However I don't want people (even scum like that) losing their homes as that creates a bigger problem. And I live in an estate with social housing, and a lot of them are a PITA tbh. Let the courts deal with them instead.

So in 2011 by the Tuesday afternoon of the week after the riots 1277 rioters had been through the magistrates court, 64% had been remanded in custody. Sentences were handed out at hearings and seems like 4 years was the max anyone got for rioting.

No. 4 years was the median. Some people got more.

The housing policy was considered radical after the 2011 riots, such that you could have your tenancy terminated. I dare say if you riot and have a racial motivation then it’s hard to say you should stay.

Call them lots of things: violent, racist, thugs — but please don’t call them animals.
Animals don’t burn down buildings.
Animals don’t riot.
Animals don’t attack other animals in large groups unless they’re hungry.
Animals don’t scream racial epithets.
Animals don’t attack the police.
Animals mainly mind their own business.

Human beings are the only “creatures” who do all those abhorrent things.

Except orcas. They are total dicks.

I'd go with good ole curfews and tags and community service.

But community service is nice jumpsuits that shows someone you're a rioter. And community service that makes them fix the damage they've caused.

I'd love tags that alarm if you aren't at home plugged into a system by your curfew time.

You think hiding behind a mask whilst you do this is clever? Nah. Come out and show the world who you are if you truely believe what you're doing is for the greater good.

100% this.
Excellent idea.

RedVanYellowVan · 05/08/2024 08:21

It would be interesting to know a little about each of them.

Their jobs or career pathway.

The contribution they make to their local communities, eg litter picking, running kids football teams, volunteer drivers, listening to kids read in school, helping at the food bank.

How, if they are concerned about immigration, they have written to their MP, engaged with the immigrants local to them to hear their stories, carefully researched the reasons why people might cross the channel in a small boat.

Why they feel that damaging property, throwing bricks at the police, and creating fear in their community (or that of the area they travelled to) is going to improve anything.

I think it would be fascinating.

MouseofCommons · 05/08/2024 08:39

I doubt they even manage to complete their kids reading diaries.

As if people have a choice. Ridiculous comment.

People do have a choice. It may be between a rock and a hard place, but they do have a choice.

Immigrants have the choice of applying for asylum in the first country the step foot in. Why do they want to come to Britain? The smugglers spin them tales of plenty, so they pay thousands for a ticket on a boat, only to find that there are no streets paved with gold, no job opportunities.

Smugglers earn their great sums of money by advertising Britain as a land of opportunity, with plenty of jobs, lovely houses to live in, anything in fact, to sell tickets. It is not helped by some TV programmes about house renovation, or buying a house abroad. When they see that sort of thing, and are told it can be yours for the thousands a ticket, they don't want to stay in the first country they get to.

They pass through countries far larger than Britain, yet they choose to pay a lot of money to a people trafficker: why would they do that? With that sort of money they could start their own business somewhere, and improve their lives far better than to pay it to a smuggler, come to Britain only to discover how expensive it is to live here. Who tells them that Britain has housing, job opportunities, NHS care and so on. Immigrants don't get free health. When they are established, or when they are here on a skilled worker visa, they have to pay to the NHS. Who tells them that everything is free?

The police dog biting a drunken yob on the backside was the highlight of the weekend. I've watched it several times now to cheer myself up.

Have you seen where that fella gets hit in the balls with a brick.

I mean it’s way too early in the morning to deal with this stream of misinformation, anecdotes and tabloid informed opinion. I inagine most people on this thread will see it for the nonsense it is.

By the looks of the footage, a lot of the rioters are accompanied by their wives/girlfriends and kids.
One woman in Rotherham brought her baby along to join in. Was sat right at the front on the grass between police and rioters showing her baby the action.
A lot of those teenagers are with their dads and uncles without a doubt.

These are families and friends rioting together on a sunny Sunday afternoon.

That’s certainly not the child’s fault though is it. I don’t think children should suffer any consequences for their parents actions

Children always suffer as a consequence of inadequate parents.

I agree about not calling such humans animals.

In addition to whatever prison sentences are given, I would ban those convicted of ever having a passport again (so they cannot abscond as Stephen Yaxley-Lennon appears to have done) and no driving licence (so it is more difficult to travel to so-called protests).

Imagine seeing that on your TV/newspaper and realising you are married to it or in a relationship with it- or any of the others in the photo.

I hope they do lose their social housing.

That will only effect their children and families, make them more disenfranchised and more of a danger to society.

This is all possible. You can have both taken away as part of your sentence.

I quite enjoy seeing the rioters getting arrested.

I also enjoy the footage of their doors being kicked in at dawn, and rioters being frogmarched out of their houses in their pj's.

I think the news should be showing much, much more footage of the arrests rather than the vandals.
