Current riots

Sorry this is probably the millionth thread about this and apologies for posting on aibu but here are my questions about this riot and feel free to widen my horizon:

  1. Why has the tabloids suddenly taken a turn in their reporting? Didn't they encourage this situation from the start and in general creating division and hatred on a daily basis up until now?

  2. Why are they reporting these people as thugs and mobs now after publishing daily hatred to stir things up and that has prepared and encouraged them for what's happening today? Are the editors now scared that they will be held accountable if they continued stirring?

  3. Why are our politicians silent about this (apologies if they have condemned it, I don't use x/twitter) particularly the ones like Suella and Priti Patel and Nigel Farage who have actively worked hand in hand to create this situation again a bit like show. Create a scenario, rehearse with them, dress them up for their roles and put them on stage and suddenly back off once the lights come on and the show starts. Shouldn't the directors of this show which are of course the tabloid editors and our politicians be held accountable for this shit show?

There are plenty more things I want to add but cannot process it right now but I hope this thread creates a civilised discussion. I will probably dip in and out as I finish tending to my lo's needs, so please don't think Ive left the discussion. Btw, I am so ashamed of these people, so ashamed to call myself British.

This has nothing to do with the killings of the 3 innocent girls. This is mostly people we see out and about who are projecting their life failures living as rejects in our society that have been failed by austerity, poverty, addictions, generational trauma and lack of opportunities. As a non white British person, I believe these people weren't racist, they became racist by our leaders and media and they were used by them for their own agenda.

I fear for myself, my children and many others who are in the same situation scared to go out who are law abiding citizens. I can see the bigger picture and I know it's not going to work on what they have actively worked on to create division.

Saw a photo shared by a parenting blogger of the far-right presence in Sheffield. All of five men with one flag! Dwarfed by the counter-protest.

The one with the flag got knocked out & arrested, the rest ran away.

Pity none of it is true.

Why do you think it’s not true?

StoneofDestiny · 05/08/2024 07:37

You know nothing of this child or his parents. I see a happy little boy waving a couple of flags of his own country sitting on his Dad’s shoulders. Your comments are pure and simple prejudice
Selective viewing!
The reporter on site at one of the riots last night was pretty traumatised and commented how adults were showing their children how to target the bricks and missiles they were throwing!
Shameless thugs and this should count as child abuse. What responsible adult would take any child to a riot (and yes - they will have known a riot was the end game).
I’d rather live next to an asylum seekers hostel than live next door to any one of these thugs.

Nothing happened in Stockport, it was Southport.

My apologies, bloody autocorrect changed that and i cant edit posts on my phone.

Purplehazemama · 05/08/2024 10:39

I totally agree. The culture of a minority group in this country lacks respect. Teachers don't feel safe in schools, nurses don't feel safe in hospitals. I know we see the news of terrible people doing terrible things in these roles as well as politicians and the church. But it's a small fraction. I myself have lost faith in the human race now and then though personal tragedy. And anger can take over. But those sick people were not on the streets because of the tragic events in Southport. They were there because mindless behaviour and lack of respect dominates there sad lives. How many of them work for the NHS Education or other vital services and are going to pick up the slack if they got what they want.

Waffle78 · 05/08/2024 11:24

Their saying it's not a race issue but when their targeting hotels with immigrants and Asian businesses it clearly is. Where was the protests against the Plymouth shooter when a 3 year old girl was killed walking down the street with her daddy?

Where were the protests when it all came out about Lucy Letby? Our premature vulnerable babies should be safe in hospital with staff.

When we had the 2011 riots they clamped down on them hard. Hopefully they will this time as well. I've just seen a video of a woman being arrested for organising a protest. 40 odd year old woman with a removals business had her front door smashed in.

They think covering their faces will mean they can't be identified. They will remove it at some time. There's also phone data the police can find out a lot just from someones phone location. They are on about 24 hour courts. Magistrates courts are voluntary so I'm not sure how that will work. Also using empty buildings as prisons.

As for the idiots that turned up with young DC. What parents in their right mind does that? That's emotional abuse the families that live in the area where the first Southport riot didn't feel safe in their homes and had to leave. Children were traumatized. They weren't thinking of those children then were they.

Also the absolute weapon that got hit in the head and balls with bricks by his fellow thugs. Talk about instant karma.

I seen that 🤣🤣🤣 there was another thug that got his shorts pulled down by a police dog.

MrsSkylerWhite · 05/08/2024 11:34

Farage has not been silent, he’s been actively fanning it all week, disgusting excuse for a human being.

Why isn't it? The kids of the far right groups of the 70's are all adults now it's not hard to imagine that they would be following in their parents footsteps. What do you suppose those kids whose parents are taking them to the current shit-show are getting taught at home.

Do you think this lad is being brought up by racially tolerant parents?

Jesus. You only need to look at the father’s face to know Exactly what kind of person he is.

There is no Two Tier Policing - that’s a right-wing Dog Whistle…

Papers & Social Media types are back-peddling, as they know that they can be charge with inciting or conspiracy.

The people involved will be treated the same as the London rioters… they will be crying in the dock as they are sent to prison.

Thing is they raise their heads every few years … Mosleys lot, NF, BNP, EDL .. kick off for a bit, then disappear again

I wish they would be. Media's been stoking and inciting for years, they need to be held accountable.

In respect of Plymouth, they were too busy sulking and deleting their posts insisting that it had to be a Muslim.

So you go by appearance do you??

DdraigGoch · 05/08/2024 20:53

The court was told the boy, who cannot be named because of his age, said “I’m sorry, I wasn’t firing them at you, though”, when he was arrested by police after they gave chase.
He had five fireworks and a lighter in his possession.
The boy, whose father and uncle were in court, has no previous convictions, the court was told.
Iqbal Singh Kang, mitigating, said the teenager had been in the city centre to catch a bus home, and added: “He did not head into the city centre with the intention of causing any kind of disturbance or adding to the disorder.
Is that barrister serious? If the kid didn't set out intending to creat "a disturbance" then why on earth did he have fireworks on him. It's not the sort of thing you can pop into a shop for an impulse buy, not for a 14 year old and especially not at this time of year.

Sorry to disappoint you, but they were always racist.

They were the racist pricks at school who picked on the quiet kid, they glowered at the assertive one, they didn't invite them to birthday parties and they called the non racist kids variations on a theme of -lover. They were the ones who behaved worst of all for teachers of ethnic minorities, would complain they couldn't understand what they said, had their Mums calling in about detentions saying 'She's just got it in for my son'.

They were arseholes to shopkeepers, takeaway staff, bus drivers, members of the public, shoving kids who didn't know them out of their way.

They got jobs where sharing racist jokes was acceptable and went out at the weekend and would have a go at anybody who wasn't like them on the basis of their ethnicity. If they were out of work, they'd complain about the woman at the Job Centre, the doctor who wouldn't sign them off sick, the bloke who wouldn't give them beer and fags on tick, that they can't get a job because of <insert ethnicity/Nationality/rough continent here> taking the jobs. They'd complain about housing, neighbours, everything.

When they had kids, they'd repeat it all over again, teaching their kids the same racism, claiming that <insert ethnicity/Nationality/rough continent here> was the reason why they didn't have a bigger house, a council house instead of a council flat, more money, a big car, a better dog, more trainers, better holidays, any failure in their lives wasn't their own personal failing but the fault of others deliberately targeting them, never because those others were smarter/hardworking/talented/nicer/just plain lucky - success of others was a direct attack upon them.

What's different is that, thanks to the internet and social media, it's easier for them to find more like them, to whip them up into a frenzy, to promise them the protection of numbers, that the police can't possibly catch them all like they were a batch of defective Pokemon. Used to be that they had to find one another from sport, go to the pub, follow the NF graffiti to meetings or just know one another from school/work. It doesn't have to be filtered and disseminated down from an opportunist leader, through the ranks and out to the scavengers - one tweet of lies will reach the bottom feeders and they'll jump to it.

This !
people who act all their out on other people instead of doing any work themselves

Pure prejudice - by definition.

Whenwillitgetwarm · 06/08/2024 04:10

Well the racists have certainly damaged our reputation abroad and will impact investment and tourism. So far the following countries have issued travel alerts to the UK: Australia, Nigeria, Malaysia and Indonesia.

Very ‘patriotic’.

Stop pandering to these violent, parasitic thugs and their false ‘concerns’ which are just an excuse to blame their failures on everyone else and drag us all down like the crabs in a barrel they are. The law needs to come down fast and hard with looong sentences. An international arrest warrant should also be issued for ‘Tommy Robinson’.

EasternStandard · 06/08/2024 06:11

Another night of rioting and Birmingham now with attacks in the other direction

I fear loss of control. Incredibly concerning

missdeamenor · 06/08/2024 06:25

Why can't we set up a fair asylum system? Why can't we set up a fair benefits system? It's all talk and no action. These fit and healthy looking people would not have the time or energy to riot if they had full time jobs.

Certainly looks that way. They have nothing to lose.

This man is/was a painter decorator, doubtless complaining about east europeans taking his work.... taunting the police, until he was hit by bricks

No wonder people don't like employing uk workers.

https://news.sky.com/video/southport-riots-cctv-footage-shows-violent-clashes-13188600

Rich or poor, there is zero excuse for this total lack of respect for law and order.

@missdeamenor You'll probably find that most do.

Stephy1886 · 06/08/2024 06:39

That is such a nasty post.

So a small child is waving flags for England and the UK - do you know why he is excited and waving flags.
Since when does waving the country's flags mark him out as 'far right'.

Evvyjb · 06/08/2024 06:57

The kid in the picture has his middle fingers up on both hands... not happy excited waving!

leafybrew · 06/08/2024 06:59

StoneofDestiny · 04/08/2024 21:42

These thugs and knuckle dragging hooligans are the ones I'd like to declare unfit to live in the UK. (Though I cannot imagine any other country deserves them either). They all look as if they have spawned from the same sperm bank. They have vomited all over the memories of the murdered children and clearly never had an iota of compassion for their families. They have endangered the lives of our police and local citizens and set about stealing from shopkeepers and wrecking their businesses. They have targeted mosques simply out of hatred. (Or do they attack Christian churches every time a Christian kills someone?)
These people are thick as mince - carrying Anarchy symbols yet demanding migrants follow rules of travel - you couldn't make it up! Anarchists demanding rules are followed.
These people really are the ghastly dregs of our society.

Completely agree
