Biological men should not be fighting women how is this even happening ?? Two 'women' failed eligibility tests by the IBA. Yet the IOC deem them suitable it's mind boggling

It's very simple. The IOC need to bring back swab testing.

Don't go getting all sensible now.

Me? Who am I and what do you know me from?

What’a so abhorrent to you about people who stand up against misogyny?

Omlettes · 02/08/2024 09:25

Naunet · 02/08/2024 09:24

If a man isn’t white, he should be allowed to hit women on international tv, and if you say no, you’re all racists.

No ones buying it mate.

Is Nicola Adams an armchair boxer too or might she have a lot more knowledge about the testing involved than some male violence apologist like yourself?

Agreed. That poor athlete, people as usual jump in with two feet without actually understanding what the athlete is, she is not trans she has a complex rare medical disorder. Disorder of sex development, read up on it and stop calling this woman trans she is not!!

But "she" is a man. That might have been ambiguous at birth, but it's not ambiguous now. HE shouldn't be competing against women!

NoWordForFluffy · 02/08/2024 09:27

Dulra · 02/08/2024 08:03

(To be fair, I haven’t seen anyone say that the boxers are transgender. All reports have either said too much testosterone or DSD)
That's all I have seen. JK Rowling for one refusing to calling her female and continually referring to her as male.

They're a man. That's why.

Your understanding is wrong.

The only qualification according to the IOC was an F in their passport.
The IBA actually did tests and these two boxers failed. It was not a testosterone issue, they have been explicit.

Now, I have empathy for athletes with DSDs while they are teens discovering who they are. I have none when someone is well aware of their sex status but is choosing to ignore it for sporting and financial success.

There are women who have been and still are permanently displaced by the inclusion of these athletes who are competing in theme wrong class.

Is it known what the IBA used as the basis for the test?

Play the ball not the man: should xx fight xy? That's it. As for "culture wars", I would say these were started and continued by those whose actions erode women's boundaries to single sex spaces, terms and thoughts. Such lazy thinking as yours "oh culture wars! People I don't like may agree with this fundamental aspect of reality and I might catch cooties" is a big part of how this has got to this f*cking ridiculous state.

There is a photo on line of the boxer concerned in the ring yesterday of the #pinktights variety

This one?
Ive just had an apologist on another thread dismiss it as a wrinkle in his shorts😅

DifficultBloodyWoman · 02/08/2024 07:52

Frankly, transgender or DSD doesn’t matter.

XY should not compete against XX.

(To be fair, I haven’t seen anyone say that the boxers are transgender. All reports have either said too much testosterone or DSD)

Edited

The BBC are determined not to mention the DSD or what it means. I have seen so many people describe this individual, and Semenya, as 'biological females with a DSD' when they are actually male. It's massively confusing people. The lack of transparency is very troubling and I would like to know why they are taking this approach, and that is where I think the trans angle is relevant. They aren't trans, obviously, but so many people walk on eggshells now around the issue. DSDs have been massively weaponised by TRAs when they're an entirely separate matter.

NoWordForFluffy · 02/08/2024 09:29

A 'wrinkle'? 🤔 That's a new name for it!

purpleme12 · 02/08/2024 09:30

So why is he/she female on the passport? I've not come across DSD before so I don't understand

Your posts are full of misogyny.

Why are you more concerned about Khelif than Carini? Than other women he puts at risk of brain damage or death when he hits them in the face? Or the women he has done out of a place at the Olympics?

Endofweekagain · 02/08/2024 09:32

CautiousLurker · 02/08/2024 09:17

The IBA checked chromosomes as well as hormones. And a significant sized penis was also visible in the TV footage/stills.

I appreciate there may have been some ambiguity as to Khelif’s sex when small, but it is quite clear that this changed when puberty hit. I think as other Pps say that there are unscrupulous trainers and a whole financial backdrop to sports/competitions/sponsorship that has lead to corruption. In no way should Khelif be in a ring with a woman.

I can’t even feel compassion - it is obvious he is a male. He, his family, his coaches know it. He knows we know it. His smugness, his smirking and his groping of his oppnents breast as a parting shot of dominance demonstrate it. It may not be a case of a ‘trans’ athlete, but he and his team his appropriating the acquired privileges the trans movement has established.

Absolutely all of this.

Exactly.

Shrieking ‘culture wars’ as some silly gotcha that means you don’t have to engage with an issue, confront any difficult feelings that you might have been wrong, or apply any critical thinking, empathy or fairness to the actual matter at hand isn’t an effective debating method with anybody over the age of 12 and is symptomatic of the lazy thinking that has got us into this mess in the first place.

Nicola Adams speaks

I saw Nicola box at the ExCel centre in 2012. A terrific fighter. I care about what she thinks. I think SHE is stunning and brave.
