Biological men should not be fighting women how is this even happening ?? Two 'women' failed eligibility tests by the IBA. Yet the IOC deem them suitable it's mind boggling

Sex is determined in three ways: chromosomes, hormones, sex organs.

Normally, all three align to determine ones sex.

In DSD, there is a misalignment between the three. This misalignment defers for each person with the diagnosis. Some will have the XY chromosome AND the hormonal profile of a man, but sex organs looking more like females. Others though will have the XY chromosome AND the female hormonal profile.

My understanding is that they were tested for their hormonal profile and the result was more of female than male at this time and that's why they were allowed to compete.

The IBA checked chromosomes as well as hormones. And a significant sized penis was also visible in the TV footage/stills.

I appreciate there may have been some ambiguity as to Khelif’s sex when small, but it is quite clear that this changed when puberty hit. I think as other Pps say that there are unscrupulous trainers and a whole financial backdrop to sports/competitions/sponsorship that has lead to corruption. In no way should Khelif be in a ring with a woman.

I can’t even feel compassion - it is obvious he is a male. He, his family, his coaches know it. He knows we know it. His smugness, his smirking and his groping of his oppnents breast as a parting shot of dominance demonstrate it. It may not be a case of a ‘trans’ athlete, but he and his team his appropriating the acquired privileges the trans movement has established.

@GiddyMember Your continued use of 'white women's tears' is rather telling.

Do you find pleasure in making women cry? Do you think that 'white women' deserve it?

There are certainly plenty of men out there celebrating this. It's not because they love sport.

I think the only person on this thread discussing Khalif being trans is you. You use super loaded language (never heard the expression "accusing of being trans" before) for a complex topic that calls for compassion where we know there are no simple solutions that can be reduced to soundbites.

people with DSD are either male or female

there is no mysterious third sex

the IOC are misogynistic cunts

Quite:and eyesight is a pretty useful indicator a further diagnostic test could be worth while (oh, and how the chuff are people STILL trying to defend this?!?!)

The athletes have failed to be classified as women previously and they and their coaching teams all know that they are male. They have chosen to enter women’s competitions because the IOC has less strict rules.

It’s like classifying age by the number of birthdays you’ve had and saying someone born on the 29th February is technically 5 and can enter a children’s competition. You would hope that person had the integrity not to.

I agree with this. When those competitors went through puberty they will have realised they are not female.

They’ve failed tests before, and they know they are not competing fairly. As do the entire team supporting them.

KatieTaylorMadeMeDoIt · 02/08/2024 09:19

I give far more fucks about what Nicola Adams thinks about issues in Olympic boxing than the desperate derailing and trolling of some MRA fool.

There s no racism, there’s misogynists like you trying to hide male violence against women behind racism to shut the conversation down. Shame on you.

KatieTaylorMadeMeDoIt · 02/08/2024 09:20

Bro you know 😂

purpleme12 · 02/08/2024 09:21

I googled this whole thing and I just couldn't find any official source saying if he/she's born a man or born or female or got that DSD.

Confused about the whole thing

BunfightBetty · 02/08/2024 09:21

KatieTaylorMadeMeDoIt · 02/08/2024 09:08

The racism argument is taking the piss.

Black women have missed out on a spot in the Olympics because of this foolishness. A black female boxer could get seriously hurt fighting a biologically male boxer.

Woman tears when a man punches her in the head and calls himself a winner are not the same thing as ‘white women tears’.

Shame on those reaching like this. And to what end? To pander to male feelings over female safety and the future of female sport ? Fuck that.

Edited

This.

It's very simple. The IOC need to bring back swab testing.

I cannot think of a single valid argument against this.

People are being incredibly cruel about the "male" competitor. This isn't a man who has decided to pretend to be a woman so he can win easier or hit women. This is a woman, assigned female at birth, raised as a girl, with all the disadvantages of being a woman in our society. Who has been found to have a genetic condition that corrupts her entire identity. People deliberately calling her "him" and a "man" and comparing her to domestic abusers are quite frankly, vile, uneducated bullies.

She has XY chromosomes, she also doesn't have the same advantages as a man becuase of her genetic condition, she has some physical advantages but not all. She can't compete against men becuase of her genetic disadvantages to them. She can't compete against women because of her genetic advantages to them. It is very unfortunate and she is not a villain.

But why pick boxing? Any sport would be bad, but boxing?
If 'she' kills a woman in the ring one day do we still wring our hands and feel sorry for 'her'.

This is all fine up up until the point where you don't bother to explain why you think there is an absolute right for any individual to participate in an activity - in this case, to compete for international medals - but don't consider other individuals to have a right to compete fairly or safely.

It's always the same. Women as a class are expected to surrender their freedoms.

Why aren't women whose sex status is not ambiguous not entitled to protection of their dreams and ambitions?

Trans is not the same as being a man. How ignorant of you.

This athlete has a DSD, and is male, according to everything except their passport. That’s why people on this thread are saying so.

So why is it specifically this athlete that is being challenged, and not the thousands of other non-white competitors?

There are 45 Algerians competing at the games including 18 women - yet I haven’t heard similar challenges about these competitors.

If this was about race, would t these athletes be attracting similar attention?

Windymoore · 02/08/2024 09:23

FrothyCothy · 02/08/2024 09:06

If the Algerian boxer does have Swyer syndrome, does that include androgen insensitivity?

I’m as GC as they come but wavering on this case. If the athlete has a vagina and uterus and no testes, where is the testosterone coming from and are they even sensitive to it? I suppose I’m trying to work out what “advantage of male puberty” the athlete has? If they were raised female then their societal experience is that “of a woman” also (for what that’s worth/whatever it means).

There is a photo on line of the boxer concerned in the ring yesterday of the #pinktights variety

It doesn’t call for compassion. Olympic sport, or indeed and sport, is not based on compassion.

It’s based on fairness and integrity. In this case that means the integrity of women’s sport as a single sex category, and fairness for women in only competing against other elite women.

If a man isn’t white, he should be allowed to hit women on international tv, and if you say no, you’re all racists.

No ones buying it mate.

Is Nicola Adams an armchair boxer too or might she have a lot more knowledge about the testing involved than some male violence apologist like yourself?

Which White woman is refusing to play against any female Black boxers? Asian boxers? South Asian boxers?

Which White woman is crying when she loses in a fair fight against a female Black boxer, and getting everyone to say the female Black boxer is mean?

Which women didn't say a word when Laurel Hubbard (who is White) took an Olympic place from a New Zealand Maori woman? Albeit Hubbard is trans and we know Khelif is not. Because I heard a lot of White women saying that was unfair too.

It’s misogyny to care more about This boxer, than all the women whose lives are ruined and indeed are at risk fighting him.
