Biological men should not be fighting women how is this even happening ?? Two 'women' failed eligibility tests by the IBA. Yet the IOC deem them suitable it's mind boggling

I do know that changing sex in Algeria is illegal, so she isn't trans. If she was assigned female at birth then it stands that she presents with female genitalia.
My argument isn't whether she should be allowed to compete, that is down to the IOC, and I totally agree that people should question and challenge their decisions. My argument is that it is totally unacceptable to call someone a cheat, an abuser, a male woman beater, when she was told as a baby and a child that she was a girl, and has trained and worked hard just like any other athlete.
There are other female boxers that think she should be allowed to compete. As I mentioned before, Amy Broadhurst who beat ber in 2022. If she has such a huge advantage why isn't she winning everything? If she is THAT much of a danger.

Time to comment as if you are adding something but not enough time to read the thread and find out you're not.

No one has suggested Khalif is trans.

There has been plenty of discussion about DSD's, ambiguous genitalia and availability of testing in some parts of the world.

Being born with ambiguous genitalia and assumed to be female doesn't make someone female in reality.

Please read the thread before accusing people of hate.

littlbrowndog · 02/08/2024 14:39

Ok. Lin has much longer arms.

Helleofabore · 02/08/2024 14:40

Asherrain · 02/08/2024 14:29

Well your post calling her a cheat is pretty offensive. Seeing as she has applied just like every other athlete and been allowed to compete.
I don't necessarily agree with her being allowed to compete, I don't know enough about her, I haven't seen her genitals or reviewed her private medical notes.
All I do know is that at birth she was assigned as a female so presented as a female to medical professionals at birth, raised as a girl, and that the IOC allowed her to compete, so in this instance she isn't breaking any rules, and therefore isn't a cheat.

This is a male athlete, who knows that they are a male athlete. They have known clearly since 2023 that they have a physical advantage over female athletes, hence were excluded by the IBA.

What do you call a male person who actively chooses to enter a ring, knowing they have physical advantages over the other athletes, knowing that their very punches have male power behind them inherently dangerous to those competitors, but does this anyway to seek acclaim and win the Olympics?

littlbrowndog · 02/08/2024 14:41

Lin just won 2 nd round by all 5 judges

littlbrowndog · 02/08/2024 14:42

You can see the woman boxer is totally pissed off at this

Willyoujustbequiet · 02/08/2024 14:42

Nicola Adams has now come out and said it's unfair and dangerous.

What is this???!!! Listen to yourselves people.

It's a post about a man.

Being topless.

On a beach.

GiveMeSpanakopita · 02/08/2024 14:44

littlbrowndog · 02/08/2024 14:39

Ok. Lin has much longer arms.

Yes, men have a significantly higher wingspan ratio than women

This is another reason why it's wrong for men to compet in women's darts

ArabellaScott · 02/08/2024 14:45

Lin 'won'.

ChishiyaBat · 02/08/2024 14:46

Lin is also a cheat! How is the woman he fought?

Not THAT much of a danger! FFS! Seriously, did you think about this before you typed it? Do you mean that it is just a little bit of danger? Maybe an amount that female athletes should just suck up to be kind? Or maybe it is an acceptable increase in danger in your view, and that female athletes should just accept it because, after all.... they choose to box (we have had that one several times, it is not new).

Other female athletes think this male athlete should be included because they are kind. Not THAT much of a danger.

Perhaps you should understand that it has been widely understood for years now that female athletes feel that they cannot publicly say anything about male inclusion in their sports for many reasons. Including losing their places on teams.

Amy Broadhurst came as close as she felt she could. She dared say that she had never felt a punch that hard in ring.

I really don't think you have thought this through at all.

KeirSpoutsTwaddle · 02/08/2024 14:46

I’m furious. And DS has pissed me off by saying Imame is a woman and I shouldn’t judge people on their looks. 🤐

littlbrowndog · 02/08/2024 14:46

He is so much taller than her.

she is crying. He won easily.

so not fair.

if you think it is fair just watch that match

Tommeetippee · 02/08/2024 14:46

Why do these athletes (trans/DSD) choose sports where sex doesn't matter or where both sexes are pooled together (like Equestrian, tennis, badminton)?

littlbrowndog · 02/08/2024 14:47

Nice long levers according to the commentary 🙈🤦‍♀️

ArabellaScott · 02/08/2024 14:48

"Number one seed, ring-craft.." 🙄

KeirSpoutsTwaddle · 02/08/2024 14:48

I’m particularly interested in the dissonance of claiming Imane is at risk in Algeria if we raise any suspicion about their sex, while Imane presents more like The artist formerly known as Prince than an Algerian woman.

Midgegreenstreet · 02/08/2024 14:48

Willyoujustbequiet · 02/08/2024 14:42

Nicola Adams has now come out and said it's unfair and dangerous.

So a black, lesbian boxer has condemned this but we're all bigots for being mean to the Algerian "woman" of colour?

Honestly the quality of some of the arguments on this thread in favour of men competing in women's sports are laughable. I'm pretty sure Serena Williams would beat my husband in a tennis match but it doesn't mean it would be fair competition if she had to compete against men all the time.

littlbrowndog · 02/08/2024 14:49

She was crying.

GiveMeSpanakopita · 02/08/2024 14:50

Turdibekova was crying.

I would be fucking crying too if I spent my life training for a sport and then a bloke cheated in front of the world, took my trophy and everyone applauded him

GrumpyPanda · 02/08/2024 14:50

Borninabarn32 · 02/08/2024 09:45

Did I say she should be allowed to compete? No. I actually said the opposite.

She has worked incredibly hard, just as hard as everyone else. Of course if they allow her to compete she will, she's been told its OK for her to compete, so she's going to, she's a sportsperson. Sportspeople often take on competitions with people they know they outcompete, that's literally the point. A boxer isn't going to say "no I'm not going to fight that guy, he's not as good as me" you see many many fights where one of the fighters has a natural physical advantage over the other. So I don't think she's wrong for wanting to compete knowing she has a natural advantage if the organisation is telling her she's allowed to.

I don't think the organisation should be allowing her to though, but I also don't think they should be allowing people to use specialist, expensive equipment to make it easier in other sports either, the shooting for example.

But the vitriol and cruel comments and deliberately calling her a man are absolutely disgusting and just make me think these people have more hatred in their heads than brains.

If you found out that your friend that you'd known as a girl her whole life found out that she actually has XY chromosomes and a genetic disorder but wanted to continue living as the same person she had always been instead of changing her whole identity would you refuse to call her by the same name you'd always called her, start calling her a man and he, and saying she wasn't allowed to use the same toilets as you becuaee she's a MAN and HE shouldn't be pretending to be a woman so she can be in womens spaces?

People are calling this individual a man in response to the endless media gaslighting on this question. See the continuous BBC coverage of Semenya as "a woman with naturally high testosterone" when it's been widely known for years that Semenya is a biological male with testosterone in the normal male range.dEmand that

And secondly, people are emphasizing the "man" because a polite, #be kind "woman" is continously seized on as a gotcha to demand that therefore, the individual in question MUST be included in women's sport.

I fully recognize that's awkward for Khelif - especially considering that apparently their father didn't want them to enter boxing because it's inappropriate for a woman. Poor bugger.

Helleofabore · 02/08/2024 14:50

ArabellaScott · 02/08/2024 14:48

Turdibekova was crying.

This is so fucked up.

ChateauMargaux · 02/08/2024 14:51

I posted this on another thread ..
The IOC or Paris Boxing Unit do not require competitors to be XX or to have female levels of testosterone to be eligible to compete in the women’s category.

Those objecting, do not think that this is fair or safe. The overwhelming majority of sporting organisations, including athletics, swimming, and cycling, have implemented 'transition before puberty' and 'testosterone below 2.5nmol/L' rules for eligibility into the female category.

Mark Adams is defending the position that identity takes priority and eligibility to participate in the female category should be based on identity.

His statement on 'returning to the bad old days of sex verification' is disingenuous:Sex verification does not require medical doctors to inspect genitals before a race. It requires a cheek swab / blood test which is no more invasive than peeing in a cup for the drug testing.

As is his statement on women with high levels of testosterone:Healthy males have between 10 and 35 nmol/L of testosterone, healthy females have between 0.5 and 2.4 nnol/L. To say anything else is a distortion of the truth. Anything outside of that should require medical sign off.

The boxers and footballers in question have not claimed to be XY, to have testosterone levels below 2.4nmol/L or to have transitioned before puberty.

The Court of Arbitration of Sport concluded that it is reasonable to have restrictions to preserve fairness and safety of the female class.

The IOC, Paris Boxing Unit and FIFA are out of step with this conclusion and out of step with the major sporting organisations.
