To ask what ‘far right’ means to you?

Let’s not make this a Southport thread, just a political one. I consider myself a centrist and voted Lib Dem (to get us back in EU but that’s another story).

There’s been a lot of talk of ‘far right’ on here over the last few days, but very few observations on what far right actually means. To me it means things like capital punishment, enforced religion, open state misogyny, a blanket ban on abortion, homosexuality being outlawed, that sort of thing.

To me, having justified concerns about immigration, having views on new house building, voting Conservative or disapproving of Just Stop Oil protestors doesn’t make you ‘far right’. Centre or right of centre perhaps, but not far right.

What do you think?

No, she's a self-employed designer, and expats in Saudi are expected to live in compounds. She grew up in the Middle East, and doesn't feel her life is restricted. As a household, they are reasonably well off.

I mean…you’re proving PP’s point, here 🙄

Mmm, like the guy being interviews in the news that said that immigrants get all the jobs. And when the presenter asked him if he worked. He said he hadn’t for a few years, what with having got out of prison for assault … and when the presenter said ‘ so you think immigrants are the reason you don’t have a job rather than your criminal record - he’s says yes.

THAT for me is the epitome of the far fight, absolute thick fuckwits, casting around for people to blame their own failures on.

Literally what DH and I have been saying. My mum and Dad are now rabidly racist - hate foreigners, love Farage, and blame all their ills on immigration or other countries.

Mum didn’t go out to work ever, we lived on the breadline with my self-employed trade dad being out of work as much as in work. They twice bought shops which went under and bankrupted them. Finally getting straight with no mortgage they sold their house, cashed in Dad’s pension, got 2 loans and bought an apartment in Spain. They bubble burst, negative equity, have to rent it out permanently to pay the loans.

They then voted Brexit and shot themselves in the foot even more. Now living on basic state pension/pension credit in a mobile home, and blame everything and anyone but themselves for how they’ve ended up.

Especially ‘boat people’.

The frightening thing is, there’s so many of them out there. You see it on FB, casual racism thrown into every conversation or these days outright seething racism, utterly uninformed bile pouring out of them.

Oh and that guy with the ‘assault’ record - turns out his a convicted sex offender … young girls…
But it definitely the ‘boat’ people stopping him from being employed, not the fact that he’s a nonce.
which sounds better though, when he’s telling his sob story ?

You didn’t live on the breadline if your parents managed to buy two shops, pay off a mortgage and buy an apartment in Spain. You don’t even know what living on the breadline means.
