Lin Yu-ting and Imane Khelif: Boxers cleared for Paris Olympics - BBC Sport

They are both biological males. Its to IOC, International Olympic committee. There will be a protest and i know another female Irish boxer has pulled out but surely this cant stand. The women could be seriously injured.

Lin Yu-ting and Imane Khelif: Boxers cleared for Paris Olympics

Two athletes are cleared to compete at the women's boxing at the Paris Olympics, having been disqualified from last year's World Championships for failing to meet eligibility criteria.

Apparently abandoned the match after a couple of hits.

Brave woman. Not only to step into the ring but also to say Enough.

littlbrowndog · 01/08/2024 11:33

He punched her right in face then she abandoned the fight

HappierTimesAhead · 01/08/2024 11:34

She is the winner in my eyes, brave woman.

littlbrowndog · 01/08/2024 11:34

BingoBangow · 01/08/2024 11:34

For any reader who believes that any female person can have testosterone in the 'male range' please look at this chart.

Plus

This is from a PCOS advocate on twitter.

PCOS raises female testosterone to up to 5.5 nmol/L (and above 4 can cause serious issues).
5-ARD raised Caster's testosterone to 21 nmol/L.

Sean Ingle (Guardian sports journalist) mentioned this

The latest scientific publications clearly demonstrate that the return of markers of endurance capacity to "female level" occurs within six to eight months under low blood testosterone, while the awaited adaptations in muscle mass and muscle strength/power take much longer (two years minimum according to a recent study). Given the important role played by muscle strength and power in cycling performance, the UCI has decided to increase the transition period on low testosterone from 12 to 24 months. In addition, the UCI has decided to lower the maximum permitted plasma testosterone level (currently 5 mol/L) to 2.5 mol/L. This value corresponds to the maximum testosterone level found in 99.99% of the female population.

The International Olympic Committee framework on fairness, inclusion and nondiscrimination on the basis of gender identity and sex variations does not protect fairness for female athletes

In adulthood, circulating testosterone concentrations do not come close to overlapping between females (0.1–1.7 nmol/L) and males (7.7–29.4 nmol/L).

I can't watch as I'm at work! What's going on with the fight?! Has the woman just stopped fighting and walked off?

As I understand it, both of these fighters are intersex not trans. Kehlif has presented as female since birth and was involved in girls’ boxing from a young age. As far as I’m concerned trans people should not be competing but if these competitors are genuinely intersex, have never presented as men and have been in the women’s game for life then the argument is more nuanced and comes down to the authorities making a fair medical decision based on whether the individual has an unfair advantage.

but if these competitors are genuinely intersex... the argument is more nuanced and comes down to the authorities making a fair medical decision based on whether the individual has an unfair advantage.

No. And its DSD not Intersex.

These are MEN with difference of sexual development, regardless of the way they present or the culture that they might have grown up in (which is a whole other discussion), biologically, medically they are still MEN.

It doesn't matter what they present as or how long they've been getting away with it.

They are MEN and it is dangerous for them to be competing in contact sports like boxing against women.

Do we go "Oh poor love" at these MEN and handwave away the very real danger of serious injury, brain damage, or death to the women they are going to be hitting?

"Fair medical decision" for the women boxers anyone? No? Just for the MEN regardless of the collateral damage to actual women.

I hope there is a global gofundme set up for Angela Carni, the poor girl? Have the Italian organisation made noise about this?

Yes. I think when he hit in her face she just thought I don’t want to get badly injured

itsmylife7 · 01/08/2024 11:36

is this slaughter of a woman by a man going to be televised ?

CaveMum · 01/08/2024 11:36

Looking at the official result on the Paris 2024 website, the match was abandoned after 46 seconds.

littlbrowndog · 01/08/2024 11:36

The fight is over. It was televised

Cleebope2 · 01/08/2024 11:37

Disgusting, revolting, disgraceful

littlbrowndog · 01/08/2024 11:35

Yes. I think when he hit in her face she just thought I don’t want to get badly injured

I imagine that feeling the full force of a man punching her once was enough

fridaynight1 · 01/08/2024 11:37

For anyone not watching.
Fight started. He punched her in the face. She put her hand up and abandoned fight. Ref declared him the winner. She walked off and refused to congratulate him. Brave, brave woman, I think she was in tears.

CakeAtFour · 01/08/2024 11:37

What an absolute disgrace. Shame on the IOC.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 01/08/2024 11:38

@ilovemoney Which Irish boxer has pulled out? I know Michaela Walsh is in the same category as Yu-Ting but she hasn't pulled out as far as I know. I didn't think any of our boxers were in the same category as Khelif.

BoreOfWhabylon · 01/08/2024 11:38

Brave, brave woman. She was shouting "it's not fair" in Italian

Abandoned after 46 seconds. Fuck every single bastard who allow or enable this shit.

Did he 'celebrate' or look happy? How could he possibly feel proud of this is beyond me
