Lin Yu-ting and Imane Khelif: Boxers cleared for Paris Olympics - BBC Sport

They are both biological males. Its to IOC, International Olympic committee. There will be a protest and i know another female Irish boxer has pulled out but surely this cant stand. The women could be seriously injured.

Imane Khelif and Lin Yu-ting

Lin Yu-ting and Imane Khelif: Boxers cleared for Paris Olympics

Two athletes are cleared to compete at the women's boxing at the Paris Olympics, having been disqualified from last year's World Championships for failing to meet eligibility criteria.

maybe, but they still look distinctly feminine. People say ‘you can’t tell’, but very often you can. Neither of them look like biological men.

🤣🤣

At least reply to me in the full context of my comment. What’s funny?

OK, because you can't understand I will try and spell it out clearer. And I did clarify this.

The Southport thugs all rocked up with their cider and special brew because of inflammatory language on the internet. I find some of the language used in here to be just as inflammatory as that.

Like calling posters and their words 'disgusting'?

I've always been slightly wary of the TERF mob but this is an outrage and hopefully will mark a turning point in biological males being banned from women's sport.

If you don't mind me asking, why?

Its things like this that the 'TERF mob' are speaking out against

I mean it’s almost like a government could manipulate this for their own purposes. Maybe we should give Tyson Fury a passport with F on and get him in the female category to ensure we get a boxing medal.

That would certainly level the playing field!

or maybe women should be allowed to take testosterone to bring them up to the same strength as these other ‘women’ now competing.

KeirSpoutsTwaddle · 01/08/2024 14:32

He looks like a woman in the same way the artist formerly known as Prince looked like a woman.

Sorry - I did mean to say that thugs bussed into Southport. Multi tasking and I do apologise, as I know very few were actually from Southport.

BUT, it was caused by language used on social media

More misinformation from @JusteanBiscuits stating the thugs were from Southport.
You are proving your ignorance on here everytime you post.

BeerForMyHorses · 01/08/2024 14:32

It seems like there isn't any genetic testing for the Olympics. He has been banned from many other world championships/ competitions for failing genetic testing/ testosterone levels.

It appears that you just enter male or female and as long as you have the paperwork to prove it, it's open play !

Blondiebeachbabe · 01/08/2024 14:33

TheCosyNavyViper · 01/08/2024 14:07

Well thanks for that.

I am a woman. And no, not a trans woman, a real one, born and lived that way my whole life. But I can see if you're throwing that at me you're not going to listen.

And FYI, I have had all of those experiences, and worse, and as I have said already, I do carry around that fear of male violence with me everywhere I go.

It's actually something very important to me. I lost count MANY years ago of the number of times I've aged exactly that, to men who won't listen.

But using that line still doesn't mean that a featherweight trans woman is particularly more dangerous than an elite middleweight woman. It just doesn't.

You are talking absolute rubbish.

My first husband was a tiny man, who had never been in a fight in his life. I was trained to fight as part of my job. He attacked me when I was in the process of leaving him. I didn't get the chance to use any of my "moves", he over powered me and pinned me down, and I had absolutely no chance to get away. I only lived to tell the tale, because he came to his senses and stopped what he was doing.

HTH.

What I don't get is if indeed, the circumstances of her sex is so obviously that she is stronger, why did she only come at 33rd place in 2019 world championship?

I think it is sad that clearly most posters here are crying outrage and linking this to male violence against women without even bothering taking any time to do even the most basic research on what DSD mean.

I don't know, let's just say that Richard Madeley entered the Women's 100m sprint competition at the Olympics and didn't win it. Would you conclude that men don't have a physical advantage over women when it comes to sport or would you conclude that Richard Madeley is just a really shit runner?

Any sympathy for them ends when they decided the silver lining of their medical condition was taking the opportunity to cause great harm to women.

I can't speak for Lin Yu-ting, who has also failed an eligability test, but Khelif has competed at World level and the Tokoyo Olympics before this became (pubically anyway). I think a degree of sympathy is in order - as far as they are concerned they are and always have been female.

That being said - the decision should have been made by the IOC to exclude them from the games.

TheKeatingFive · 01/08/2024 14:33

T1Dmama · 01/08/2024 14:28

Royals will 100% not get involved in this.
They can’t risk being accused of being transphobic… the anti royalists will have a field day twisting her words!

I'd prefer to see high profile sports stars take it up. But there are some awful cowards out there (Gary Lineker springs to mind).

And I’ll say again a biological man competing against a biological female is a wee bit unfair. It means biological woman will be beaten by athletes who are inherently stronger and faster than them due to their physical make-up.

And yes, that matters.

I dunno what the answer is - maybe give biological female performance enhancing drugs. Or would that be unfair? 🙃

Thewildthingsarewithme · 01/08/2024 14:35

@teacher45646 that’s because there is a very narrow definition of a woman, just the biological one, hope that helps ☺️

Khelif also failed eligibility tests - no?

But regardless, as his appearance makes his sex quite obvious, I doubt anyone is falling for the 'he didn't know' line.

If he had a little moustache and a goatee and a purple guitar he would actually look like Prince. Except Prince championed women throughout his life.

“gender criticals”

For those reading along, this is an example of the dehumanising language that some activists use.

“gender criticals”.. like some kind of other thing that is not human. The term originally was used for gender critical feminists who rejected gender stereotypes defining how a woman or girl should live their lives. However, a group of activists who disagree with the feminist position of prioritising the needs of people who are female (those born with a body formed around the production of large gametes) over those who have a gender identity, detached the feminist from gender critical feminists. This was a way of silencing feminists, from shaming them by misrepresenting their views as being those who are aligned with other groups who believe that sex cannot change.

Because sex cannot change. That is a scientifically proven fact. Just like the sky might appear blue sometimes.

So now “gender criticalsis a term that those gender identity prioritising activists use to vilify and demonise others. Because feminists are somehow now sex fascists.

A poster using the term 'transes' would be rightly deleted. Because that is dehumanising transgender people. So, you have to ask yourself, why a person who believes they have some kind of moral superiority seeks to dehumanise the people who they disagree with? Could it be that they are the ones who are so prejudiced and who have views that are so unable to be supported by evidence and science that that is all they have?

People who think they are transgender are mentally ill. There is no other conversation to be had other than getting them the mental health services they need.

Lets have a conversation about Dylan Mulvaney for example

Interesting to read the different headlines depending on political agenda behind the papers. Some reporting female athlete's nose broken by athlete who failed gender test. Others stating athlete cries and abandons fight after 45 seconds....

Frenchsplit · 01/08/2024 14:35

I do boxing and I can assure you that there is a massive difference between men and women regardless of size.

This is clear cut. The boxing organisation the IBA deemed this boxer to be ineligible to compete in women’s boxing. They appealed but then withdrew the appeal.

It doesn’t matter if they’re trans or intersex or neither or both or whatever. They were not eligible within the rules. For some unknown reason the IOC has decided to ignore that

Edited

The answer is sex segregated sports and back to sex testing if that is what it takes to ensure safety and dignity for women.

Not difficult at all.

I think Mulvaney is an attention seeking, tedious grifter, rather than mentally ill.
