Lin Yu-ting and Imane Khelif: Boxers cleared for Paris Olympics - BBC Sport

They are both biological males. Its to IOC, International Olympic committee. There will be a protest and i know another female Irish boxer has pulled out but surely this cant stand. The women could be seriously injured.

Imane Khelif and Lin Yu-ting

Lin Yu-ting and Imane Khelif: Boxers cleared for Paris Olympics

Two athletes are cleared to compete at the women's boxing at the Paris Olympics, having been disqualified from last year's World Championships for failing to meet eligibility criteria.

“They are both biological males”

Forgive me for sounding dumb but if they are both biologically males what is the issue? And if they are both biological males why are they in a woman’s category?

There's 2 male boxers in the female category this year. This fight was just one of them against an actual female.

The other hasn't fought yet I believe.

vivainsomnia · 01/08/2024 14:20

What I don't get is if indeed, the circumstances of her sex is so obviously that she is stronger, why did she only come at 33rd place in 2019 world championship?

I think it is sad that clearly most posters here are crying outrage and linking this to male violence against women without even bothering taking any time to do even the most basic research on what DSD mean.

I still find it shocking how little understanding some people have about the physiological differences between men and women. Not even just men and women - it's also pretty much any boy from puberty onwards.

They understand it just fine. They know who the women are when it comes to sexist insults and threats.

Because they have paperwork that says they’re female. That’s literally all it is that has allowed them into the women’s category.

This is an Algerian football team's response, they're totally fine with battering women apparently.

Whilst I don't want to sidetrack the thread, and this is far from the point of it....

No it's not.

That is no more the Algerian National Team is, that some one with a St George's cross is the England's team account, or someone with a Liverpool badge is the Liverpool FC's account.

Go on.... check it out....

@Coconutter24 They're not fighting each other, they're fighting actual women.

As to your second question, you may well ask. They shouldn't be, of course.

\what are you on?? Thats a male footballer who plays for manchester united!

My mistake, they look so similar. Here's a correct image.

They could be sisters.😉

What the fuck makes you think that? We know people with DSDs are either male or female, what part confused you?

WetBandits · 01/08/2024 14:25

I’ll admit I am very confused as there isn’t much (or any) evidence to say that they are transwomen.

Googling both of them suggests that they were born female. They each have feminine qualities to their facial features and physiques. Androgynous haircuts and frequently broken noses, maybe, but they still look distinctly feminine. People say ‘you can’t tell’, but very often you can. Neither of them look like biological men.

Likely failed hormone testing if they’ve been using testosterone as a PED, which would be deserved as it is cheating, but I doubt very much that either of them is a transwoman.

IsawwhatIsaw · 01/08/2024 14:25

how was this ever allowed or thought acceptable? She must have been terrified getting in that ring. An absolute betrayal

Apolloneuro · 01/08/2024 14:25

Princess Anne is a member of the International Olympic Committee. I’m trying to find a way of contacting her to convey my horror. She does have a Twitter/X account, but doesn’t seem to have posted for years.

We need to create a HUGE storm about this, peacefully, or course.

T1Dmama · 01/08/2024 14:25

All of the women need to come together and refuse to fight a man….
They shouldn’t have to forfeit their chance to compete, but sadly women have had to forfeit their own comfort and human rights to protest against misogamy for decades,.. women died to get the right for future generations of women to vote, to get educated, to make rape in marriage illegal, to be allowed to work, have their own bank account etc….
These women should all get into the ring together and stand there side by side on live TV and refuse to fight against biological men who undoubtedly have a physical advantage! They need to refuse the leave the ring … hell maybe the male boxers could actually also protest …. For the future safety & integrity of women’s sports… which one day their own daughters might wish to compete…..
What will happen is sports will become men vs men and the female sports will be trans women vs trans women … biological women won’t see the point in putting themselves forward… or might not even qualify against bio men identifying as women!

vivainsomnia · 01/08/2024 14:26

We have proof they’re male, based on
a) the IBA statement that makes it clear their chromosomes are XY and
b) looking at them

And that shows your ignorance on the matter.

They weren’t tested on their hormones but their chromosomes. They are male.

Sadly one match has already happened this morning and the female opponent withdrew after 46 seconds after her nose was broken and she said she had never been hit like that before (her head guard was dislodged off her head by the punch).

I mean it’s almost like a government could manipulate this for their own purposes. Maybe we should give Tyson Fury a passport with F on and get him in the female category to ensure we get a boxing medal.

“gender criticals”

For those reading along, this is an example of the dehumanising language that some activists use.

“gender criticals”.. like some kind of other thing that is not human. The term originally was used for gender critical feminists who rejected gender stereotypes defining how a woman or girl should live their lives. However, a group of activists who disagree with the feminist position of prioritising the needs of people who are female (those born with a body formed around the production of large gametes) over those who have a gender identity, detached the feminist from gender critical feminists. This was a way of silencing feminists, from shaming them by misrepresenting their views as being those who are aligned with other groups who believe that sex cannot change.

Because sex cannot change. That is a scientifically proven fact. Just like the sky might appear blue sometimes.

So now “gender criticalsis a term that those gender identity prioritising activists use to vilify and demonise others. Because feminists are somehow now sex fascists.

A poster using the term 'transes' would be rightly deleted. Because that is dehumanising transgender people. So, you have to ask yourself, why a person who believes they have some kind of moral superiority seeks to dehumanise the people who they disagree with? Could it be that they are the ones who are so prejudiced and who have views that are so unable to be supported by evidence and science that that is all they have?

Royals will 100% not get involved in this.
They can’t risk being accused of being transphobic… the anti royalists will have a field day twisting her words!

I still find it shocking how little understanding some people have about the physiological differences between men and women. Not even just men and women - it's also pretty much any boy from puberty onwards.

It's wild isn't it! I'm 5'9 & no delicate weakling, 3 son's with 2 at 6'2 (23 & 15) & one at 5'11 (17).

Last year I was playfighting with 17yo (15 at the time) & he punched me on the arm, a pulled playfight punch & it fucking hurt & left me with a bruise. He was absolutely mortified. By that age all are/were stronger than me. Sure, when it came to sneaking a little slap on him or a poke in the ribs I'm wilier & quicker but out & out strength? I've not a chance.

Should really add that I've been assaulted by adult men, one was even smaller than me. There's just no comparison 🤷🏼‍♀️
