Lin Yu-ting and Imane Khelif: Boxers cleared for Paris Olympics - BBC Sport

They are both biological males. Its to IOC, International Olympic committee. There will be a protest and i know another female Irish boxer has pulled out but surely this cant stand. The women could be seriously injured.

Imane Khelif and Lin Yu-ting

Lin Yu-ting and Imane Khelif: Boxers cleared for Paris Olympics

Two athletes are cleared to compete at the women's boxing at the Paris Olympics, having been disqualified from last year's World Championships for failing to meet eligibility criteria.

\what are you on?? Thats a male footballer who plays for manchester united!

Still waiting for that evidence you claim that they “grew up believing themselves to be female”….

NonPlayerCharacter · 01/08/2024 13:51

Anyone who is OK with this has made it clear they're fine with men destroying women in every respect and they just needed an excuse.

Women with PCOS are women. I'm sorry such a simple thing seems to be so difficult for you to understand, it must make everyday life a struggle.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 01/08/2024 13:52

SammyScrounge · 01/08/2024 13:46

They have failed more than women.
They have failed sport by turning the Olympics into a farce because if the Olympics are not about fairness and a level playing field then they are nothing , they are a travesty.

I couldn't have put it better myself, but never mind - the IOC have doubtless enjoyed a circle jerk over how right on they are, and that appears to be all that matters to them

As a PP said, see also the opening ceremony for an indication of the general malaise that's overtaken it

In case anybody is snowed by the word-salad, I wish to remind you that PCOS stands for Polycystic Ovary Syndrome: ovaries, for the avoidance of doubt, are female sex organs. Consequently, a person with PCOS is a woman.

Furthermore, any elevated testosterone level in a woman with PCOS is nowhere near the testosterone range of male humans.

Furthermore, even if an adult male human did undergo treatment to reduce his testosterone levels to anything, this would not negate all the advantages of male puberty, and therefore would not be a "reason" to allow him to compete against female humans.

Guardian has a mealy mouthed commentary on this. Pathetic

Sean Ingle is pretty clear about it on his twitter

As far as I can see on them, they both still identify as males 99% of the time. Why is this even a consideration? They’re men, identifying as men, entering women’s sports?

Oh look, another thinly veiled transphobic post on Mumsnet.
How very original.

All masked as 'concern', of course.

What is phobic about wanting males and females segregated in sports, especially combat sports?

And why are you OK with a male person taking an opportunity from a female person and being ready to beat her up?

WhatALightbulbMoment · 01/08/2024 13:53

The best thing would be for all boxers to refuse to compete against Khelif. If the competition stopped dead because there was no one for Khelif to fight against, that world really get people talking. I understand it's impossible for that to happen, so unfortunately, other women will get hurt fighting against Khelif, and that will not make many headlines. After all, what's so interesting about a woman having her nose broken... ?

Is there a way of directly showing my support for Angela except by writing on X?

TheCosyNavyViper · 01/08/2024 13:53

Totallymessed · 01/08/2024 13:36

Have you ever had your nose broken by a man punching you in the face? Because bear in mind there will be posters on here who have. Being beaten up by men- which is what is happening here- is absolutely something to be afraid of.

I haven't, thanks god, and TBH I am also afraid of male violence.

Like most of us here, I suspect, I have lost count of the times i've been in fear of my safety around a bloke. I've been attacked enough times to always have that fear at the back of my mind.

But I would never get into a boxing ring.

The olympics is for elite boxers, who choose to get in the ring. They have spent their whole career getting into the ring with people who might wipe the floor with them. The ones who get to the olympics are the ones who wipe the floor with others, leaving a trail of broken noses behind them

ThreeWordHarpy · 01/08/2024 13:54

LordPercyPercy · 01/08/2024 13:36

For the avoidance of doubt, this is the boxer:

Erm, that’s Antony, a Brazilian footballer who plays for Man United.

TheCosyNavyViper · 01/08/2024 13:55

Fetlocksblowininthewind · 01/08/2024 13:43

Bone density, muscle structure, reach, heart, lung, and on and on.

I read here that men punch 2.6, or 163% (I think was the quoted percentage) times harder than women.

You are just wrong.

And how much harder does a middleweight punch than a featherweight, though? Is it less that 2.6x?

My mistake, they look so similar. Here's a correct image.

Not sure the image attachment works so will post the link of other images of the boxer.

FarmFlowers · 01/08/2024 13:55

TheCosyNavyViper · 01/08/2024 13:32

Sure, speed is probably a factor too, and reach, as PP have said.

I was using that as an example.

The point is that both these two are at the lighter end of the range, so I don't think we need to be scared.

I think you are a man.

Most woman who has ever been in fear of a man-and that's practically every woman in varying degrees- would say the shit you are saying is just that-shit.

*Most women have looked behind them at night or in a lonely place, if a man is walking behind them
*Most women take a look around if they find they are are alone on public transport, in case a man gets in
*Most women have been leered at or had sexual comments made towards them by men
*Most women have been worried when a man starts shouting
*Most women are concerned if a man bangs a wall, table or ornament in close proximity to them,
*Some women have felt a man's fist on them and it is terrifying.
*All women will have experienced at least one of these and I doubt the veracity of any woman who says she hasn't.

There are other examples but the one thing they all have in common is because men are stronger, more aggressive and can do damage to a woman.

That is why women are appalled to see the cocks at the Olympics sanction a man thumping a woman. That's why women understand and that's why women are disgusted.

That's why I think you are not a woman because if you were, you would have had some share in this this shared experience of being wary or frightened of a man-not because he might be the Brain of Britain and they're scared of his sharp words but simply because of his physical strength.

So stop posting this shit and go and lie down somewhere.

I imagine this will be deleted because even here, on a site for women, some women will be appalled at a defence of their own sex.

SSpratt · 01/08/2024 13:55

Imane Khelif is not trans. At birth their sex was recorded as female as they would have had what looked like external female genitalia. In actual fact they are biologically male (as confirmed by genetic testing). I actually feel sorry for them and others like Caster Semenya, although I am completely in favour of banning them from women’s competitions. They are not trans, it must be confusing and upsetting to learn you have this condition.

Still waiting for that evidence you claim that they “grew up believing themselves to be female”….

I've been told in the past here that it's up to you to find the information... and to find it all while on my phone is a headache. If I find time later I will, but it was a very quick google earlier "dsd olympic boxer female"

but, again, what have you done other than post on mumsnet to make sport fairer for women?

And why upset about me pointing that someone is randomly posting a manchester united footballer and claiming they are the boxer?! That is just ridiculous

DoIWantTo · 01/08/2024 13:56

No one is interested in your bollocks Tandora, both figuratively and literally. Go defend male violence on Reddit, where it’s welcomed.

TheCosyNavyViper · 01/08/2024 13:57

NotBadConsidering · 01/08/2024 13:49

But it’s not is it? An experienced woman boxer has just said she’s never been hit that hard in her life, by the man she just faced in the ring. That is evidence that, pound for pound, a man has greater punching power compared to women of the same weight. She’s telling you it matters, the difference was noticeable and you’re ignoring her and dismissing her. Why?

Every boxer has had the experience of never being hot that hard before in their life. It doesn't prove that either of these boxers hit harder than the hardest hitting woman.

LordPercyPercy · 01/08/2024 13:57

Erm, that’s Antony, a Brazilian footballer who plays for Man United.

Yes I already provided an updated picture.

You keep coming back to the thread having been unable to back up your claim. Googling just reveals the same speculation as to whether they’re DSD or not. You seen certain though. Why? What’s your proof?

blueberryforest · 01/08/2024 13:58

What a farce! I honestly can't believe how quickly this madness has escalated. I once believed that the world wouldn't allow it to get so far, but clearly I was mistaken. Now I know that if you phrase it the right way and get enough of the right people (and the media) to go along with it, there's probably nothing you can't excuse or normalise. Should've known that already, of course, but I'd hoped we'd learned more than that from the past. Apparently not!

Tandora, you & your ilk will no longer quash discussion. Stop trying to police discussion. You won't.
One of you has gone so low (even for you lot!) to try & derail & quash discussion by attempting to bring the Southport riots into this thread.

Females do not want males infiltrating their sports.
Females do not want males in their changing rooms, toilets, prisons, private spaces.

Why are the comfort levels, safety & security of females being ignored because of males feelings & what they want?

Angela Carini has just had her nose broken in front of the whole world. We all witnessed it, we need to do more.

Why do you think that term -are you referring to the ludicrously pathetic, on both a moral and intellectual basis, “flat- terfers” beautifully captures people standing up against this madness.

it’s a typically inaccurate soundbite with no substance behind it parroted by the captured.
