Lin Yu-ting and Imane Khelif: Boxers cleared for Paris Olympics - BBC Sport

They are both biological males. Its to IOC, International Olympic committee. There will be a protest and i know another female Irish boxer has pulled out but surely this cant stand. The women could be seriously injured.

Imane Khelif and Lin Yu-ting

Lin Yu-ting and Imane Khelif: Boxers cleared for Paris Olympics

Two athletes are cleared to compete at the women's boxing at the Paris Olympics, having been disqualified from last year's World Championships for failing to meet eligibility criteria.

I read threads like this and wonder what the actual fuck is wrong with some women. Women who are so keen to seem on trend that they happily support a woman being beaten up by a man. These women are traitors to womanhood, they are enablers of misogyny, enablers of VAWG and they try and shame others into agreeing with their deluded world.

I know. Absolutely disgraceful

OneOfThoseOldFashionedWomen · 01/08/2024 13:35

And for those that won't click on links.

This is the headline

Female boxer yells 'this is unjust' and falls to her knees in tears as she quits fight against 'biologically male' Olympic opponent Imane Khelif after just 46 SECONDS following two powerful punches

I am so angry

LordPercyPercy · 01/08/2024 13:36

For the avoidance of doubt, this is the boxer:

ThreeWordHarpy · 01/08/2024 13:36

The reason why these boxers have F in their passports doesn’t matter. Discussions about DSDs etc are side tracks. The IBA performed medical testing and determined that they were ineligible to fight in the female category and that they had an unfair advantage. www.iba.sport/news/statement-made-by-the-international-boxing-association-regarding-athletes-disqualifications-in-world-boxing-championships-2023/ . They are biological men. They’ve known this for a while now.

The fact these men still want to fight women is the epitome of male entitlement, and is as much proof of their maleness as their medical tests.

Angela Carini is a heroine, the IOC are morally bankrupt and the BBC have lost all remaining journalistic credibility.

WoolyMammoth55 · 01/08/2024 13:36

@TheCosyNavyViper and any other doubters: HERE IS THE SCIENCE.

"...even with roughly uniform levels of fitness, the males' average power during a punching motion was 162% greater than females', with the least-powerful man still stronger than the most powerful woman. Such a distinction between genders, Carrier says, develops with time and with purpose."

Also:
"In mammals in general," says U professor David Carrier of the School of Biological Sciences, "the difference between males and females is often greatest in the structures that are used as weapons."

THIS IS WHY any situation in which an adult with XY chromosomes is fighting an adult with XX chromosomes is never a fair fight.

It's not transphobic IN THE SLIGHTEST to not want to sanction men beating women for sport.

Why males pack a powerful punch

Elk have antlers. Rams have horns. In the animal kingdom, males develop specialized weapons for competition when winning a fight is critical. Humans do too, according to new research. Fighting may have long been a part of our evolutionary history.

I guess there are lots of reasons to separate by gender.

Same for many other sports, that aren't really dangerous at all.

And I guess there are lots of reasons why boxing is separated by weight.

But these two people in question are certainly not going to be the most dangerous fighters in the women's competition.

They are just not that strong, not compared to the middleweight women.

So it's not reasonable to be scared for their competitors.

Have you ever had your nose broken by a man punching you in the face? Because bear in mind there will be posters on here who have. Being beaten up by men- which is what is happening here- is absolutely something to be afraid of.

LordPercyPercy · 01/08/2024 13:36

This is an Algerian football team's response, they're totally fine with battering women apparently.

Because they're high on their own Righteous farts, perhaps.

I guess they'd say that Carini was silly (maybe hysterical?) to be scared. And should have simply tried harder. And anyway she was far more harmful, because of WrongThink and UnkindLanguage.

99victoria · 01/08/2024 13:37

Regarding the weight issue - I am 5ft 4 and I weigh about 10st 3lb. That gives me a BMI of 25 so I'm not especially overweight. I go to the gym so some of my weight is muscle. My exh was 6ft and also weighed 10st 3lb. He's very lean and a runner. He was much, much stronger than me, not to mention the height difference.

Using the 'but they're the same weight' defence is ridiculous

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 01/08/2024 13:38

Tell me this doesn't look like a still from a domestic abuse scene. Sickening.

Reading that article, it's not clear what the background of these people are. Were they born male/are boliologically male or is there something else that causes unusually high testosterone? I do think there's a distinction.

Yes!! I read the article and am
so so confused….. OP suggests both were born males but the article isn’t clear on that… if both were born male then the fight isn’t man vs female … a trans male shouldn’t be competing against biological females period!! If both these fighters are biological males then they should be competing in the male league… if both are biologically males then I can’t see the issue with them fighting each other?!….
The trans female swimmer was banned from competing against bio females so I can’t see this being as straight forward as OP’s post suggests…. ??
If it is as straight forward as both being trans females then actually both should be competing in the male only competition surely??

IsAnybodyListening · 01/08/2024 13:38

I feel so bloody awful for her. That was nothing but televised male on female violence. There was no sport.

LadyGrinningSoul8517 · 01/08/2024 13:13

Oh look, another thinly veiled transphobic post on Mumsnet.
How very original.

All masked as 'concern', of course.

I don't see any concerns, I see utter outrage at men being able to cheat and take medals away from women. Quite justified rage.

Women aren't going to stop highlighting how unfair this is because someone wimpers transphobia Breathing is bloody transphobia these days

LordPercyPercy · 01/08/2024 13:39

The weight thing is absolute bollox. I outweighed my ex by several stone, I was both overweight and muscley and he is naturally very lean and slim.
I am strong for a woman, and he was so much stronger than me we were like a different species on that front. Luckily I don't know this through violence. Other women are not as lucky.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 01/08/2024 13:40

MrTiddlesTheCat · 01/08/2024 13:31

The IOC have blocked it on 'copyright infringement' grounds.

That won't be easy with the video on countless sites all over the place

It's depressingly predictable that the IOC prefer the footage not to be shown, nor that they'd rather avoid the issue than address it, but I'd expect nothing different

LordPercyPercy · 01/08/2024 13:40

If you gave a stuff about trans rights you'd probably not want something like this peaking people globally en masse, yeah?

Underthinker · 01/08/2024 13:40

Absolutely disgusting that this has been allowed to happen. The Italian fighter should be declared the winner and the male disqualified.

CriticalCondition · 01/08/2024 13:40

A longer piece on R4 now. Boxing commentator tone is what's all the fuss about.

failed gender test but allowe to figt-why?

The opening ‘ceremony’ in Paris might give you a clue.

Oh yes.

Y0URSELF · 01/08/2024 13:42

You will all have seen by now that Angela Carini from Italy had to withdraw from the fight after 46 seconds after her male opponent broke her nose ☹️

Fetlocksblowininthewind · 01/08/2024 13:43

TheCosyNavyViper · 01/08/2024 13:08

Yes, exactly, as I said you might think they are stronger or faster than other people in the same weight category. But the strength advantage for example is relatively marginal compared to the higher weight categories.

So why is it reasonable to be scared for their opponents, but not the women in heavy categories?

Bone density, muscle structure, reach, heart, lung, and on and on.

I read here that men punch 2.6, or 163% (I think was the quoted percentage) times harder than women.

You are just wrong.

chappy2he · 01/08/2024 13:43

A lot of man bashing but there's almost no men that support this, it's not men, it's the organisers/committee being woke.
