Lin Yu-ting and Imane Khelif: Boxers cleared for Paris Olympics - BBC Sport

They are both biological males. Its to IOC, International Olympic committee. There will be a protest and i know another female Irish boxer has pulled out but surely this cant stand. The women could be seriously injured.

Lin Yu-ting and Imane Khelif: Boxers cleared for Paris Olympics

Two athletes are cleared to compete at the women's boxing at the Paris Olympics, having been disqualified from last year's World Championships for failing to meet eligibility criteria.

This is so sad…

Fucking dirty cheat. Poor Angela.

From Italian sports news reporting on this travesty (translated from Italian to English)

”The meeting was highly anticipated, especially due to the controversies surrounding it. It was discovered, in fact, that there was a male chromosome in the DNA of the male boxer.”

What makes me scared for women is the attitudes, sexism and misogyny all over this thread 😢😢

Have just been reading about a female volleyball player 17 who was left paralysed with brain damage by a transgender opponent. So a lifetime of consequences for her.

Oh god that's awful beyond words! WTAF? That poor woman!

I haven't heard about this, do you have a link you could share with us please?

There are rules, they can't just decide they're female and that's it, they're in.
They have to have been transitioning for a certain period of time and have a certain low level of testosterone (equivalent to that of a biological female) that has to have been tested numerous times before competition day.

I repeat it is not just any old bloke deciding they are female so they can win.

So a currently low level of testosterone undoes all the impact on body strength of going through male puberty? That's good to know!!

WhereYouLeftIt · 01/08/2024 12:14

Just dropping the front page of the online Telegraph, which is carrying the story - and the BBC, not on the news site but on the sports site.

Compare and contrast. SadAngry

@teacher45646 it's very simple, a woman is a biologically born female. You are welcome!

🤬

Oh god I made the mistake of going on twitter and replying to some cunt who thinks the bloke is legendary and "her" opponent is cowardly for giving up and falling to her knees. I can't help myself sometimes but this has fucking angered me and although I know it's probably better to not engage with twats on twitter I haven't got anything else to do right now so looks like I have involved myself in a spat 😂 fucking legendary pfttt I'm sick of this shit

Some men love seeing a woman smacked around.

Summerpigeon · 01/08/2024 12:14

I can't work out who's who

Limer · 01/08/2024 12:15

This is WRONG.

And there are two unknown women boxers not at the Olympics, because their places have been taken by these men.

Oh yeah, it completely reverses it! Didn't you know? (Heavy sarcasm)

Gosh, hiding away in there it was.....

I'm not sure I've ever been angrier about this. We have just seen a man break a woman's nose on live international tv, because a lot of stupid people were busily wanking on about sometimes men aren't really that mannish and should be allowed special exemptions to hurt women that other men aren't permitted. And they're still wanking on, trying to hide enough reality to justify it.

He broke her nose. A man just broke a woman's nose through being enabled by this shit.

How have 7% said YABU.

It has been proven time and time again in so many sports that the physicality of even much less able men in technical terms still will beat women. Its unacceptable in the majority of sport but in boxing is extremely dangerous. I lift weights and have trained for a while, my teenage son who is unfit and overweight can lift way more than me. Its just biology. Serena Williams has spoken about this in the past, you only have to watch the mens/womens Hundred matches an also there have been several occasions where international women's football teams have been absolutely smashed by boys academy teams.

I just don't see why it is ever ok. I understand that it is difficult for transgender athletes but I would say there are many people who are unable to compete at a high level of sport even though they would love to, that's just life unfortunately.

It's not difficult for transgender athletes. They can lobby & demand sections for transgender competitors or they can compete in their birth sex category.
It is difficult & in my opinion tragic for all the females who are suffering at the hands of males infiltrating their women only catagory. Prime example bring Angela Carini having her nose broken just under an hour ago 42 seconds into the most important match of her career...

Good question. In most other sports that require strength and speed (I don't know any that haven't) there are now female and male/open categories from grassroots upwards.

You can only compete as female if born as female sex.

This is the most dangerous sport not to have adopted this imo. What's their rationale for not?

The IBA changed their policy and that excluded these male athletes last year. However, the IOC changed their policy to stop sex testing in the late 90s to allow male people who were 'assigned female at birth' to compete as female.

Why? Because of purely emotional reasoning based on philosophical principles that guide inclusion.

The IBA did extensive testing according to their press release over night. The testing found that these two boxers had physical advantage. They cannot release any more details other than that.

The last two Olympic boxing competitions have been run by the IOC due to corruption uncovered in the past. Therefore the IOC regulations are the ones that are used. The IOC declared that all sporting federations should decide the policy for participation on a sport by sport basis. But then ignored the IBA regulations.

behold a man is here to mansplain to women about male violence at the moment a woman has had her nose broken and her chance of a medal taken in front of the world. read the room

and he basically told us that she was asking for it

Exactly-2 female boxers missed out on the chance of competing because men took their places

bombastix · 01/08/2024 12:16

This cheat should not be allowed any glory. I hope the crowd know it. Cry cheat for competition like this, unfair competition which is beating, not sport: the whole ring and the spectators should yell it.

TinkerTiger · 01/08/2024 12:08

All nice and well to call it ‘victim blaming’. But it’s not affecting anyone else but the women competing, so they are the ones who should take a stand. Be the change you want to see, etc.

Honestly sick of the narrative that women are poor maidens with no ability for critical thinking and choice.

Google the footage of Riley Gaines and see what women face if they dare to object to facing a male in the female category.
They don't just forfeit the match, they are dropped by their sponsors (which is how most sports people are able to fund their careers, boxing at the Olympics is strictly amateur so they can't earn prize money so need another source of income), they are hounded and threatened and doxxed.

This.

Choosing not to enable men to your own detriment comes with very heavy consequences for women.

TheKeatingFive · 01/08/2024 10:38

Because decisions were taken to let people change their 'legal sex' in official documents and thus legally, it is hard to make the case that men who say they are women have no place in women's sports.

Nail on head.

As soon as you accept that a male person can be a woman you're on the back foot if you try to explain why they shouldn't be treated as though they are a woman.

If someone is a woman there is no reason why they shouldn't be eligible to compete in women's sporting categories.

Ideology.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 01/08/2024 12:18

If you have any sense of sportsmanship then you know even if you 'win' you havent really won.

You answered your own question. They don't have any "sense of sportsmanship". They just want to win. They lie about their sex, so they're not working to the same standards as others.
