on holiday at the mo and I cant even count the number of times I have seen topless women sunbathing at the beach… next to kids!…on non-nudist beach!

I really don’t want to see titties out in the middle of the day

on top of that I don’t fancy my teenage boys or even my DH having a look at them either

its obvious they’re coming from certain European countries ! Do they have no sense of what’s right or wrong ?

I'd have guessed British or American, the two most likely candidates to go to other countries and then be outraged when the culture differs from their own and they do things differently.

The amount of times I've heard entitled Brits and Americans moan about locals going about their business in their own countries 'not speaking English' and so on. And everyone remembers the Brits living in Spain voting for Brexit, and then being outraged that it affected their overseas status as well.

You're in Cyprus. Rules and cultures are different. If you don't like it, stay home.

I can imagine that the women got a lot of stares. I'm happy to go topless abroad but not in the UK.

This. It’s an equality issue. Nowhere does being topless (l mow the lawn topless in my garden), compare with being fully naked!

Well my husband says women's privates are like an action figure i.e, you can't really see anything anyway! 😂

I'm only offended by fully naked men because I believe they're doing it for perverted reasons and I don't like them around women and children.

A few things:

• I lived in the South of France when I was a kid and it is very common for women to sunbathe topless there, no one cares. I personally would not do it but it should be completely their choice

• OP, you seem to equate breasts with something sexual/shameful when in fact their main purpose is to feed children! it is society that sexualises them...

• which is why you can't compare a woman not having a top on on the beach (after all we have no issues with men showing their nipples...) with a man showing his willy.

Next time just check what the local culture is when it comes to sunbathing before you travel and you won't have this issue.

Olympic swimmers and divers are near naked, I spent hours watching them yesterday and didn't get even a teeny tiny bit aroused. My line is drawn subconsciously, it's just in me to know what's being presented in a sexual way and what isn't. I don't need to stop and think about these things. I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in having this instinctive way of processing various presentations of nudity.

It was 24 degrees, too hot for my nipples to be hard. 😂

I go topless on UK beaches fairly regularly. And proud of it!

This is a very good way to put it. Breasts in the background - that's inspired me to start a band.

Lots of stares??? Not really. We were walking along the 3ft high wall between the sand dunes in Barmouth, and saw 4 women sunbathing topless, sort of against the wall... and up to 10 ft away from it. It was 85F (29C) so good and hot!!! People looked for about 10 seconds, because it's not massively common in the UK, but then people just shrugged their shoulders and carried on with their day. This was 3 years ago.

First saw women sunbathing topless maybe 7 years ago, in Aberystwyth. Saw it in Barmouth last week too, when we went. About 6 or 7 women topless. (Different places/scattered about.) It was hot then too! (25C - 77F.) Most people really don't care. Not enough to start a furious pearl clutching thread on Mumsnet anyway! 😆

I haven’t read the whole thread @TittiesOutPutThemBack. I used to go topless back in the day. No one would want to see them now😂. I actually thought going topless had fallen out of fashion. On my recent holiday to Croatia I didn’t see a single woman topless on the beaches we visited or poolside. The same in Tenerife recently. Maybe I am just not very observant. I would have thought frost bite was a risk going topless in this country. Right that’s enough mention of topless for one day!

Are you insecure about your own breasts? I had an issue with topless sunbathing when I was a teenager very insecure about my own.
Then I grew up.
Breasts are for feeding babies. We need to stop sexualising them.
I think it may actually be good for children and young people to see women topples in a non-sexual way. It could increase breast feeding rates and stop the weird obsession some people have with breasts.

You should get down to Studland, there's a nudist beach section of the beach, lots of people letting it all hang out !!!

TBF I've also sunbathed topless in the UK when younger and no one passed out or pointed.

There are a lot of beaches in the UK where many women go topless.

It feels nice to be topless in the sun, sort of free, and in the water.
