After seeing the new footage, I believe the officers actions were understandable.

It shows the 2 men threw many punches at 2/3 police officers. Including breaking a female officers nose. They deserved what happened but it is not what police officers should be doing. But he is human and had been punched several times. Thanks

OhHelloMiss · 28/07/2024 19:20

I read that both the male officer and one of the female officers both briefly lost consciousness

That's how brutal these 2 'men' were...

Thuggery on both sides...

What's a policewoman from Leicestershire who was attacked by a sixteen year old four years ago got to do with anything?

The police overreacted, they threw the first punches and were out of order from the beginning, the whole thing was completely unnecessary, Many good police are probably horrified by the unprofessional behaviour shown I suspect there was a racist agenda. The Asian brothers are from a police family. Unfortunately, the officers involved could not defend themselves after starting the fight. Note the charge is affray, I doubt there will be any prosecution of the two Asian brothers, the policeman who started it all is another matter.

Don’t feed it.

HeyTalkToMeGoose · 28/07/2024 20:31

Were you there, did you see what happened close up and the events that led up to the police being called in the first place. What police relations do those brothers have.

MNDavies · 28/07/2024 20:34

Watch the video carefully the first four punches are thrown by the police

MNDavies · 28/07/2024 20:35

The brothers have eight police officers in their extended family

Put your fishing rod away

MNDavies · 28/07/2024 20:48

What fishing rod?

I don't think so.

We will see when the investigation is done

As @whatdoidonowffs pointed out, save your fishing trip for another day, but I'll entertain you nevertheless. How do you know the police overreacted? None of us have seen the full CCTV - the one that includes the fracas in the Starbucks six minutes earlier. Which I expect will further make the "Asian brothers" settee compo stunt look even more ridiculous.

Then they should know better than to confront the man which started this chain of events

Wow! Really? I feel an alternative film to The sound of Music might be coming soon…

Vic6 · 28/07/2024 22:06

For the extended family ^^

shuggles · 28/07/2024 23:58

For far too long, "thug life" wannabe gangsters have been free to abuse, attack, and kill any figure of authority. This is something that is learned in school, and is never corrected because of poor standards of parenting.

If anyone attacks a police officer, they should fully expect and anticipate that those police officers are going to hit back. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Last point, for everyone saying the police officer acted excessively by kicking the man in the head; please bear in mind that if an armed police officer is being attacked and their life is in danger, they are justified in shooting their attacker dead. The attacker is very lucky that he was not shot dead.

HeyTalkToMeGoose · 29/07/2024 00:32

Those 2 thugs will be waiting for the knock on the door....I expect they will be arrested soon enough

Mama2many73 · 29/07/2024 00:42

We knew there'd be footage showing another side, which is awful.
BUT there was NO excuse for what the police officer did, at the time he did it. The man was face down on the floor with hands behind him, not being aggressive, not resisting arrest. I think its scary that loutish behaviour, often seen on police programmes from drunken nights out, was in his 'go to' behaviour at all.
And the brothers lawyer/solicitor needs to shut his mouth. He s not helping the situation or his clients!

sashh · 29/07/2024 05:24

Cloudysky81 · 28/07/2024 13:05

Police don’t know for certain that anyone is unarmed. However in the UK only a tiny percentage of the population has access to firearms, so the presumption must be made that people are unarmed unless there is evidence showing otherwise.

An armed officer who has just been punched in the head several times by two men may well think one of them has taken his gun.

It will be interesting to see the footage from the police cameras.

I’m happy for the police to use excessive force in this case to be honest, him and his colleagues could’ve easily been killed doing their jobs.

We need to get back to criminals being scared of the police, not feeling justified in attacking them. They are currently cheered on and buoyed up by a lot of the public because it’s become trendy and virtue signalling to vilify the police and sympathise with criminals.
