Oh I need to just write this down to calm down. I love on a fairly long street and it's a quiet area all people are lovely.

We have this one guy who lives on the road who is a pain I've had run ins with past. He drives up and down it at 60 miles per hour on a 20 mph road. (School on the road)

My kids I darent let them out on the front to play just incase he's bombing it down the street. He's always got police at his door or arguing.

Last night 3 am and then at 4.30am he's fighting in the front with his dad. I had no sleep because of this.

Then around 8pm tonight he's arguing driving recklessly way above the limit. My little girl got upset because the cars are so loud.

Any way he pulled back up got out of his car and I went over lost my shit. Said it was unbearablle.

He threatened to batter me and I had half the street watching.
My husband is mr nice guy and didn't get involved much. My next door neighbour was sticking up and saying she has young. Children and it's unbearable.

It was resolved in the end he said sorry but I feel so ashamed that I was so hot headed and got angry and all the street were watching,

Some of the ladies on the street said good on me for doing it.

But I just feel like a complete nutter now.

Why did I react like that 😔😔

All that built up frustration has come out at once. He sounds a bit self indulgent. He probably doesn't realising how much of a nuisance he is.

Justrolledmyeyesoutloud · 27/07/2024 23:16

I expect you are their hero op - well done for saying something xx

seethingmess · 27/07/2024 23:17

Well done for trying to do something about protecting the people on your street. I'd have a think about your DH not having your back though. That's not what you need in life.

Persiancouscous · 27/07/2024 23:18

Buttercupsandpoppys · 27/07/2024 23:11

An aggressive drunk man threatened to batter you and your DP did... Nothing?!

That's unforgivable for me and I wouldn't be able to look at him the same again. It would probably signify the end to be honest.

The last thing I'd be worried about would be looking like an idiot to neighbours and more about the coward I had sleeping in my bed.

He threatened to batter you! Your DP did nothing! It's not being a 'nice guy' it's actually being a selfish coward to the point he'd rather his wife potentially get assaulted than him put himself at potential risk of harm. Hiding behind the guise of being nice.

You can do better!!

Would you say the same if DH confronted a woman and then when he was threatened to get battered, you would expect the wife to jump in? Very odd.

BlackShuck3 · 27/07/2024 23:19

Good on you OP!
He said sorry, you got him to accept that he is in the wrong. You faced up to this horrible aggressive person & he backed down.
You won.

AzureAnt · 27/07/2024 23:19

Well.done. Shame the men of the street, including your DH, ,didn't rally round and threaten to paste him. I would reporting his behaviour to the police. He WILL kill someone (preferably himself) if he carries on

Colinthecaterpillarstrikesagain · 27/07/2024 23:19

You behaved like a responsible adult asking a fast driver to slow down and quieten down.

I would think the neighbours are very happy to have you as their neighbour and hopefully it will give them confidence to speak up and/or report him the next time and every other time he drives dangerously on your road.

Sheelanogig · 27/07/2024 23:19

I think if you are the type of person who rarely loses their shit with people (especially people you don't know that well), it kind of shocks you.

You lost your shit at someone who deserved it.

Just act friendly but not overboard when you next see him. You hold your head up high. He's an arse, you aren't.

I bet your neighbours were secretly cheering you on.

DrinkUpBabyDown · 27/07/2024 23:19

You didn't mention clapping but I assume the whole neighbourhood clapped.

BlackShuck3 · 27/07/2024 23:22

I DO understand why he is getting some flack on here @passwordrequired BUT I think your husband probably took the best course of action.
He knew this guy wouldn't do anything with so many people watching and that if he waded in it would only inflame the situation.

shuggles · 27/07/2024 23:23

@passwordrequired Get a CCTV camera and keep a record of all this nonsense.

All chavs are loud and obnoxious, until they land behind bars.

katebushh · 27/07/2024 23:23

Definitely don't feel bad, I think you did a fabulous thing. I'll bet people are praising you loads in their front rooms this evening!

I would be.

Also I hope your husband is supporting you, he should be proud.

Or he could just be a spineless coward who wants everyone, including a drunk joyrider, to like him?

AInightingale · 27/07/2024 23:27

Have you ever spoken to the police about this? He's breaking the law every time he drives down the street, and drink driving too? I don't know about the legality of filming him doing it, but would this be possible?

Notinmylifethyme · 27/07/2024 23:27

Good for you!! You're not a doormat!

Now you know you can do it again next time👍

Relaxandunwind · 27/07/2024 23:28

Good for you OP. I would have gone a step further and kicked his balls and plead insanity (caused by him)

Wimen can't beat men to death, or throw a killer one punch.
OP why aren't phoning the police when he is arguing in the street? The odd visit might shut them up a bit.

BeardofHagrid · 27/07/2024 23:30

Sometimes something just needs to be said, and in the only way people like that can understand, I.e. a bit rude. I think what you did was very brave and I expect everyone else did too. Good on you.

Fargo79 · 27/07/2024 23:30

You did not make a fool of yourself. The people who should be feeling embarrassed are your cowardly husband and all your cowardly neighbours (except the one who backed you up). Absolutely disgusting that they all stood around and let him threaten you like that.

You need to call the police every single time he is fighting, causing a disturbance or racing on the street (999 when he's driving at 60mph because that's an immediate danger to people's lives). Every single time. And take recordings. Make noise complaints to the council and keep a diary of the disturbances. Encourage other neighbors to do the same.

CoolPlayer · 27/07/2024 23:31

The fact you even worrying about this shows you are a good person! And things/worries always feel worse at night ! :)

weirdoboelady · 27/07/2024 23:31

With any luck he's currently posting on cuntsnet telling people how embarrassed he is to have made such a scene in public.

Relaxandunwind · 27/07/2024 23:31

Your dh should have supported you when this thug threatened to batter you. Not so Mr Nice Guy!
Is he one of those who like to look good in front of others at the expense of his family ?

Yes!! Whether male or female, if someone threatens to physically attack your spouse and they are aggressive and drunk then 100% you back your spouse up.

That doesn't mean you become aggressive back. It means you stand up for them e.g tell them if they don't stop you will be ringing police. Ensuring your spouse is at a physically safe distance etc.

No way would I let my spouse be verbally abused, screamed at and told they were gonna get battered and just quietly watch.

passwordrequired · 27/07/2024 23:33

Police are always dealing with him it's pointless he gets away with it all. Pure scum bag if I'd of rang the police they wouldn't have come out.

Thank you all for your kind words xxx
