Anyone watching the public disorder in Leeds? Bloody disgusting behaviour. Animals. AIBU to wish police had so many more resources to bring consequences to these absolute excuses for humanity?

Do they just want to make their environment much worse than it already is? Because surely that's the only consequence of rioting.

I agree and I always think that about actual war. All they are doing during wars is basically fighting over rubble and in Leeds, participating in destruction . I don't really understand it but these are very disenfranchised people. They often come from homes where respect is nil, they then don't respect themselves and as a result they don't respect other people, property and authority either.

Yeah, best get Thunberg on the case. Or maybe Attenborough. He could go there with one of his polar bears.

At least they care.

What are you doing to make a difference, other than making stupid unfunny comments?

How can you tell from photos if someone is not English?

OhHelloMiss · 18/07/2024 22:46

I mentioned football as a general thing

People will join in, jump on the bandwagon.....a lot of anger around right now

Anyway, it's all being live streamed in tik tok

That would require some critical thinking.

LordPercyPercy · 18/07/2024 22:48

Intersting to see plentiful images of Green Party councillor Mothin Ali joining in the fun.

The other thread was bonkers. OP was claiming it's connected to the asassination attempt and the suitcase murders and all caused by the new government realising contaminants to make people do things they wouldn't usually do.

I see white and black people. Are you saying black people can not be British? That black people can not be born in Britain?

'A riot is the language of the unheard' - Martin Luther King.

SomethingHasTo · 18/07/2024 22:50

Thanks @bluejelly, I haven't come across that quote before.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 18/07/2024 22:50

They are lucky lesbian nana isn’t on shift tonight, or they would be in the shit.

Sorry if facing up to reality offends you.
My opinion and judging from comments made in the newspapers, I'm not alone.

justasking111 · 18/07/2024 22:51

Spoke to son and partner tonight she works in Leeds, they both went to university there. Since covid lockdowns lifted and life went back to normal things have been simmering in Leeds. Harehill is one area, there are others.

Female students are being sexually assaulted in areas they could once walk in safety.

There's growing gang problems, some have more money than others. It's ugly.

Yes, I'm shocked at the responses form some here deriding the idea that this is caused by poverty, neglect, dissatisfaction.

This is exactly why looking after the most vulnerable is a mark of civilisation.

SunshinDay · 18/07/2024 22:52

Well apparently sw have gone into a home to remove vulnerable dc? I

Which areas are they?

PoliteCritic · 18/07/2024 22:53

When people are treated like shit, they complain. If you are middle class you contact your MP and lawyer. If you are poor, low educated, and no one listens to you, you riot. Usually when the weather is warmer.

Towelmode · 18/07/2024 22:54

Is it treating people like shit to remove vulnerable dc?

Edited

Agreed.

I worked in the area and nearby for years and have friends who live there.

Just because others share your same opinion, and it’s written in black and white in a newspaper, doesn’t make it fact or not racist.

It is not about that. That incident was simply a trigger.
I am not condoning the violence and I really feel for decent people living in the houses where this is happening. But I also think this kind of thing is inevitable.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 18/07/2024 22:57

Rioting isn’t perhaps the best way to demonstrate that your kids are being brought up in a safe and secure environment.

Oh come on, that might have been the trigger, but you don't honestly think that's what this about?
