Anyone watching the public disorder in Leeds? Bloody disgusting behaviour. Animals. AIBU to wish police had so many more resources to bring consequences to these absolute excuses for humanity?

Where is everyone seeing these reports? Sky news and BBC are only reporting on the damaged police car. I hope nobody is hurt

TikTok and X

Do they just want to make their environment much worse than it already is? Because surely that's the only consequence of rioting.

There is very clear footage online of a bloke stood holding a lighter to the seat on the bus. Also a man with a lighter on the engine.

People who do stupid shit like this, what do they want? What is their end game?

How shit for the people in the area who rely on public transport. How sad for the kids in the area to see this outside their windows, terrified to sleep.

Overspill of anger from losing the Euro game

Seems misplaced if it allegedly over kids safety

This is the thing though isn’t it. There is no thought. No result. No focus. All they are doing is making it all shittier than it was.

frankincenseandoranges · 18/07/2024 22:32

Horrible. I feel so sad and scared seeing how easily people behave violently, including children! And all the young men mindlessly following the violence holding their phones up to film everything. Braindead.

Poverty, dissatisfaction, drugs, no hope.

TBH, I think it’s got a lot more to do with it being the summer.

A good cloudburst would send them all home.

Overspill of anger from losing the Euro game

I very much doubt that

Some very high quality videos of 2x people attempting to set fire to a bus: (seems somebody was successful eventually)

LOL you sweet summer child. These people are so disenfranchised that they're setting fire to their street. I mean, you can tell them "this is just going to make things worse for you" but that's not going to work, realistically, is it?

But it's not their street is it? I don't believe it's purely residents only. There will be lots of people travelling there just to fuck shit up!

Doubt it.

DickEmery · 18/07/2024 22:40

Their street and around. Nobody is travelling there from Headingly with matches and flares.

Crowsruletheworld · 18/07/2024 22:41

Won’t the pollution from the burning bus and bins be toxic? Fumes etc?
Very sad.

SunshinDay · 18/07/2024 22:42

That smoke will be causing huge lung damage. Poor kids on a hot night even with windows shut and that smoke.

DickEmery · 18/07/2024 22:43

Yeah, best get Thunberg on the case. Or maybe Attenborough. He could go there with one of his polar bears.

SunshinDay · 18/07/2024 22:43

According to x children were removed from a family.

DaisyDoo09 · 18/07/2024 22:43

Do you think it will happen in other cities

I used to drive through Harehills on my way to and from work - it was eye opening in so many ways.

2ndMrsdeWinter · 18/07/2024 22:44

I’m not sure the people taking part in this have an ‘end goal’. They are unqualified, poor and jaded. Harehills is one of the most deprived parts of Leeds, and probably this whole country. There have likely been escalated tensions, and they had nothing to lose by engaging in criminal behaviour.

Oh well I guess that makes it ok then.

But what have they to gain?

No, it means you have to have robust strategies to tackle all these things if you don't want your cities on fire.

3luckystars · 18/07/2024 22:45

Same is going on in Dublin right now. Unrest.
Something just sparks it off and the riot breaks out. People are mad and then just use it as a way to take out their aggression and don’t even know what the riot is about I’d say.
