Anyone watching the public disorder in Leeds? Bloody disgusting behaviour. Animals. AIBU to wish police had so many more resources to bring consequences to these absolute excuses for humanity?

Half the native born ‘English’ ain’t net contributors that’s the issue 😂

And saying we can only let in the skilled, are you aware how abysmal the graduate job market is. We have a shortage of skilled IT specialists, we have a job market oversaturated with CS graduates who can’t get jobs because employers can’t be bothered to train them - I don’t think the answer is allowing thousands of Indian or East European IT specialists in….
Likewise we have NHS trusts employing literally thousands of international nurses from places like Nigeria on 5 year contracts whilst our own NQN are struggling to find jobs. And yet we can’t find fruit pickers, carers, serving staff. On the other hand when your child applies for a NMW job in a supermarket and there are 100s of applicants nothing seems to make sense. Essentially I don’t think the answers are that simple.

Do you mean those recently born and too young to work? The majority of the population are employed and contrary to popular belief, the biggest benefits claimants are pensioners.

Many people are working for shit salaries because a huge wedge of our tax bill is being spent on housing, feeding and caring for people who weren't born here, have never contributed to our economy and don't have the skills including basic English to do so. Many (but not all) of them are from countries where the culture differs so wildly that they aren't used to seeing women with legal rights . It isn't surprising that they are going to act differently and frequently to the harm of native born British people, including women who are going to work to pay taxes to help them. It's absolutely a complete fucking joke.

twoblackdogs · 23/07/2024 09:49

Right, so basically it went like this.
A father and a mother left their children at home alone, and one 7 month old child was dropped by another child (out of the window for crying or just dropped - there are several versions) and had a skull fracture. The children were not safe in that environment, the situation obviously called for involvement of SW, which they did. The family was not ok with that and wanted their children back, and this somehow turned into burning a bus and hitting police cars and whatnot.

The children were clearly endangered, SW did their job - who was at fault here? And how burning of a bus solves anything in this situation?

That’s an interesting point about (alleged) shortages of specialists on one hand and people with those shortage skills finding it hard to find employment on the other. I’ve heard similar from a friend in Germany.
I’ve also heard about restaurants and coffee shops here in the UK having to close because they couldn’t find staff after Brexit.
Where I live, most of those places are staffed by college and uni students, and according to friends’ kids who are currently looking for NMW jobs in cafes and supermarkets they’re not easy to get, not at all.

Immigration is a total mess and very, very worrying what we are seeing every day....those arriving by the boats especially.

It is 99% men too, coming from Somalia, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan...countries that are vastly different in values to here especially regarding women.

We certainly don't need this it is madness.

They throw away their papers, get given lodgings, spending money, phones and don't need to work.

UK and Germany are the 2 countries that are the biggest draw as we treat them so well...if they went to France for example they would get a tent in a field.

Europe is getting tough Poland won't allow them in and Italy and the Netherlands have already moved to the right re government...Ireland ain't happy they are rioting..it is madness and needs to be stopped.

Politicians won’t deal with it. Atm it’s just ignoring an increasing issue

Well bar Aus who have put policies in place,

marshmallowmix · 23/07/2024 10:41

This Morning TV show have just been talking about violence against women it is now at crisis point...yet we keep allowing people in that we know zero about and from countries that are not like minded like ourselves particularly in regard to women/child saftey...

Lot of boat arrivals also from Syria meant to add that to the list of countries...

The majority of the population do work but they don’t pay enough into the pot and central government funding has been stripped to the bone simultaneously. It costs £6k a night to stay in ICU for example. No way most people’s contributions over the years could cover that. Child benefit is £100s a month plus stat sick pay. People are paying nowhere near enough in taxes to fund that. Immigration of unskilled illiterate people who aren’t working doesn’t help that but legislation has pretty much stopped that from happening unless of course they’re working in the black economy.

marshmallowmix · 23/07/2024 10:54

Like we saw in Harehills family not liking SS coming in so they cause chaos! 😡

Well nope it doesn't work that way here....children were deemed at risk so SS had to act...no ifs or buts...

What legislation? They are increasing in numbers by the day. And it isn't just paying for their basic everyday needs but the unnatural increase in population putting even more strain on public services.
People who aren't 'net contributors' still contribute to society, though. Women co tribute to society by having children. They gake maternity leave which makes them not net contributors at that time. Carers are paid peanuts and contribute little tax but contributors use enormously to the functioning of society. It isn't all about money.
Hundreds of thousands of semi-literate men coming over with few skills between them and many from countries which treat women like livestock contribute crime and contribute dangers to women. It's not on.

What legislation are you thinking of?

JudgeJ · 23/07/2024 11:25

What reason did Community leaders give for the riot?

Answer: Systematic Racism

Shouldn't that be 'synthetic' , an excuse used for years to try and justify the unjustifiable by many communities.

All countries will need to tighten up borders and legislate to take things out the hands of human rights courts and lawyers. Only then will half the 3rd world stop turning up to western borders via non-legal routes.

The idea we have to leave the ECHR just to be able to police our own border is a joke.

Agree wholeheartedly. These constant appeals over deportation and trying to change laws the majority of the UK want must stop. Look at good old Cherie Blair (Booth) who has made herself a career out of fighting the courts for illegal migrants etc. Wonder how many of these same migrants are staying in any of their massive property portfolio. Two faced just like her husband.

LordPercyPercy · 23/07/2024 15:26

I'm just going to say it. If there's a rapid increase of migrants from certain parts of the world sexual assaults go up. Look at Sweden as a clear example. Or the mass sexual assaults in Cologne on NYE 2015.
And men in groups, away from their usual family and social structures, and with certain notions about Western women, are going to be even more disinhibited.
Add to that being in a country whose punishments will seem extremely weak and woolly. Perfect storm really.

I think this may be a major difference for Aus. No external court system like ECHR

People are not vilified for discussion on borders and it’s bipartisan. No one will touch it

kerstina · 23/07/2024 17:15

My eyes were opened on that series The Met most of the crimes were committed by foreign nationals and often the victim of crime too.

Labour have announced they are dropping the use of the Bibby Stockholm ship and the army barracks to house illegals.

They are saying all communities have to take a share and house them and social housing will be used …Madness !

No own agreed to any of this 😦I fear for the future generations…

LordPercyPercy · 23/07/2024 17:23

Really? Madness I agree

I guess it’s what people wanted when they voted for them. Use social housing and keep upping crossings

I still can’t get why you’d want as many to cross as you can encourage

marshmallowmix · 23/07/2024 18:00

On a plus note the news is saying police have made 20 arrests in Leeds re the riots, hope they get prison or deported if not here legally!

Wordsfailmeeverytime · 23/07/2024 18:04

@EasternStandard back in the day there was legislation that ensured migrants couldn’t claim unless they’d worked and they could be sent back to their home countries if unemployed for x number of months. Look it up. Unless of course the tories got rid of it when we left the EU.

Some very big generalisations going on there. Aren’t there measures preventing semi literate migrants from coming here, They have to earn over £35k or something don’t they ? And the folk on boats aren’t coming in their hundreds of thousands. There’s definitely some manipulation of facts going on there.

Some women equally are lousy mothers and the offspring they produce can be lousy citizens and a net drain on resources. Aren’t huge swaths of the population on benefits in any case ? We’ve got our own net drains on the economy (pensioners, some of them women who settled on being stay at home mums back in the day and never did a stroke of work). Many pensioners didn’t earn enough at all to make up for the resources they use. Ah but now it’s not about money now lol.

That's all right then. Definitely nothing to see in Leeds, they're all well educated high earners and we're all mistaken.

Starmer the human rights lawyer never had that in the manifesto
