Name changed because it’s kinda recognizable.

Went to a gig and the singer made eye contact with me!!! I waved. And he waved back!

im 43. My friends are thinking I’m mad, but I’ve told my friends not to worry

My husband (we’ll call him Paul) is in pieces about it

Enjoy yourself, who cares what others think. It's a little thrill that we got way more. Often as teens, I love that you still have that in you to get excited about something. That is a good thing! Young at heart!!! I'd be the same 😂

Eyelinerwonky · 16/07/2024 22:52

I love this. I love it made you happy OP. You enjoy it!

Ghostgirl77 · 16/07/2024 22:53

Your husband is in pieces because another man waved at you?!

Bit weird, mate.

”In pieces” can mean upset, or it can mean he finds it hilarious. I think the OP means the second one.

coxesorangepippin · 16/07/2024 22:57

Brilliant 😍

Noseybookworm · 16/07/2024 23:18

Why is your partner in pieces because someone waved at you?

Dunno.. maybe he just finds it a bit graceless?

he had been at the bar, drinking all the wine, and when he returned this happened

Who was the singer OP? Can't make my mind up until I know

Tarkan · 17/07/2024 04:12

I'm the same age as you and had a fan girl moment this week too as I met Travis after a gig of theirs. I got selfies with them all and Fran signed my arm (well both of them as he wasn't happy with the first one as the pen didn't work very well). Honestly felt like I was 18 again. Grin

A singer waved at you and your husband is ‘in pieces’ because he finds it ‘graceless’?

Have you also been drinking ‘all the wine’, because it kind of sounds like that.

Why did you need to add ‘let’s call him Paul’ about your husband? You don’t need to call him anything. You can just say ‘my husband’.

TheMithrasDirective · 17/07/2024 10:45

I came over all giggly and silly when I briefly met Matt Smith once. Very out of character for me. I don't even like him that much, or I didn't think I did, anyway!

DH took a photo that is now infamous in our family of me gazing adoringly up at Matt with a dopey grin on my face 🫣

JustSaltPlease · 17/07/2024 10:48

Why do the people of Mumsnet take everything so literally. The post is obviously light hearted and it's obvious her husband isn't really in pieces about it.

Are a lot of MN'ers ND I wonder quite often. No offence intended.

This response is a classic example of what I mean.

Is it? Maybe Paul is a sobbing and shaking mess over this, you don't know any more than the rest of us.

Worldgonecrazy · 17/07/2024 10:56

My husband is always taking the piss out of me for being ‘fan girl’, for some of my favourite artists. Of course it’s flattering if they flirt with you, or sing songs to you! As my husband is now far sexier than any of my teen crushes it’s very light hearted. (Yes, my husband is now sexier than all of Duran Duran!)

I will get my own back next year when we are seeing one of my favourite female artists, because I know she will probably flirt a bit with him and he will go all ‘fan boy’.

Unless she's playing down the local pub and there are six people in the audience how do you know she'll even notice your husband?

The same thing happened to me when I met Matt Smith!DS is a massive Whovian so we'd gone to some event or other. The man is some kind if svengali because he is not particularly attractive...yet he is! DS was a bit 🙄

Who was the singer? A Bay City Roller? Chesney Hawkes? Simon from Blue?

seagullible · 17/07/2024 11:12

Was it Bruce Springsteen?

VickyEadieofThigh · 17/07/2024 11:14

My partner (we're both women) and I once ran for a lift in a hotel and found ourselves alone with the actor Robert Powell (this was 25 years ago and he was still gorgeous).

We both giggled like 14 year olds as he stood smiling at us.

There are a number of reasons I am very confident it will happen 😎

zaxxon · 17/07/2024 11:30

I've felt bitter about this exact situation ever since I went to see Julian Cope at a small venue in my early 20s, and he leaned down and kissed the girl right next to me 😡
