Guess what he thinks is wrong with me....

So met a guy online. Date 1 - very average but thought I'd give him time to come into himself. Date 2 boy did he come into himself.....

I'll tell you about me. Early 40s, reasonably fit but no gym bunny (size 10 - 5'1). Successful career wise, live in the centre of a popular historic city in a beautiful converted flat. No kids, 2 cats. Average undergraduate degree. Divorced 6 years.

Let's guess what this Prince amongst men (hes not. Really really not) thinks is the problem with me when incredibly drunk on date 2.

OP, I'm wagging my finger at you for giving this guy a 2nd date. It's bad enough you ditched lovely cat for first date, but when date was mediocre no 2nd date was deserved. ☺️

Ladies, let's stop doing this!!!! If date is going meh then pay your share and leave! It reeks of low self-esteem to stay or go out again as it tells the loser guy you're desperate🤔

Schrodinger's woman

Oh now I get it: you're way too clever/witty for him so he has to neg you.

A TORTIE! Oh, what a lovely girl she is. I miss mine so much. She left me in February of this year, leaving me temporarily catless. Shall be rectifying that in August. Give her a skritch for me!

CAT LADIES OF THE WORLD UNITE! Oh, and cat men, as well. I know a few of those.

Icebreaker911 · 13/07/2024 23:53

Not yet @Catsmere, although I do have the shelter picked, an application submitted and approved. Our schools start here in the US, in our state, on August 14. As I am disabled and do not drive, a friend with school-aged children will be taking me to meet the candidates after school is in session, so that we won't be rushed. I'm looking for an older cat, being 71 years old myself.

Your girl is lovely. I find the dilute torties to be enchanting!

Thank you! I've had two dilute torties, completely different characters with one thing in common - trilling! 😄

My girl was a triller, as well, as was my beautiful Berry, the long-haired dilute calico I had some 20 years ago.

Don't you love it when they sing their trilly little songs? I used to call Freya Trilly Frilly.

OP you sound lovely with an great life. Sounds like he was projecting some past trauma on to you. He sounds mental 😂

Nah, not trauma, just bog-standard misogyny, the sort of shit losers who are incels/MRAs/PUAs trot out.

I need to wake up. Up to this point I thought it was reading about your next date...

noosmummy12 · 14/07/2024 10:04

Well who lives in a bloody flat then if not adults?? Random lone children? The odd kestrel? How do they pay rent?? Are they all on UC?? Labour need to pull their finger out

Many apologies, I tried to add a photo of Squeak earlier but it doesn't seem to be there! I once again present Squeak saving me from bed time snacking

AppleSour · 14/07/2024 10:50

This is hilarious 😂 he was definitely trying to neg you.
I once had a man laugh at me and call me a liar because I lived in a village! 🤣
"No one lives in a village, seriously do you live in emmerdale?"

I was gobsmacked like does he think villages are just a tv thing ?

ThePearlSloth · 14/07/2024 11:11

I went on a date with someone and I told him I was a cat lady who had temporarily been without a cat. His reply was that this was the only thing sadder than being a cat lady. I guess he was joking but I wasn’t impressed. He wanted to see me again. I wanted my cats. I don’t know what to tell you 😆

EDIT: I think someone a bit more suave and handsome could have pulled off the comment…

Well clearly there's one somewhere that's missing its idiot...

Too loud, or not polite enough?
Didn't ask enough questions?
Not dressing up enough?

T1Dmama · 14/07/2024 12:13

So the first date was a bit rubbish but you graced him with a second anyway…
He thinks you’re two short but agreed to a
sexond date anyway…
Turns up half cut .. either that or is a light weight who gets loose with his mouth after just a couple… He thinks only old sprinters own cats and flats were built for…. Children?!?! Thinks any woman who stays single after a divorce is somehow weird and yet presumably he’s single himself?!… no guessing why that is!!!
God where do these oddities from from?? Mumsnet certainly paints men in a poor light… makes me grateful to be blissfully single and not looking!!
