Who is Larry the cat’s family?

Just seen mention of Larry the cat making an appearance for the first cabinet meeting. But… does someone live and sleep there continuously with him? Does he have a family? Is he a lone ranger, does he live independently? What’s the deal?

Plus the front door at No10 is probably the original one from the 1700s, it would not be allowed, Larry has many ways and means to come in I'm sure!

It's not the original one - it was switched out for a metal one for security reasons.

Around 2000-2004 the door to number 10 was changed. An ex of mine was working in a factory in or around Southampton/Winchester where it was made.

Think Larry would have won the election if he’d put himself forward
Here’s the stats

Oh ok but a catflap would still look awful in a beautiful door like that, it's so glossy it's like a mirror

LakeTiticaca · 06/07/2024 17:25

Cats don't have owners, they have staff.
The staff of number 10 are Larry's staff

Whoever adopted a male cat thinking it would be a good mouser should not be in charge of the country.

What they needed was a little brown/agouti female tabby.

There wouldn't be a mouse in the House within a couple of months. And she'd be the chair of COBRA.

ladymalfoy45 · 06/07/2024 17:35

@Willmafrockfit Larry in the next Thursday Murder Club book.

It could be custom made to look like a mini no. 10 door.

I wonder how old he is. Will he have a state funeral one day?

He's 17! A pensioner in cat years.

I'll be writing to my MP asap.

i still thought you were talking about the Cat for a minute

LlynTegid · 06/07/2024 18:05

I think it is time to consider Larry the cat's successor. You could have a poll and each person have to make a charitable donation to the cats home where the choice is made from. It would raise a lot of money no doubt.

Here’s Larrys message to Starmer.🤣

🤣🤣

Apparently they've already fallen out over football.

It was David Cameron.
He was the one who came out with the idea of Brexit referendum as well.

Ellmau · 06/07/2024 18:23

TBF, wasn't Larry recommended by Battersea? And he certainly had a good go at that pigeon in the street.

pizzaHeart · 06/07/2024 18:24

greenpolarbear · 06/07/2024 14:58

He needs to lose weight, he's looking extremely tubby at the moment.

Apparently he and Boris's dog didn't get on well.

Well, and look who’s left and who’s stayed.

I know everyone here might be cat people but I feel the need to direct you over to brod and misneach (sadly I think now it’s only brod) over on twitter/ x - in Ireland and is our president’s dog’s account

His dogs are absolutely stunning. I love the way they bumble around with him. Agree one may have died. We met him in Dublin and my son was wearing his Ireland rugby top, my son uses a wheelchair sometimes and he came over and spoke to my son, sadly no dogs though he was a wee gentleman.

Hes the best president for today’s society- when he goes they’re going to find it so hard to replace him, he’s sensible, level headed, progressive, fluent in Irish, full of Irish culture (he’s a poet). Seems lovely too, great that your son met him:)

friskybivalves · 06/07/2024 19:39

The custodians look after Larry, who is quite curmudgeonly tbh. Not a huge fan of being stroked. The Cabinet Office also has Evie and her son Ossie who boss the place too.

Dandymax1 · 07/07/2024 17:51

I wondered this too. I guess he's just number10's cat. However I'm now thinking what if a Prime Minister or family were highly allergic 🤔 ( I do think of the bigger issues in life)

Elsvieta · 07/07/2024 18:33

There's always someone at number 10 - the famous door has no lock as there's always at least one police officer inside it. Larry will always get prompt service whenever he wants to go in or out or whatever else (obviously, cats expect no less). I don't think many of them are too picky about which humans are on their staff as long as expected standards of feline comfort are maintained.

Nextdoor55 · 07/07/2024 18:44

He's looking very good for 17.

80smonster · 07/07/2024 19:34

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 06/07/2024 13:44

They said on the news yesterday that he is 16.

Larry is a national treasure, flags should be lowered when he passes.
