So this is the first time Ive seen anything written about Kier Starmer and I like the man described.

Am I being unreasonable?

I suspect he will be dreadful, like all the others for many years now. He's already proven himself a coward and he really doesn't like women at all - it's obvious every time he's been asked a question about them, you can see it in his body language. Today's wittering doesn't reassure me at all, it's just to appease those pesky women at the 11th hour.

However, I'd be very happy to be proved wrong over the next few years.

JaneV1984Madness · 02/07/2024 13:17

It happened the world over and if you had any interest in this subject you would know and understand that.

Thelnebriati · 02/07/2024 13:18

Women's rights are not a minor issue overall. Disabled women who want female carers for intimate care.
Women in prison, forced to share prison cells and showers with intact men.
Women in domestic abuse shelters, homeless hostels or trying to access single sex rape crisis counselling.

None of these vulnerable women are on your radar. Ask yourself why any political party should hold our rights to ransom? If your partner was telling you that ''you can have some more housekeeping but in return you'll have to give up seeing your friends'', you'd recognise it for what it is.

JaneV1984Madness · 02/07/2024 13:19

@Aladdinzane.. No one reads my posts anymore except.... You?

What a dogmatic approach you have to posters raising this issue.

The jack boot already setting in.

Aladdinzane · 02/07/2024 13:19

KoiKoiKoi · 02/07/2024 13:17

He's also delusional, no better than Biden. Humans can't change sex.

You're so delusional that you think anyone cares what you think.

Look at the polls, see how important gender issues are?

iamtheblcksheep · 02/07/2024 13:20

Aladdinzane · 02/07/2024 13:16

No one reads your posts anymore.

He said almost exactly what you wanted to hear, but because it wasn't exact it's still derided.

This is a minor issue in this election. A minor issue overall.

If you really wanted to protect women and girls you'd be posting about issues that effect many more of them on a daily basis.

But no, it's this.

I do and so do so many others. How dare you speak for me.

There's going to be some disappointed people on here in a few years.

He's going to be a terrible PM. Pathological liar who can't make his mind up on anything.

Pathological liar?

Ah well, if he’s a pathological liar, he’ll be the natural heir to Boris.

JaneV1984Madness · 02/07/2024 13:21

@Moot000.. Indeed his treatment of rose and his clenched fist during the Jane from london debate are deeply concerning. The whole package is terrifying.

The Jackboot is you raising this all the time, in every thread.

The polls can tell you what a minor issue people think this is.

The reaction of many on here can tell you what they think of the dogmatic approach you take.

Anyway, you go on pretending to protect women and girls from the trans bogeyman.

Starmer will make a difference to education, health and policing, which will protect them much more.

Rishi has only had a short time to calm the waters after the last 2 leaders . He’s already made progress . Give him a few years in charge and he’d toss out the dross , settle things down and apply his considerable and speedy grasp of policy to make the changes needed. Rome wasn’t built in a day .
Remember what he said would happen if Liz got voted in ?
Hear what he says about Labours entry to the fold and beware . He’s wary of being too commital on biological sex in case he loses votes so don’t be taken in by that .
Sir Keir keeps Friday evenings clear as his wife is Jewish .

JaneV1984Madness · 02/07/2024 13:25

@Aladdinzane this subject clearly holds no interest for you.

If it did you would understand the irony of whipping away women's rights and then talking about helping women in with health and policing.

Naivety is a wonderful quality and we need innocence and naivety in this world... But as the safe school alliance states, in our leaders we simply need leaders who will protect children.

Unfortunately the GC posters with one focus insist on derailing discussion. This thread is about Starmer and his wider qualities as a potential PM, but they still have to try and take over discussions by pushing their agenda.

The subject of how Starmer will be as PM?

Or are we going to, again, have another thread deralied by GCs and their minority issue?

"If it did you would understand the irony of whipping away women's rights and then talking about helping women in with health and policing."

Where did Starmer say that they would do this? Where is it in the manifesto?

Tell you what? Try talking about health and policing first, rather than the issues you try to raise all the time? You know why? Because issues with these impact millions of women and girls every day, the issues with transpeople don't.

You're a fraud making claims about wanting to help women and girls in bad faith.

EasternStandard · 02/07/2024 13:30

@meinkraft mentioned Starmer people can respond to that

Thats to @ilovesooty who always posts as such

Thelnebriati · 02/07/2024 13:31

People trying to retain their existing rights are not the ones pushing an agenda.

fromdownwest · 02/07/2024 13:39

I can not quite put my finger on it, but I just don't trust him. He comes across as very disingenuous, and a pleaser of the people who are in front of him.

Something off with him, no rhyme nor reason to my view, just a gut instinct.

neverbeenskiing · 02/07/2024 13:40

WiseBiscuit · 02/07/2024 11:02

He’s a barrister by trade, they are practiced manipulators and expert liars.

Whereas career politicians have proven themselves to be paragons of honesty and virtue over the last 14 years 🙄

fromdownwest · 02/07/2024 13:40

Until power and money is taken out of politics, they can never be truly trusted.

CurlewKate · 02/07/2024 13:41

He's sensible adult. He's not a career politician. He has run a big government department. He is open about his intention to carve out time for family life. He doesn't do "knocking copy."

Suits me.

cupcaske123 · 02/07/2024 13:27

WTAF is that meant to mean?

Edited

His wife is Jewish and they observe the traditional Shabbat meal which means the family getting together for dinner on Friday evenings. Hence why the governments antisemitism zsar and Jewish groups have criticised the comments.

ClinkeyMonkey · 02/07/2024 13:49

Something off with him, no rhyme nor reason to my view, just a gut instinct.

Well, gut instinct is a bit rubbish, isn't it? I mean people fancied having Boris Johnson as PM because he seemed like a jolly nice chap, with his quirky use of Latin, his silly hair and his down to earth (ha!) love of a pint down the pub. And various other irrelevant shit that, oh look, turns out doesn't make you a good PM.

Absolutely. I'm very much looking forward to Keir Starmer being Prime Minister. It isn't an easy task he's taking on but I expect him to form a government of decency and integrity.
