To think there's going to be a Civil War in America

LaurieFairyCake · 01/07/2024 19:14

I mean, they're fucked aren't they

Now that Trump isn't getting prosecuted after today for the January 6th atrocities

And Biden 🤦‍♀️ - they might replace him

It's so awful - so terribly polarised

I think it's a real possibility

@ElecticBetty Point 4. Did you notice what Biden did in Afghanistan? Pulled the cord with zero plan and threw the place into terrible chaos. Trump never did that, but could have.

Did you see what Putin has done on Biden’s watch? Are there any American troops there now? How has he helped. It’s destroyed.

How about Israel and Gaza. That didn’t happen on Trump’s watch.

This is what happens when you have a weak American president. What you fear is already happening and it’s happened with the democrats in power.

DinaofCloud9 · 01/07/2024 20:31

Some of the comments on here about Americans are awful. They aren't all thick, stupid or gun loving you know.

Youneverevencallmebymyname · 01/07/2024 20:33

ArseyVarsey · 01/07/2024 20:28

@Youneverevencallmebymyname The population control will come about by the idiots shooting each other. The Yanks will never sort out their gun control because they’re that stupid.

What you are saying is really sick. You are talking about children. And your point is absolutely idiotic.

Coughsweet · 01/07/2024 20:34

No I don’t but how do you have faith in what a political party says when they are so keen to tell you what you can see before your eyes isn’t true? Then the question is what else might they be lying about. The Democrats have played this so badly.

Goldenbear · 01/07/2024 20:35

LaPalmaLlama · 01/07/2024 19:25

Trump will probably win to be fair. I mean I don’t know anyone who now doesn’t think that on a balance of probabilities but because of term limits he can’t run again so at least the end is in sight. Democrats are idiots for sticking with Biden and expecting everyone to swallow their BS about how he’s totally fine normally when that’s clearly not that case. I don’t think it’s necessarily going to lead to civil war though.

US is arguably less polarised than France, and potentially less than us in four years time.

But I thought the UK aid likely to vote in the centrist Left - how is that polarised, this lack of volatility is going to be great for the economy and great for strengthening the pound - economic growth is what is needed for stability not extreme right wing populist politics! The UK is very different to the US, I’m not sure what US media are overblowing but Clacton on Sea doesn’t represent UK politics at all!

That’s it exactly. And now even the WH staff is squealing.

IncompleteSenten · 01/07/2024 20:37

It is foolish to believe that there's any country in the world that absolutely 100% could never find itself in a civil war.

Of course it could happen in America.

It could happen here in the uk for that matter.

It could happen anywhere where there's a huge amount of unhappy angry people.

will it happen? Unlikely. But not 0% chance.

Goldenbear · 01/07/2024 20:41

iamtheblcksheep · 01/07/2024 20:19

The uk has more chance of civil war than the US who seem to be heading in the right direction hopefully with the exception of the democratic cesspits.

Such bollocks - please elaborate, what with a majority voting in a centre left party? Also, when was the last time Britain had a civil war? This is just comedy material.

Bloom15 · 01/07/2024 20:43

EmmaOvary · 01/07/2024 19:55

Yep, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone defending Trump on MN before and now suddenly everyone is…

I know, very odd.

Trump is a megalomaniac

fliptopbin · 01/07/2024 20:43

I am guessing that the people talking about a UK civil war after our election have no idea what is happening here! I guess if you count what remains of the Tories fighting like ferrets in a sack for years to come...

ArseyVarsey · 01/07/2024 20:48

@Youneverevencallmebymyname i’m not the sick one. I’ve never shot a gun. I don’t advocate for shooting children. There’s plenty of that happened in the past in the US, because they will not deal with gun control. It keeps happening. They just will not deal with it. Sheer lunacy. I know very well not all people in the US are stupid. Those who got involved with the insurrection were. Never ever been described as sick before in my life. There are facets of US society that are sick.

Dymaxion · 01/07/2024 20:48

Not if the weather continues as it is, we are generally fair weather rioters in the UK, with the odd exception. If it gets too hot, people would be too busy complaining 'its too hot' , so there would have to be a temperature sweet spot, so 23-25 degrees, with a nice gentle breeze, would have them out in their droves Grin

IncompleteSenten · 01/07/2024 20:51

Bloom15 · 01/07/2024 20:43

Oh he absolutely is.

I remember saying last time that he wants to be a dictator and if anyone's going to try to get rid of the two term limit it'll be him. I stand by that. He will try.

Its extremely unlikely he'll succeed, but he'll try. Checks and balances are as good as the people doing/enforcing them. Armies are as good or bad as the people leading them.

Thinking oh it could never ever happen absolutely no way that's stupid you're stupid don't even talk about it youre scaremongering it could never happen... is how things happen! You only need to look back through history to understand that. Time after time after time what could never happen, happens.

I don't know whether it's arrogance or stupidity to believe with 100% certainty that somehow what happens in other places and has happened at other times could somehow Never Happen in this case.

Slim chance does not mean no chance.

Aussieland · 01/07/2024 20:52

if some of the responses on here are real I now understand why trump got in and have even more fear for the future of America. He has done an amazing propaganda job on those unable to think a little deeper

KoiKoiKoi · 01/07/2024 20:54

LaurieFairyCake · 01/07/2024 19:42

the world didn't end

They stormed the seat of democracy and trashed the place, beat people, had politicians hiding under desks, threatened to kill congress people, used violence

If you think trump supporters did that, rather than paid antagonists, there's less hope for than I thought.

LaurieFairyCake · 01/07/2024 20:57

I think you mean PROTAGONISTS

And that is INSANE that you believe that - are you nuts????

You think those people were PAID TO RIOT

Jesus fucking Christ, I can't believe anyone falls for these conspiracy theories

I don't think immediately, but I tend to agree with my DH's view that we are in the final century of the USA as we know it existing.

I tend to agree that, as some people have said, January 6th wasn't the end of the insurrection - it was the beginning. It will be slow, not sudden, but I think there are immense fault lines forming between (and I know this is a generalisation) Mid and Southern State Christian Nationalism America and liberal urban coastal America over the coming decades.

Dymaxion · 01/07/2024 20:57

If you think trump supporters did that, rather than paid antagonists, there's less hope for than I thought.

Paid by who ? Absolutely everyone who was there was paid ? Do you have any idea how much they were paid ? Biden had already won, so what was the point ?

LaurieFairyCake · 01/07/2024 20:59

If he doesn't die in the next term then he will definitely get rid of the two term limit

He WANTS to be Putin

Who is also a dictator

Lots of people believe if he gets in he won't leave until he's dead.

He'll have a mandate to say any vote was rigged, to call for more riots / taking down city hall etc. and his fans will be emboldened.

So it might not just be one term.

saltinesandcoffeecups · 01/07/2024 21:00

Is there something wrong with your keyboard @LaurieFairyCake I think you can clean the keys if they get sticky… your caps lock seems to be malfunctioning.

LaurieFairyCake · 01/07/2024 21:02

No I'm shouting because people completely INSANELY believe in unfounded conspiracy theories Hmm

I mean that is fucking nuts

Probably the same people who believe we never went to the moon 🌑
