Imagine when Starmer gets in and then hard left oust him and bring back Jeremy Corbyn.

Utterly chilling thought 🥶☠️

Now I know you are on a wind up!

How would Starmer, having delivered a massive victory, be ousted?

I think a lot of people on MN actually don't know what Fascism is. Maybe they've heard people on the Left shouting "Fascist!" at someone they too dislike, and are copying them because it sounds good. I'd urge you to do some research into what Fascism actually is before blithely throwing it around at everyone you disagree with.

Up thread the dictionary definition of fascism was shared. It’s bang on for Reform.

MeadowL · 30/06/2024 17:53

The hard left hate Starmer.

They will try and oust him.

By what mechanism will the "hard left" oust Starmer?

So did Angela Rayner. She just left at 16, to work. Which a lot of people did back then. Unless of course you think that politicians have to be university edicated, but that would be a bit elitist.

Yeah, because having delivered Labour's biggest election victory in history would make him sooooo vulnerable.

Can I have some of what you're smoking?

mum2jakie · 30/06/2024 17:56

My MIL was planning to vote Reform...Her candidate has just disowned the party and is endorsing the Tories, LOL. Not sure where her vote will go now!

Yes she does. She just didn’t get them at school. Plus qualifications aren’t the b-all and end-all. They prove something you can also prove in other ways. For example, the famous flautist James Galway has passed no music exams - he can still play though. Union reps come from the industry they represent - teacher reps have post grad qualifications. Reps for more practical 7nions tend not to. It doesn’t mean they aren’t capable.

Soukmyfalafel · 30/06/2024 17:57

You didn't see the C4 report then? Do you really think Farage cares about Clacton or the UK? Really? He's a shit car salesman who would sell his wife for clicks. He'll fuck off when a better option arrives. He didn't even want to be involved in this election then suddenly changed his mind. Funny that.

Their economic policy was written on the back of a fag packet as it doesn't stack up against scrutiny.

If you want to protest vote, at least direct it towards a party that is different to the Tories. It's not much of a protest vote, just more of the same shit.

Just vote for an independent instead.

I work in the NHS. All our union reps are highly qualified nurses or psychologists.

FFS. Why would that happen? No party would get rid of the person who took them to a massive victory. Plus Corbyn isn’t even a member of the Labour Party.

Maybe look at her background and why she might not, as a child, have appreciated the importance of education. Then look at what she’s done as an adult. I thin’ that shows admirable qualities.

Have you thought about what sort of 'change' you actually want, specifically and what sort of 'change' Reform might deliver?
Saying, stop the boats is just a sound bite, used by Sunak, so is meaningless.

Soukmyfalafel · 30/06/2024 18:01

@cardibach Yes I do wonder how that would work.....

Corbyn would need to be re-elected first and then deflect back to the party that controversially kicked him out.

What a cunning plan!

anythinginapinch · 30/06/2024 18:01

Anyone who understands what left and right wings actually stand for at heart - ie, should market forces control everything (right wing, small state, survival of the "fittest") or should a society work for its constituent parts (larger state, level the playing field, help those who are less "fit") will not be voting Reform.
Reform is a lie from top to bottom

VoteOutToHelpOut · 30/06/2024 18:02

I thought it was Angela Rayner who was supposed to be ousting Starmer? That's what the Tories are spinning.

Plenty of stupid and impractical people go to University and visa versa. This particularly applies to people like Rayner from lower socio-economic classes. This isn't a sensible argument.

Well, Reform are entitled to have their own spin. There's no difference in the outcome though - it's dizziness.

Madness!

This is what differentiates the Left from the Right. I can accept that people who vote Labour/Greens/Lib Dems have their reasons, we just have different fundamental beliefs and priorities. The Left cannot CONCEIVE of people disagreeing with them. They must be mad, stupid or Fascist.

Qualifications don’t equal brains. And frankly if it’s brains you are looking for, then voting Reform makes even less sense.
