Even Reform's own candidates are now saying it is a racist party.

Yes. An able and strong woman who pulled herself out of deprivation via helping others as a career then a union rep. What’s not to like?

magentarain · 30/06/2024 17:32

This is unfair. People aren't voting for Reform because they're just a random, untried experiment they'd like to have a play with. Otherwise, why aren't people voting for the Greens on the same scale? Or any othe rparty that's never been in power?
People are voting for them because they think that migration should be brought back to net levels, so that our services are not under so much pressure. Because they're a low-tax party that wants to incentivise even lower paid jobs and encourage people to start businesses. Because they want to switch to a completely different health system that is proven to work better, etc...

How do you think Reform will do this?
Do your trust that they have the right people to improve things?

Ok, I can actually see your point @magentarain the left can be extremely patronising, I’m not going to deny that. What worries me though is the track record of lies told by Farage ( and Johnson) about brexit, and also about immigration. Immigration is actually needed and by cutting down on EU migration we have ended up with higher levels of non European migration, which arguably is worse for social cohesion.

VoteOutToHelpOut · 30/06/2024 17:37

Angela Rayner is great. She dealt with the attempts to smear her brilliantly.

rockstarshoes · 30/06/2024 17:37

Even Reform candidates are jumping ship!

Reform UK candidate Liam Booth-Isherwood has disowned the party, following what he called “reports of widespread racism and sexism”

Yes. But you say you haven’t seen sign of them improving things YET. Unsurprising since they haven’t had a chance to try.

You've misunderstood what I meant.
What I meant was that I am not optimistic based on what I have heard them say and on their manifesto. If I am wrong, that would be great.

Gorgonemilezola · 30/06/2024 17:38

One of Reform Limited's own candidates is so disgusted with them he's supporting the Conservative candidate instead.

Beekeepingmum · 30/06/2024 17:39

Voting reform is fine. Farage can clearly define a women. He may think her place is in the kitchen but at least he knows the difference.

So having 'lived experience' is OK for a politician if they're the flavour you like, but not for other parties? There's a word for that. Starts with H.

Gorgonemilezola · 30/06/2024 17:40

rockstarshoes, x-post, but possibly worth saying twice anyway Grin

Rewis · 30/06/2024 17:40

YANBU if you belive in them and their values. That's why we vote. If it is just an "anti-vote" then YABU.

You have to get seats to get into coalition. It’s entirely possible they won’t. (And even then you require a hung Parliament and for the biggest party to be prepared to deal with you.

Imagine when Starmer gets in and then hard left oust him and bring back Jeremy Corbyn.

Utterly chilling thought 🥶☠️

IMO there are 2 good things about Reform:

1: Taking votes from the Tories
2: Stopping people feeling complacent and so encouraging them to get out and vote

SherbetDips · 30/06/2024 17:45

I’m voting reform

I think there’s a slim chance of that happening.

I doubt they'd be able to do that. All the Conservatives who joined the Labour Party to keep Corbyn in last time will have left now theyve achieved their goal. And I suspect even the hard left will realise that Corbyn was the reason Labour lost when they really should have won last time.
